Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

No idea to be honest. Tomorrow we are meeting the chap who fixed Craig Whyte’s roof and never got paid. Interesting inside details to be revealed on in CQN Magazine….

  2. They’re all in a dirty wee tax-dodging club on a jolly, dragging us all to hell for their amusement; and the chattering class, talking head arbiters of reality, prop up the whole tottering edifice, defying all the laws of logic and gravity.

My point was not about sending off…..In response to your question I would agree with SFTB answer….

I dont think Hazaard was right but having seen such behaviour and been enraged by it….especially at ibrox in much less hi energy matches in spl, I understand the frustration…

I detest cheats, and I strongly dislike those who fake injury. Pre meditated blatant cheating like we saw tonight, not just once, infuriates me….

To see this young man (he is 17 after all) behave like this and then get national sympathy appalls me…

If he were my son I would encourage him to make an apology for HIS behaviour.

It is my opinion that his manager is also blatant liar in suggesting Swansea had no part in this.

Michael – on the specifics, you are correct, but I highlighted this game as an example of some of the poor/biased officiating we’ve witnessed this season.

Quite frankly, I’m amazed we’re still seeing all these honest mistakes, considering the usual beneficiary is dead and gone! Are the SFA, through the honourable men in black, applying a handicap system so that we don’t win the league too soon.

Anyone who attended the two home league games that Calum Murray has refereed will know exactly what I’m talking about. I was naive enough to think that we would move on after the death of THEM, but their legacy goes on!

  6. If that simulated assault is the worst thing that ever happens to the smart-assed young thespian,… then he will indeed lead a charmed existence.

    Much ado about NOTHING.

    Next……..

  7. Multi millionaire professional footballer should know better than to kick a youngster .no matter the frustration as the ref can deal with it by adding on time

  8. just in from Sky Sports News……….

Sondy Jardine has expressed sympathy for the ball boy.

He doesn’t like anyone being kicked when they are down. He says the ball boy won’t forget who kicked him and there will be a reckoning to be had.

Sondy will assist the ball boy in setting up his own fighting fund.

  9. People keep referring to this cheating ball person as a kid…..

He is 17 years old, and his blatant cheating was premeditated….worse it was grandstanding if his reported pre match boasts are true

I blame Swansea, the young man and hazaard in equal measure for a sad incident.

Having watched it again, I would have to agree with you …… The ballboy needs to ‘come clean’ on his attempt to waste time for the team he supports …. He smothered the ball deliberately ….. Oh, how the Engish love a drama…..

  11. Lad was at it. But a boot in the ribs by a big fecker was a shoe too far. Ball extraction is a practiced skill.

  12. Just wondering

If i go to brugge to visit a trade fair… and kick a 17 year old in front of thousands and on cvtv

What would the belgian police and courts think of my actions

  13. Kilbowie Kelt.

Do you mean the Ball Boy or the Singing Detective?

I think you are correct either way btw…

  14. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Johann Murdoch,

My interpretation from what I seen was the player trying to be smart and kick the Ball out from under the boy, I did not think he tried to kick the boy, had he tried to kick the boy, I expect the police would have intervened before the ref.

  15. johann

I dont disagree on discipline but equally ……

I am no lover of chelsea but the ref had clearly taken no action when both Lampard and Ba had highlighted similar blatant timewasting earlier….

This was not just not returning the ball, this was actually delaying the restart blatantly and consistently for a 20 minute period from 60 mins….

  16. SFTB/Burnely we are never going to agree on this.. Talksport etc are already destroying the guy … I dont care what age he is but if a player kicks out like that he deserves to go. If any of our players done the same I would say the same thing.

You must have very high/low standards for your children if you would want them to apologies to someone who swung a kick at them.

I would never demean my children to do that.

  17. canamalar 12.08

I agree 100% re hazaard intentions….I am also unsure if the cheating ballperson was even hurt….

agreed – the b.b. was out of order, but he is probably paid washers and/or a few free kits

the professional player should have allowed the ref to handle the situation – twas still a sending off

Also, sense Hazard would never try that with a grown man – a coward

  19. GL2

    I see it very differently….

I have a 17 year old and if he behaved like that I would be very disappointed…

“was heavily against stadium renaming before but now i kind of see it as going with the times, almost all top clubs have had their stadiums renamed, i guess its just football evolving. aslong as ibrox remains in the name. Also on the newcastle players, ive heard ben arfa wants to leave to join us and newcastle are alowing it “

GL2 – if Ki had stayed, who would you drop from our first team to accommodate him?

  22. Ach….daft youngster annoys mega-wealthy spoiled brat bad loser. That does not merit a swift kick in the ribs. Not okay in my book, not one little bit.

Up to the ref to have sorted it. In the end he was left with no choice but to dish out the red card to the Chelsea bun.

  23. Saltires…

I am sure Hazaard would try to retreive the ball from anyone who was cheating in that way…..

I am not saying he was right to….I am just not seeing him as being aggressive for the sake of it….merely trying to get a ball back from a cheating young man lying on it.

  24. Burnley78, just reading back, do you really think scumbag is an

appropriate word to describe the ball boy, would you have the same view if

ir was a celtic ballboy and lee mcculloch
