Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

    Chelsea eh…

I guess if you’re getting paid a trillion quid a week and a wee diddy team like Swansea are knocking you of the cup semi final over 2 legs, with 10 minutes to go, it might be frustrating. People might laugh at you I guess. Rightly so.

Still no excuse for kicking the ball boy because he isn’t fast enough for you

On the positive side, l I suppose it’s an improvement on airguns in the changing rooms

It happened a number of years ago, there might be posters on here that were there that night. I’m glad I wasn’t. But there was no mention of it in the msm which says it all for me. Can you imagine if it was celtic fans who attacked the London? It would be front Page for days.

  5. Juve’s stance towards us ahead of THE game seems tremulous and hesitant…..or is this a double bluff?

I think they genuinely fear being gubbed at Celtic Park and know full well we would then contain them in Turin.

They don’t sound arrogantly brimming with confidence; you’d think they would be predicting an easy progression. But they’re not.

Whatever….it’s yet another measure of how far we’ve come that the Italian giants are not taking us for granted…not for a second.

Should be a great night in February. Do you think for a minute someone like Gary Hooper woud want to miss the opportunity to take part in that?

    Nah. I didn’t think so.

Condoning acts of thuggery and blaming the person assaulted in my considered judgement is what I expect from huns. By your actions be known.

Hazard was guilty of violent conduct. Inexcusable

  7. Chats hoy… I used to subscribe to the Herald but after reading one of Wilsons articles I wrote to them, advising that I was cancelling the subscription until their ‘Ranges News’ correspondent was removed. I have not bought the paper since and would urge other purchasers to advise the Herald in similar terms. He is an absolute disgrace to a so called quality paper! HH

All us fhans are rightly looking forward to the Juve game of course, and for Hooper, I imagine that it will also be a big deal for him too, but maybe the lure of playing Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal etc would also be a bit of big deal for him too and he wouldn’t have to put up with too many Falkirk away type of games either.

Hoops isn’t the first good player to leave Celtic Park, (for me I thought Kenny Dalgliesh was)

In my experience virtually every single one of our top players (apart from the MON era) left us fairly quickly in their rush to England. We will survive.

The current games that are being played out in the media seem very familiar, probably just trying to increase the sale price

  10. Mki 67 mixed emmotions about juve stance. Obviously nice to hear a team showing us due respect. But at the same time concerned that they will be mentally prepared to really tough it out with us. I believe we really need the win a CP dont think nill nill will get us through.

  11. Dear Angela,

Everyone in Scotland is laughing at you and your wee fourth tier team, hell I even know Motherwell fans who are living large off the back of your extinction!!

Try and see the funny side of it and it will surely help you through these trying times before the second administration, title stripping and final humiliating liquidation 2 courtesy of Herr Green…

Sevcovians….they just can’t help themselves, can they? They know nobody will stop them or hold them to account. Football means nothing to them : it’s ALL about supremacist violence.

    There was no assault.

The player kicked the ball, not the 17 year old ball ‘boy’.

The police are taking no action.

Dundee Utd director Derek Robertson said #maskgate would be discussed at a pre-match meeting with police and safety officers. One to watch.

  19. Hazard should have acted professionally and waited for the ball boy to give him the ball. The ball was under the boy. He should not have kicked out in the first place. I saw the action replays a few times and it looked to me that the boy was kicked, not the ball. Players have been sent off for less.

If there was any evidence that the player deliberately kicked the ball ‘boy’ the police would have charged him with assault.

Look at the lack of reaction from the Swansea players.
