Raith call out SFA plans for Appellate Tribunal

1262

You wonder if Ally McCoist rues the day he called for the public outing of members of the SFA Judicial Panel which imposed a player registration ban on his club.  One judge, one journalist and one football club, Raith Rovers, were soon outed.  Crossing the Fifers was a mistake.

Raith Rovers are now pointing out the same facts we have discussed here for months:

“We are also concerned that there has not as yet been an opportunity for clubs to receive legal advice from the SFL and/or debate the potential consequences on the smooth running of our league in the event that the Courts are asked to annull/strike down any of the corporate transactions that have led to the current position of Sevco Scotland Ltd as owners of certain assets of the Rangers oldco.

“Indeed, the position as regards the potential sanctions to be applied by the Scottish FA via its Appellate Tribunal has also still to be bottomed out.”

In short, Sevco’s ownership of Ibrox may be nullified by the courts and the SFA will be forced to subvert judicial oversight if it wants to guarantee Sevco participate in football next season.

While these concerns were only expressed online, the SFA were able to ignore the issue, but with Raith Rovers asking the questions Mr Regan will have to look SFL clubs in the eye and tell them what he’s going to do with Lord Carloway.

Lurgan 53

Dwyer O’Hagan, or Lurgan 53 as he was known here, passed away on Wednesday after an illness stretching back to last year.  Dwyer enjoyed our triumphs and defeats on the blog for many years and will be sadly missed by us all.  Our condolences to his family and friends.

    You are right of course

Ernie is entitled to his opinions, but it gets very boring after a while

This anti board paranoia is madness,A couple of years back several posters were accusing the Celtic Board of deliberately losing the league to help keep Rangers afloat financially. That type of madness should have been nipped in the bud.Buty by tolerating it in openess and fairness you lend it a type of credibility it doesnt deserve.

when I rule the world all anti board fantasists will be rounded up and sent to “re education camps” in the west of ireland where they will be made say “I love Dermot Desmond and I love Peter Lawell” over and over and over again until all they can say.And then they will allowed back on CQN

Being a pensioner, I have finally managed to be able to afford a ST (65) to watch my beloved Celtic. According to some people on here, I appear to have wasted my money (the board this and the board that). Well can I just say that it is Celtic FC I support regardless who the custodians are and I always will support them even if I cannot afford the ST and will continue to watch away fixtures via Sky and ESPN. Now I await a total hammering from a certain section of the blog.

Meserine the movie (in 2 parts ) about a French Gangster (based on real events) is a good movie.

However like all these type of movies they can glamorous the ruthless scumbag killers and robbers who think it better to stay in bed all day and then rob money off people who worked for it.

Don’t the board deserve great credit then for the statement and stance they made this week in light of how it will affect our finances?”

    ###

Well yes, no doubt, but for the fact that they couldn’t support allowing the sevco huns into the SPL without risking an enormous financial backlash from the fans.

The point is we have to face up to the fact that the board ARE conflicted. There IS a financial downside to the absence of the huns. It’s one I’d take every time, largely for non footballing reasons, but the board may have a different view.

The board loyalists aren’t prepared to admit the board are conflicted and might be prepared to accept the huns in division 1. They are simply ignoring the possibility. That’s not loyalty, that’s stupidity.

Paul 67 suggested he might be able to swing a private meeting with someone in a suit at CP, not the board. I declined on the basis that if Celtic had something to tell the fans they should tell all of us, not a hand picked special few malcontents. I try to avoid furtive and clandestine goings on in my life, like most non masons. I wasn’t inclined to make an exception in this instance.

  20. Surely only on a Celtic site would we see squabbling at a time when their biggest rivals are, for intents and purposes, dead, when there are negative hun headlines by the day, if not hour, and when a Champions League qualifier is around the corner

I am ashamed to admit that their slow, lingering death has, in recent days, almost made me feel a degree of sympathy for them. However, i am delighted to report that i quickly came to my senses when i heard the orange walks spout their songs of hate today. Even now it brings a smile to my face to realise how much the baddies are hurting!

It’s not fair to make attempts to force someone who has adopted that approach to indulge in the personal nature that the majority do.

This is merely board bashing now ernie, how many times will you move the goalposts before admitting that they got something right despite what you thought would happen, and give them a bit of leeway?

At the risk of getting involved in the debate, any discussions you may have had with the board, or a ‘suit’, would only have been clandestine had you chosen for it to have been. You would have been perfectly at liberty to have raised your concerns/questions then reported the answers to the CQN community as you saw fit. The fact that you did not chose to take up the offer, in the eyes of many posters, means that the continual negativity becomes a bit wearing (although not entirely without merit).

I work in the public sector and get sick of hearing people tell me why something can’t work, rather than how it can (i.e. they continually give problems not solutions). There are a few bloggers here that seem to do the same thing
