Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

    The wife just watched the ball boy thing, and said exactly what you said about the player being adrenalined up.

    They will make a meal of it.

    And if monteblanco’s post is true >}

  2. The Ball boy was 17 and knew exactly what he was trying to do….

    Sadly as a cheating theatrical scumbag who has most likely been obeying orders, but may have been acting on own initiative, he has become a Swansea / National hero…..

    Something is very wrong about that……..

  3. Watching Newsnight: planks were always thus, but total planks are calling the shots these days.

    How did we ever let it come to this?

    A country gets the government it deserves? Nah. We don’t deserve this.

    A bit of advice I got off my old mhan a long time ago, believe nothing you hear and only half what you see.

    ……..The four fouls, four bookings game more than sums it up for me.

    I have a problem with this 4 fouls, 4 bookings thing. I don’t know if anyone else has. It seems to me to suggest that we committed 4 fouls and every one of our players who committed a foul was booked.

    This did not happen.

    Two of the bookings were about the penalty awarded. They were not about fouls.

    There is a danger that the 4 fouls, 4 bookings myth will become a “fact”.

    We have bigger battles to fight without truth becoming a casualty.

  8. SFTB/Burnley78 If Hazard had went up a player who was wasting time and put his hands on him/pushed him down and the kicked out at him… Would he be sent off?

    Surely those two bookings support the view that our refs are biased?

    I’ll have you know when I trapped that ball with my face it dropped like a stone at my feet.

    There’s few that have that level of facial control.

    Many thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. Good night and God bless.

  14. Haven’t seen “The Ballboy” incident but loved reading about it, got quite a few laughs from the CQN Wits. Mick enjoy the craic out there while you can, I’m only back a few hours and I’m bloody frozen already.

    I think I half believe you……but I can see this going mad so I think I`d better be off before I do !

    We are flogging a dead horse here. It is hard to stand in the way of the british Public once they habe roused their dander and are expressing Moral Outrage.

    Celtic players regularly lay hands on players- Gary Hooper does it constantly.

    Provided the player does not fall down like Kyle Lafferty because someone’s hands touched him, there would be no foul and no disciplinary outcome. But if the player simulates, like the ballboy, then there will be.

    My final word. Hazard was wrong and will be heavily punished for more than the incident merits. The ballboy was also at it but he is just a kid.

    We would do them both a favour if we let the incident fade.

  17. As Paul isn’t around, Daniel in Tenesse is hopefully going to put us back to UK time. Tricky explaining that to him so we may end up 2 hours out! Sit tight for more time travel. he’s been adding Twitter, Facebook and News Now to the mobile site and has also sorted the News Now button on the main site today but don’t think it was him who got the time wrong!@

    My biggest concern about big Vic is that he doesn’t dominate games in the manner I would expect from someone in the £10m bracket.

    His last 2 performances have given me reason to re evaluate.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    HT,you see him more often than I,which is sufficient reason to respect your opinion.
    I have paid particular attention to him in the last two games,and apart from poor chasing back early last night,he has been superb.
    I’m delighted for him,and for what he offers us.
    More,I’m delighted to match the opinion of your good self……
    (And I’m not just being nice cos yer birthday’s nearly gone)
    im not advocating hitting kids
    just think its unfair on the player
    that he encounters what-should never happen off a ballboy
    with all at stake
    Whether the refs are biased or not doesn’t matter to my argument.
    There is a danger that the “4 fouls, 4 bookings” myth will soon become “Celtic committed four fouls during the match and each player was booked”.
    That is my issue.
    We need to ensure our arguments are well founded.
    verdantvic,
    If you read back you’ll find I agree with you but we still have to temper it with reality.
    I don’t believe the player tried to hurt the ballboy.
