Raith call out SFA plans for Appellate Tribunal

1262

You wonder if Ally McCoist rues the day he called for the public outing of members of the SFA Judicial Panel which imposed a player registration ban on his club.  One judge, one journalist and one football club, Raith Rovers, were soon outed.  Crossing the Fifers was a mistake.

Raith Rovers are now pointing out the same facts we have discussed here for months:

“We are also concerned that there has not as yet been an opportunity for clubs to receive legal advice from the SFL and/or debate the potential consequences on the smooth running of our league in the event that the Courts are asked to annull/strike down any of the corporate transactions that have led to the current position of Sevco Scotland Ltd as owners of certain assets of the Rangers oldco.

“Indeed, the position as regards the potential sanctions to be applied by the Scottish FA via its Appellate Tribunal has also still to be bottomed out.”

In short, Sevco’s ownership of Ibrox may be nullified by the courts and the SFA will be forced to subvert judicial oversight if it wants to guarantee Sevco participate in football next season.

While these concerns were only expressed online, the SFA were able to ignore the issue, but with Raith Rovers asking the questions Mr Regan will have to look SFL clubs in the eye and tell them what he’s going to do with Lord Carloway.

Lurgan 53

Dwyer O’Hagan, or Lurgan 53 as he was known here, passed away on Wednesday after an illness stretching back to last year.  Dwyer enjoyed our triumphs and defeats on the blog for many years and will be sadly missed by us all.  Our condolences to his family and friends.

I cannot go back quite that far (i.e. the McPhail incident) however I do recall Billy McNeill and George Connelly facing up to each other at Somerset Park in a league match there in late 1973. Jim Brogan intervened and peace was restored.

In more recent times, Boruc and Naylor “fell out”, and our present manager had on field disagreements with Stephen McManus (Old Trafford) and Aiden McGeady (East End Park)

    fanandpatriot/Philbhoy @ 11:10/11:14…

George Connelly’s performed his fabulous keepie-uppie demonstration at the Dinamo Kiev Euroean Cup Winners Cup tie in January 66.

Jock Stein’s experiment was carried out against Dinamo Zagreb in February 67 just a month before the Vojvodina quarter final.

    We lost 0-1.

The main purpose of the experiment was to create more goal scoring opportunites with John Hughes and Tommy Gemmell having licence to run at Zagreb’s defence and certainly Celtic should have been well ahead at half time.

Celtic team :- Simpson, Cattanach, McNeill, Clark,Hughes, Murdoch, Auld, Gemmell, Chalmers Wallace and Lennox (Jimmy Johnstone replaced Bobby Lennox in the second half).

I think brief highlights of the game the can be seen via the Celtic Viewer on the official Celtic website.

Carl Muggleton is unfairly criticised in my opinion.

He played 13 times in the 1993/94 sesaon and kept 6 clean sheets. All of which were in successive league games.

The unfortunate goalkeepers in those 1-5 and 1-4 defeats at Ibrox in 1988/89 were Ian Andrews and Pat Bonner respectively.

There was reference earlier to the 1973 Penarol friendly in 1973.

Before that game Celtic presented Bill Shankly with a clock inscribed :-

“To Bill Shankly – for victory season 1972/73 – from Celtic Football Club”

Bill’s famous quote about the importance of football above all else is often referred to however after that Penarol game at Celtic Park he made another comment of which our present day “custodians” namely Regan, Doncaster, Longmuir shoud take heed.

Bill said “It’s the men who stand on the terracings and who sit in the stand who make professional football possible.”

In earlier years Jock Stein too expressed similar sentiments with his “football is nothing without the fans…” comment.

Regan, Doncaster and now Longmuir have lost any sense of credibility with the footballing public – they must go!

No Sevco Scotland in the Scottish Football League!

  8. On sky news earlier amidst all the build up and excitement of todays Wimbledon final i saw Tim Henman being interviewed, he responded to a question by saying, ” the beauty about today is it isn’t a foregone conclusion, that’s what sport gives you.”

The SFA blazers would do well to pay heed to the same ethos, i believe i’ve heard it called ‘Sporting Integrity’

How could you tell they were women. I cant tell who’s who with them, there usually all morbidly obese so they are big round and have tits, they were the same clothes, usually trainers, trackies and then a hun top, they have greasy stragly hair, the women dont do make up. Usually the only way I know what one’s the man or woman Is when one of there kids says Mum or Dad and one of them replies, even then I’m not sure.
