Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

  1. BobbyMurdochsCUW :- Cheers surrr yer very gird health. Walked into the local after a very boring football meeting and before I could order the barmaid brought me a dring by the aforementioned gentleman (and I never thought I call a Kilwinkian a gentleman lol) Sorry I couldn’t get down this afternoon but I enjoyed the JD. In your honour I sat under the Rangers top to drink it (OK that meant the Celtic top from some weird year like 67 was also above me but Mr JD saved me from shuddering). Hope you enjoyed yourself in the Annick and realized that like Kilwinkieland Dreggin has a reputation that is also exaggerated. As I have no idea if you will visit again I put the price of a double in the cancer tin.

Thanks for the drink and all the best.

P’S I’m not on that often so could someone please re post this tomorrow

I wonder if we’re looking for that creative midfielder we need in the team, and if so will we get them in during this transfer window?

  3. Thank you hen1rik,

Your 2 large posts (SFA etc) and lastly 21.43-Don’t let it be forgot might just have made my day (certainly have kept me in as here it’s midday). Why I’ve been a Celtic fan nearly 50 years now.Took tears….The Celtic Way!!!

It has certainly been refreshing after all the “up in the air” stuff since Kojo and alta.. I don’t see it? I’m sure I will be corrected but as I took it Kojo gave an alternative view on MLK who may have “acted below the belt ” for a minister of religion etc., So what.. not the first..doesn’t change what he did for human rights,ok maybe not as saintly as I had thought but I can check up and make my own decision if it bothers me.

The SD gave a film review where the black star supposedly later said “great I was able to shoot all the whities”. Surely this is as racist as the other way around and my god the “fan would have been hit” if so.

Unless the anger on sight is over something about “Hilary–and a heid problem” of which I know nothing.

I enjoy learning things on here but have no time for other than national SPORTING rivalries. Anthems, sins of the past-passed on. NO! Remembered YES! Change the future, that’s it. The Celtic Way… a fair playing field in Scotland,if only so much energy and organisation could be put into this.

The footballing authorities must be changed but the present rules adhered to until changed in an open manner.

Please everyone concentrate on this and enjoy the football and the craic.

Be interesting to see if Rogic proves a ‘work in progress’ or if he takes this step up by storm as he has previous…

If he manages the latter he might provide the creativity needed…

  6. Good morning friends fro EK where it’s 6.40am, dry, pretty cold but not enough to have to clear the ole windscreen.

    Good morning CQNers,

Today, 24th January 2013 marks the 14th day of waiting for the SFA Disciplinary committee to decide the fate of Kenny Shields for saying ……

Dallas had “fabricated” evidence against him and been “manipulative and devious” during an earlier SFA hearing on December 13

Anybody know why we’re still waiting?

Just who would come up with that kind of money ? We struggle to the wire to get a shirt sponsor every few years for less cash.

  12. Now that CQN has decided to move to British Summer Time a couple of months early, i’m away to get the shorts and suncream on – then head out to scrape the windscreen.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2013/jan/23/private-health-contractor-999-calls

A frightening portent of what to expect with a privatised NHS, where private companies are prepared to wilfully ‘doctor’ data (if you’ll excuse the pun) to achieve revenue related KPI’s.

Who is going to protect the public?

Definitely not this government who are hell bent on destroying everything that was put in place since the last war to improve the lives of the less fortunate.

They are hell-bent on enacting a degenerative process to take us back to the conditions last seen in the 1950’s

  14. Pat Nevin is a disgrace.

He has made the full conversion to hun.

On BBC News openly defending the actions of Eden Hazard in kicking the ballboy at Swansea. Said Hazard was embarrassing but the ballboy was disgraceful.

Says ballboys should be removed from games.

    Total Elmer!

Thats it Pat defend the indefensively rich!!!!!!

  15. I’m re-iterating a previous gripe I aired a while ago on here.

Why do players and fans get so over-excited about time wasting. And referees for that matter. When a goalkeeper takes too long to retrieve the ball and take a goal kick, what is the point in booking him? There is more time wasted in delivering the booking. And the ball was already “dead” anyway.

Just add on double the time.

If there was an official clock visible in the stadium it would end any arguments.

Note that this is different from players deliberately getting in the way to prevent a free kick from being taken quickly. That should be a booking every time.

  16. I see Richard Wilson in the herald today basically printing Chris Graham’s Rangers Standard blog re the LNS enquiry. Not content with the he also tells us we will be selling Hooper and Wanyama this month while Juve sign 2 strikers. How you are hurting, Richard and no wonder the Herald is now a regional and not national rag.

  17. Tim Tanium –

How does Pat Nevin’s views on the ballboy incident make him a hun?

There are quite a few on CQN criticising the ballboy. Are they all huns too?

  18. Morning,

Anyone know if Green confirmed last night to some zombies it is costing £25 to £30 Mn to run the Third Division club.

Apologies if my final comment last night upset anyone. CQN was a bit toxic .

  19. Nevin on Radio 4 defending Hazard and Chelsea, it was all tthe ball boys fault, he’s 17…

He then states he’s a lefty Guardian reader.

    Arse.

  20. 68 years of age, and now CQN has lost another hour of my life.

At this rate I’m not going to last for long.

Wilson’s probably got one eye on his future and will be hoping Dallek expert Ruprecht Graham gives him some space on that blog for future articles when the Herald goes belly up.

Give him a break. After all, he’s The Rangers correspondent of ‘The Herald.’ He doesn’t seem to write about anything else.

‘The Herald’ must be almost as low in Tims’ eyes as ‘The Record’ now, and hell mend them as they see their circulation plummet.

    Wilson?

Was that no’ the name of the volleyball in the film CastAway?

That just about sums up the ba’ heid that “writes” in the Herald.

Apologies to any volleyballs out there.

  24. Re Wilson again. I’ve just remembered him including the Rangers SB telephone number as part of an article he wrote when it looked as Hun SB sales looked as though they were going to be low.

Boycott ‘The Herald’ now until they get rid of him.

  25. Shortie reports with straight face, a piece in the rectum that tribute act ‘fans’ have said ok to renaming their dilapidated stadium……….
