Prima Facie Day!

865

Prima facie day is here!  Neil Doncaster spent weeks telling us that the SPL had yet to establish if Rangers had a prima facie case to answer in connection with the alleged illegal registration of players.  Today he confirmed to the SPL board and the media that they do indeed have a case to answer.

Rangers Employee Benefit Trusts have been the source of considerable controversy since 2010 when it emerged that HMRC had taken action against the club, at the time claiming in the region of £24m.  EBTs had been recorded on Rangers accounts for a decade without much comment, so there was no reason to assume the club had made payments to players out-with the oversight of the football authorities.

On 22 February this year Celtic Quick News asked the question, were these EBT payments recorded with the SFA, or did Rangers hide them?  There was little reason for the club to hide them, unless, perhaps, they had something to else hide, which was beginning to look the case.

Today we have our answer.  Whatever is left of what some regard to be Rangers FC will be subject to some of the most severe disciplinary procedures levelled in the history of football.  Appropriate penalties for subverting the game for over a decade are impossible to define.

Celtic fans are not the only ones to lose from this illegal registration of players but they suffered significantly.  Five league titles went to Rangers, in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011.  All of these titles will be stripped from Rangers records and awarded to Celtic.

You can look forward to 12-in-a-row day soon, which is simply, CHAMPION!

I just can’t understand your logic.

Although you state that you believe that we were cheated, your rational seems as though you feel that we haven’t earned these titles.

In any other sport ,if someone has cheated then the runner up or their opponent is awarded the prize.

Why would Celtic not be deserving of this?

QOTS,StMirren,Dundee ,all deserves the cups that were cheated away from them.

    Dundee Utd also.

Their chairman was in the last weeks of his life ,dying with cancer ,and they robbed him of a day of glory. They robbed a dying man.

They robbed Tommy Burns in an earlier period .A period where we cannot prove cheating.

But we can prove it during the latest EBT era.

I am known for not wearing Celtic clobber.I rarely wear Celtic colours ,my adage has alway’s been ithat i don’t need to wear Celtic colours to show my support.Celtic are in my heart ,my heart is green and white.Having that private knowledge is enough for me personally.

That being said ,you have stirred me ,and when we are awarded those titles ,bet your bottom dollar i will rub it into them.I will wear a 12 in a row T-shirt with pride.

They are already claiming that their history remains.

It is essential that the history books are re written to set the records straight.

Neil Lennon feels that same as me.He wants the medals and titles that he was cheated out off.

I can’t thank Peter Lawell enough for going after them on this issue.

I believe that it is his major goal.

We will never receive financial compensation ,but we can receive sporting compensation.

Celtic will welcome the chase with honour.

Lets hope for transparency in this vote. As Celtic supporters we should be able to judge those willing to take the silver shilling. They should not benefit from a vote that allows them to escape proper Justice. I would back any campaign that seeks to boycott those clubs that decide to vote on their own economic position rather than a just outcome. Reading the above story I would imagine that Kilmarnock could be top of that list.

Celtic – 12 in a row and deservedly so; a new world record likely to increase annually and unlikely ever to be beaten.

Naegers – None in a row and equally deserved.

Why do the huns have such difficulty getting their heads around the simple concept that history can and has been changed? And in their case most likely will.

Who won the Men’s 100m in the 1988 Olympics? Is there anyone out there who still regards or treats Ben Johnson as the winner of that event? Or who looks upon Carl Lewis’s gold medal as any different or less worthy than his many others?

Surely it’s a relatively simple concept to grasp, even for a hun? A sporting event is held. A cheat wins. The cheating is subsequently exposed. The cheat’s result is adjusted accordingly. With the net result that the best non-cheat is awarded victory. Simples…

  6. Paul67

Dunfermline played one ineligible player in one game in the Scottish Cup competition last season = Banned from the Scottish cup for one year.

RFC in Liquidation played ineligible players for a decade ? in the yearly SPL Competition in hundreds of games = ?????????????

The punishment must equate to the seriousness of the crime. WE ARE WATCHING SPL / SFA WE EXPECT YOU TO DO YOUR JOB PROPERLY !

