Prima Facie Day!

865

Prima facie day is here!  Neil Doncaster spent weeks telling us that the SPL had yet to establish if Rangers had a prima facie case to answer in connection with the alleged illegal registration of players.  Today he confirmed to the SPL board and the media that they do indeed have a case to answer.

Rangers Employee Benefit Trusts have been the source of considerable controversy since 2010 when it emerged that HMRC had taken action against the club, at the time claiming in the region of £24m.  EBTs had been recorded on Rangers accounts for a decade without much comment, so there was no reason to assume the club had made payments to players out-with the oversight of the football authorities.

On 22 February this year Celtic Quick News asked the question, were these EBT payments recorded with the SFA, or did Rangers hide them?  There was little reason for the club to hide them, unless, perhaps, they had something to else hide, which was beginning to look the case.

Today we have our answer.  Whatever is left of what some regard to be Rangers FC will be subject to some of the most severe disciplinary procedures levelled in the history of football.  Appropriate penalties for subverting the game for over a decade are impossible to define.

Celtic fans are not the only ones to lose from this illegal registration of players but they suffered significantly.  Five league titles went to Rangers, in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011.  All of these titles will be stripped from Rangers records and awarded to Celtic.

You can look forward to 12-in-a-row day soon, which is simply, CHAMPION!

  3. I find the most intriguing thing about today’s “revelations” the statement that the delay is due to D&P’s non-cooperation.

Yet more evidence that D&P have been acting solely on behalf of RFC(recently demised) all along and I would certainly think that the investigation into their activities will see them ending up on a slab alongside said ex-football club.

It would also be interesting to know whether they have overseen the shredding of any legally important documentation. I am sure that too would have been the result of an oversight.

Funniest statement of the day has to go to the hunnite who posted his indignation that RFC(recently demised) are being so harshly punished for what is just a minor oversight in their documentation. Do they really still believe that nonsense?

the fascists, captilaists or what ever you want to call yourselves have decided that the only option they are willing to consider is a fixed market were they control all access.

All artificial means available will be used to support clubs who cannot provide for themselves. Clubs, who, in a free market would not be able to compete in an open market, are dependent on handouts from unscrupulous old firm types.

  6. So how will the vote go, based on public indications, nothing factual;

    NO TO NEWCO

Still not a certainty they’ll get blocked, but I’m hopeful they don’t have the necessary support.

Going to an interesting couple of weeks.

    Tom Mc…,

what vote, why are you advocating they should hae a vote, they do not qualify for a vote.

As long as that idea is offered some will take it as a right.

They dont qualify, no quarter given.

  9. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

Oh and either D&P or BDO will be invited, green is not a part of Scottish football, he owns real estate not a footbal club.

  10. I don’t think that the Motherwell FC statement is definitive. I believe it’s ambiguous and open to interpretation. Let’s hope that their proposed meeting with supporter’s groups has the desired affect.

    ht,

if Celtic supporters cant show solidarity, why expect others to fight our battles

  12. Canamalar

I’m not looking for anyone to fight our battles, it has always been my belief that Celtic would vote no.

However, in this instance we need allies and I hope that the supporters of other clubs are able to apply sufficient pressure to persuade their chairmen to say no.

I really hope I’m right mate.

  13. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    ht,

motherwell are giving their support the opportunty of consultation, dont remember out board offering th same courtsey.

Because we hope they will do the right thing does not guarintee anything, and as long as no consultation is offered and people continue buying ST’s they will see no need for consultation.

They are all good Celtic men, is something trown at us everytime we request democracy.

Just remind me, was the hun board full of good rangers men

  14. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

Did all those good Celtic men subject the Celtic support to illegal abuse

Did all those good Celtic men participate in the vilification of the green brigade.

Did all those good Celtic men promote and buy into old firm over te objections of the support.

  15. canamalar

Why would there be any need for consultation between Celtic and supporter’s groups if there was an understanding that Celtic would be voting no?

I believe that a meeting did take place between someone with Parkhead and the GB and what was related to them was enough to convince them that Celtic would be voting no.

As I said, this is a leap of faith but we as Celtic supporters have no sway over any of the other clubs, we can only hope that our own club do the right thing. I’m sure they will.

  16. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    ht,

so just voting no is all the influence Celtic have.

Sorry far too simplistic\pathetic, the most economically powerful club in the system can only vote no, very naieve.

We’re voting no, and have no further influence.

As ernie has said for long enough Celtic have the power to make and break Scottish football and are denying it, why, only a vote my well buffed shiney white ass, old firm is as old firm does.

Hearts is an interesting one. I think they’d vote no. Not for any egalitarian reason but for 2 other reasons.

    1. Edinburgh huns and East of Scotland huns would have a greater propensity of now following the pre-established mini huns as opposed to a sevco div 3 humiliation. They huns are efter awe huns (I sound like Kojo there) …howweevvvvaaaah Ah hiv news fur ye in the Great Scheme of Things.. Nae Doot! Prima Facie willny be incahoots…

    2. The huns diddled them out of a packet and they will be pissed

  18. Margaret McGill on

    Also

some ex hun now Ross county person got an EBT and Ross County may want to come clean so I suspect that they’d vote no too.

In addition. Ross County’s greatest achievement to date was the 2001 league cup final when the huns beat them with 8 ineligible players on EBT’s. I think Ross County would vote No too.

Celtic will vote no. Anything else is too destructive to imagine.

The subsequent behaviour of the Celtic bored upon a Yes vote is the real interesting question. If that happens Celtic SHOULD resign from the incompetent disgraceful SPL and file law suits if UEFA do not step in immediately to maintain the integrity of the sport.

    maggie,

IMO the vote willl be a secret ballot, silent compliance will be advised as the dignified option, its amazing how dignified silence is now being accepted by Celtic supporters.

I believe this will suit the boreds agenda as opposed to justice,

    maggie,

canvassing for a no vote is not enough.

serving notice to the sfa and spl that litigation for loss of earnings will result, will kill all thoughts of retaining the status quo.

neither the sfa or spl could afford the damages.

Like everyone here I hope they are on the ball, but

Did all those good Celtic men subject the Celtic support to illegal abuse

Did all those good Celtic men participate in the vilification of the green brigade.

Did all those good Celtic men promote and buy into old firm over te objections of the support.

    maggie,

like you, it frightens me, which is why we must keep the pressure on.

The mindless can blindly support, the rest of us must demand conditions.

I’m just short of enough shares to demand an EGM to demand answers to our questions, but I’m mystified as to why its not been put on the agenda.

James Forrest told us PL said there will be no legal challenge when newco is admittedinto the spl.

An EGM would be set to address the specific issues, our only chance to determine the boards agenda, yet its not been mooted before now, why not.

Paul67 continues to offer EL the chance to meet and ask the questions, EL continues to refuse, however there is no end to the people who have offered to take his place, yet Paul67 refuses to acknowledge this, he is intent in outing EL whoever he is, rather than address the concern.

I might :o) not be everyones cup of tea, but I have offered and have no problem dealing with “directors”, every offer has been ignored, yet Paul67 again this evening offered EL the opportunity.

Trick being EL has made his case clear, so whats stopping Paul67 taking the questions to the board and reporting theresponse to EL and therest of us. That’ll be the outing bit I suppose.

I knowit was tongue in cheek, problem being they dont and will likely quote you as a typical Celtic supporter, dnt givethem anything, they are good at thetwist, innit.

As for canvassing, we dont ned to canvass, we just need to moot the point that we will be trying to recover loss of earnings if they vote any newco into the spl, thats plenty to even kill off a vote.
