Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Burnley78, with regards to ibrokes, I think someone posted earlier that they were supposed to have been offered 2.5 million by ashley, don’t know for what length

    of time it covered

    —–

Laura Ashley bucking the high street trend- me likey those summer frocks- do they still do size 18 ?

maybe another high st mob can sponsor thems:

    Radio Rental Ibrox

    :-)

  6. Saltires, not sure if they still do the dresses, but I am sure that the ibrokes

hospitality boxes would have lovely curtains and soft furnishings :-))

    In vino veritas…..

Plus it takes long enough to write the originals!

Sorry, misunderstood an earlier post from you-enjoy it all the more when you get there.

The anticipation must be doing you in!!

I may not like it, and perhaps it is not correct but pre meditated and blatant cheating (which I beleive this young man was about) is something which I dislike strongly…..clearly you view it differently and that is within your gift…

Dunno about lovely curtains, but the sashes are minging!

  10. Hi Doc, you’re right and i honestly didn’t mean to continue posting but the red mist descended and now i’m here talking to you to and some other lovely folk earlier and i’m loving it. But the reality is yes, it is addictive and as much as i’m loving this rush of communicating with you and the other lovely folk, i have enough addictions and they’ll become all too evident if i continue posting.

This blog is extraordinary and unique. I have an affinity with people obviously through Celtic but there is an incredible feeling of camararderie and warmth and i really don’t think i would experience that anywhere else. It’s just a lovely place to visit and feel alive and vibrant, you lot don’t know the meaning of ‘boring blogs.’ As Dave Allen used to say “May your God go with you.” I’m away back to lurking, much easier x

  11. Saltires….I think you hit the nail on the head re length of rights etc….

I cant see more than sweetie money in any such deal for ibrox….

Usually the value in these deals is as much for the ‘money cannot buy seats’, ‘cup final tickets’ , hospitality, etc

The naming rights on an old stadium is of limited value as few actually call it any different….Brands know this….

Ashley might see value in it as he will already have alienated half the poulation in Scotland anyway but I reckon it will be a David Murray ‘sell the future rights to merchandise etc’ deal to generate short term cash arrangement….dressed up with stadium rights….

  12. Burnley78,cheers for the reply, I don’t agree with the ballboys actions, just thought,

your choice of word was a bit harsh

There was some posts earlier from a question and answers session chuckles done

with the orcs he discussed stadium naming, also says someone phoned him wanting to buy 2million shares, also a shirt sponsor who wont touch them while they are in div3

For once I had to listen to R Clyde tonight and heard Keevins tell a rangers caller that Greene would say anything to keep rangers supporters happily going along with things…(he was referring to English conference chat at the time)

I think all of the chuckles atributed ‘mini moonbeams’ above endorse this view…..

Which means I agree with Hugh Keevins…..OMG as my daughter would say !

Yes indeed, probably all froth but good value…

    like the ongoing imagery –

“dressed up with stadium rights….” ;-)

    Chas’ slip is showing

  15. Burnley78, you’re in a bad way If you are agreeing with keevins ;-)),

but in all honesty green is playing the hun hordes well, canny wait for

the carnage when it all goes pear shaped

  16. Saltires, don’t know if mike ashley has kids, if he has they should be

No keen on making such links but that should provide a bit of fun.

Could it be a delay tactic ?

Oh the link was courtesy of JohnBhoy on Scotslawthoughts

  20. The Chris hoy velodromes naming rights by emirates is £5m over 10 years …

Now considering CP is on telly more..

    Is a 60000 capacity…

Attracts one of the biggest crowds in world football…

Has a global fan base ..

    Has the greatest fans…

Participates in euro football on a regular basis…..

And will host the opening and closing ceremony for the commonwealth games??

How much is that worth in naming rights ???

    I reckon realistically….

    £10m over 5 years?

  21. Sooner or later someone (probably Billy No’Well) is going to write a song called, ” Charles Green Says….”

Flog it to the orkenkind via iTunes, 50p a pop, to the 500million worldwide, and if even just fifty percent buy it, why…..sevco can be transformed overnight into sevco real, Chunkles can buy his own island, but they still can’t play in Europe and they’re still in the fourth tier.

That’s the trouble with fantasy; it never quite tallies with reality.

Mind you, the orkenkind will buy just about anything….just wrap it in a fleg or some orange taffeta.
