Plucky green and gold tribute act

820

Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.

Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.

None of this counts where it really matters.  Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game.  St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus.  Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.

A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon.  Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life.  It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

B78 …. A big difference between being disappointed and being acceptable for someone to swing a boot at your son. Lets leave it… we will never agree

GL2 – drop the captain, a naturally right-sided midfielder who would play with Victor and Joe, in place of Ki? Who’s the capo?!

you are probably right about getting the ball back from a player …I was being unfair to Hazard…he could be forgiven for thinking it was a Swansea sub ..

the ballboy was at it..hazard tried in desperation to kick the ball from under him..his aim was poor and the lad copped a sore one in the ribs…technically hazard had to walk but he surely wouldnt have meant it.

At no time did I say Hazaard was right to do what he did….

I also said I would ‘encourage’ my son to apologise for cheating….NOT tell him to.

He is sufficiently educated and capable to know right from wrong. If he showed himself to be such a cheat in public then I hope he would see the wrong example he sets…regardless of the outcome of his actions…

In my opinion ‘consequencies of our actions’ are things we hopefully all learn from…sadly this cheating young man will have achieved fame and notoriety from his, which is no lesson at all.

I stand by that regardless of your challenges to my parenting….

I reiterate I am not saying Hazaard was right to act as he did…

Ki with all the time in the world there to finish the game and fluffs it.

If the ballboy really tweeted what’s been alledged, then it has to be taken into account before the FA throw the book at Hazard. That doesn’t excuse the player’s unprofessionalism.

    gordy46,

Think you need to watch it again, when Hazard tried to go for the ball the ballboy threw himself onto the ball Hazard never pushed him he dived.

  11. TTTT Although Scott has improved his ball retention I have always said thats his weakness Ki would provide the shirt and long range of passing which we struggle with.

I am a big Joe fan and have debated with PF on here that he could play anywhere in the midfield. Also Biram as well is now getting back to fitness. We dont need just 4 players we need a squad.

I think Ki will end up one of the few players who has left us and went on to better things. He will end up playing against us in the Champions league for an Italian or Spanish club

  12. Re ball boy,

On sky news Rafa Benitez said ball boy came into dressing room and apologised for time wasting and Hazard apologised for his part, police taking no further action…..

  16. Canamalar, have seen it a number of times and I thought he pushed him,

I accept he may have dived, but hazard was a clown for getting involved at all, just let

GL2 – aye, I can see Ki playing in Spain, but not for one of the top two.

It’s unfortunate, but ball players have never been adequately protected in our wee backwater, which is yet another reason for us to get the hell out. We need players who can adapt to the very different demands of our domestic league and the “proper football” they will experience in European competitions.

I don’t think Ki could do that, hence his limited amount of starts in domestic games. He was right to move on and I wish him well.

  21. Burmley78, you say you would ask your own boy to apologize if it had been him

would you be happy for someone to call him a scumbag for what he done

  22. TTTT we as a club should be dictating how Scottish football is played .. Not every club in Spain plays like Barca. And barca have only played that way recently. Ki is playing well in the EPl which is more kick and rush than the spl.

We can put a couple of pints on it..

  23. Long ago, ally McCoist was a ball boy.

He too lay on the ball to hide it.

Ref was correct (violent conduct) can be against; a player, official, spectator and/ or a ball-boy – red card.

Up to FA to decide what further action but it will be minimum 3 match ban.

Note: Police have to get involved – the boy (in England) is a minor (aged 17).