  7. 4 SPL chairmen had meetings with PL which was to be kept hush hush, they produced facts and said they will go under if Newco not accepted back in.

Spoke to Celtic because they have asked PL to plead with fans not to boycott away grounds.

Newco will get sanctions this was agreed by chairmen, PL told them he will vote no but we’re up against it.

Lads it could be rubbish and it better be but i just thought i would let everyone know.

  8. Unsurprisingly where RFC (various versions) are concerned, there appears to be a lot of smoke and mirrors around. Agendas are not only allowing confusion but promoting it.

Everyone – remember this – RFC New Club 2012 is not the same club as Rogue FC 1872 and should not be punished for any wrong doing of the original Rogue FC 1872.

The dual contract investigation centres solely around the old club. Any punishment should be applied against the old club. If the old club is no longer in existance then the merits of the charges should bring retrospective penalties. This is likely to mean stripping of titles and trophies. And dignity and integrity. Stripped.

The new club is completely separate. The issue surrounding the new club is that it is not a member of any football association or any league. Normal processes exist for such a club to apply for membership of a league and they should be followed. What is being discussed is a short-circuit route to the top of the tree.

The discussions around this process is not admittance with “punishments” for the old club, but what “cost” does the new club have to pay in order for the existing processes to be short circuited and allow a brand new club to skip 3 divisions and enter a league that it has not earned the sporting right to play in.

“Punishment” for old club for old club crimes.

“Cost” of skipping three divisions for new club.

Don’t let the smike get in the way of the mirrors.

Anyone hear the sound of contrition yet?? Nope? Me neither.

My view – stick to the rules. Punish the old club and let the new club apply for a place in Division 3 as it should.

  9. Green Lantern (((((0))))) on

    An Fear Dearg.

And the other salient point in both Johnson’s and Naegers’ case is that neither would have won these titles

    IF THEY HADN’T CHEATED.

  10. garygillespieshamstring on

    Hen1rik

If that is true and the four are that strapped for cash, PL should name the voters, let the boycott take place and then sit back and watch the whole thing unravel.

We should also screw up the tv deal by refusing access to paradise for the tv people.

    I agree with TTTT

It is vital that the systematic cheating on that scale is left. For me they are dead. Removing them is enough for me. Leaving them empty will lead to natural curiosity. Additionally it weakens the argument that it went on before. Their actions should be enshrined in the record books. Yes history is always rewritten by the winners but we are tims and our children’s education is more important.

I spoke to a couple of people on Twitter and they said he’s talking bunkum lol, that puts that to bed then.

    That’s enough to sink them.

  20. SPL Membership Criteria –

A2.5.3 A Club participating in the League must:-

A2.5.3.1 itself, or through a subsidiary or holding company of such Club, own its Registered Ground; or

A2.5.3.2 have such other rights of occupation or tenure in its Registered Ground as may be approved by the Board.

As dead rangers still hold the SPL share, I wonder if by moving the stadium to Sevco they have further compromised their SPL ‘membership’.

I also wonder if a case could be made that their SPL ‘membership’ is so thoroughly compromised that they shouldn’t, in fact, have a vote on 4 July.

  21. !!Bada Bing!! on

hen1rik -Killie and Hearts will vote for them as they are close to the big “L” as well, they will want a precedent to follow.

The only thing I’m sceptical about now is why we have kept quiet on this, i said months ago PL should’ve came out but when i thought about it, they hadn’t been liquidated or found guilty of anything so it would’ve made us look daft but now they have been found guilty of cheating i think it’s time we came out with a statement or do you think I’m wrong ?

To use your analogy. In essence what we are being asked to swallow here is Ben Johnson being allowed to carry on as “The Ben Johnson” but instead of running 100 meters like everyone else he’s to do 110, as a penalty.

It’s nonsense and would never happen in any other sporting arena football or otherwise. Even the third division should be seen as a bonus for them. As any new club wishing to be granted membership needs to have posted 3 years accounts. This is a newco, so no accounts should mean no membership.
