Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

  1. Swansea + Ki getting to the EPL League Cup Final is a very good result for CFC (particularly if they go on to win it next month – bet PL had some wee clauses in the deal).

Good selling point for our future signings – Ki came to us and won medals – got high profile recognition in the Asian Market – as a result he moved on to the EPL.

Celtic can offer participation in the CL – trophies and a path to the EPL.

Make no mistake – certain players (and agents) will recognise the longterm benefits of signing for CFC!

  2. The ball boy limped off after being “kicked” in the ribs!

Retrospective ban should apply for ball boy simulation

Unfortunately Hazard will get a lengthy ban from FA for his heinous crime

  3. tommytwiststommyturns on

GL2 – Ki was obviously a player…..when given time on the ball to be one!

So, as predicted by many on here, he was always going to be a success in a league where technical players get the required time on the ball. Unlike SPhell…!

Away and polish yer crystal ball….!

Out of interest, do you go around kicking kids when adrenaline pumped?

At least the ballboys at Swansea collected the ball. The ones at easter road where glued to their seats………

  7. Seems we like the old child abuse defence of ‘they were asking for it’ on here.

Think I will log off now, reading CQN tonight has left a bad taste in my mouth…

Well done the jacks and the bantams getting to the english league cup final. Not so sure the sponsors would be happy with the final pairing. villa v chelski would be easier to sell to a world wide audience. Greenyin

Hazard kicked the ballboy for keeping the ball. Torres would have missed him, Cole would have shot him and Terry would have sh***ed him.

that ball boy would bring our first team average up a few years ;-0

  16. Cananalar, don’t want to go on,but would you be so diplomatic if it was elbows and a Celtic ball boy

  17. CowieBhoy and everyone else from last night. Ive got 1 promised and the same photo is in the view today as well. So thank you all very much.

TTTT a lot of people bar you……

SFTB… If that was your wean what would you want done to Hazard? I personally think he should be banned for a long time and the Swansea players showed a lot of constraint. This was a man against a boy.

You see how sensitive I am when it comes to sexism?

  20. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Gordy64,

Naw, but that would be purely emotional, innit.

I don’t think hazard should have kicked out but I don’t believe he either tried to harm the ballboy nor do I believe he did harm the ballboy the player got the ball, had the ballboy been playing the ref would have probably booked him :o)

The ref was correct to send him off and as far as I’m concerned that should be it over.

Well except for the fun we can have with it.

  21. GL2

“SFTB… If that was your wean what would you want done to Hazard? ”

If that was the case I would be exercising my responsibility as a parent by having a word with my boy.

I’d leave dealing with Hazard to the lynch mob or the FA. He will undoubtedly get a long ban and it will be for longer than the incident merits.

  22. TTTT said “KI was always going to be a success in a league where technical players get the required time on the ball. ”

You forgot to mention that, being a Celtic player, he was also open to general assault any time time he held the ball when playing in the old SPL, emphasising ‘being a Celtic player’. Did you notice that Commons wasn’t playing last night, after the assault on him last Saturday?
