Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

    There is a 15,000 waiting-list for Sevco season-tickets.

Back in September Jabba claimed there was a 15,000 waiting-list for Sevco season-tickets.

Amazingly, they still have season-tickets available and have not sold-out one single home game this season..

    I can’t figure it out myself…

  8. Ratboy Nevin is on a nice wee earner today traipsing from one station to another with his ingratiator turned up to 10.

You can just see the wee jolts he makes as he defends the indefensibe and feigns startlement at the obvious while he sooks up to the populist masses baying for blood, anybody’s blood.

A self-satisfied smirk then crosses his phizzog as he preens his self-regarding wit before thanking himself for simply existing.

  10. Good Morning,

    Couple of quick things.

On the topic of SAF, a few months ago he was on my flight with his wife, the Guy sitting next to me was a Man U fan and had taken his boy to his first game the previous Saturday. he asked the Air Hostess to take a menu back to SAF and ask him if he could sign it for his boy.

Anyway 20 minutes later the menu comes back, SAF had written about 3 paragraphs on it talking about the game, some thoughts on how the game went and why he made some decision during it and went onto thank the boy for coming to see the Team and hoped he would continue to do so.

I though it was a nice touch

2nd thing, My Mate just got his photo taken with Gary Hopper this morning, he is on the Easy Jet flight to Stanstead, so probably just going home for a day but you never know……

  11. A couple of funnies to lighten the blog :))

A Tim, an hun, a hot blonde and a fat woman get on the tube. They go into a tunnel and the lights go out, and suddenly they all hear a loud slap. When the lights come on, the Hun has a big red handprint on his face.

The blonde thinks: “Oh, the Hun must have made a move for me, but fondled that fat woman by mistake and she slapped him.”

The fat woman thinks: “Hmm, that Hun tried to put the moves on that blonde and got slapped. Good for her.”

The Hun thinks: “Hey, that Tim must have gone for the blonde and she slapped me by mistake!”

The Tim thinks: “Boy, I hope we go through another tunnel, so I can smack that Hun b****** again”.

    —–

A van driver used to amuse himself by scaring the sh** out of every Glasgow Rangers fan he saw strutting down the road in his blue and white uniform. He would swerve as if to hit them, and at the last minute, swerve back onto the road. One day as he was driving along the road, he saw a priest hitch-hiking. He thought he would do his good deed for the day and offer the priest a lift. “Where are you going, Father?” he asked.

“I’m going to say Mass at St Joseph’s church, about 2 miles down the road,” came the reply.

“No problem,” said the driver, “Jump in and I’ll give you a lift.”

The happy priest climbed into the van and they set off down the road. Suddenly the driver caught site of a Hun on the pavement, and instinctively swerved as if to hit him, but just in time, remembering the priest in his van, swerved back to the road again, narrowly missing him. Although he was certain that he didn’t hit him, however, he still heard a loud “Thud”. Not understanding where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirrors, and, seeing nothing, said to the priest, “Sorry Father, I almost hit that Rangers Supporter walking down the road there.”

“That’s okay,” replied the priest, “I got the b****** with the door!!”

    Hail! Hail!

Not a lot of activity so far this transfer window in Scottish football. In your view should we scrap the transfer window?

Enjoyed the game last night, chelsea were booting Swansea up and down the park, as well as ball boys and it didn’t phase Swansea one bit. A well deserved win.

  18. Re Wilson’s Herald article does he repeat Grahams claim the registration rules are there to protect players as if it is a fact?

If so this is the placing of an argument for a low punishment if LNS rules Rangers were out of order.

The intent of the rule is important in terms of weight of punishment. I asked its basis on TSFM and the response I got was it was based on a FIFA to deter match fixing, ie protect the integrity of football not help players get paid properly.

Now I cannot say the latter is true and so will not present it as a fact but it seems more likely to me FIFA were trying to protect the game’s integrity than players wages.

This presentation by Graham as a fact is predictable, say something often enough and it becomes accepted.

LNS should be looking at the reasons behind the rule and if it was to protect football from hidden payments as a means of influencing results ie make results depending on sport not hidden money then Rangers, if LNS finds they acted improperly face a very serious charge for which the argument it was a technical oversight of a less important matter, like not dating a form, simply does not stand up.

The battle lines on integrity have been drawn. Good job the SFA have upholding it as a top value in their mission statement.
