Rangers, streetwalkers of football, face their deadline

778

There’s something undignified at the shenanigans at Ibrox right now.  Despite being under no pressure to pay the disputed tax demand, Rangers are tarting around their top player in a desperate attempt to raise money.

After the Plus Stock Exchange suspended dealing in their shares the club stated it would produce overdue accounts for season 2010-11 around the end of this month, which coincides with the end of the transfer window.  Any auditor needs to be in a position to state that the company has enough cash to be considered a going concern before he would be in a position to sign-off the accounts.  Rangers are now in a desperate bid for cash as their self-imposed (late) date to provide shareholders with statutory information has arrived.

Claims were made that a front-loaded war-chest was made available to Ex-Rangers manager, Ally McCoist (still too early?  Hmmmm) at the start of the season and it was subsequently suggested that a £9m bid was rejected for Nikica Jelavic, but now the same player is available for a fraction of that sum – available for cash, that is.

McCoist kept their season alive but as reality dawn and Neil Lennon’s Celtic turned up the heat, his challenge abated.

The trusty old media, for so long a crutch throughout Rangers rather unique history, are set to desert the White Star Line’s most famous vessel.  The day draws near.

For no apparent reason I could think of, I jotted a few thoughts re floating charges, mortgaging season ticket money and Leeds United (oh, I might possibly have mentioned Rangers, but I think I got away with it)

One Hun I do feel pleased for is John Greigg…after the shameful way he was treated..imagine Whyte’s face when Greiggsey strides back in to Ibrox….as a player..

you see Old guard Huns don’t give up without a fight. Greigsy will be applying the Dubin’ on his Addidas Beckenbaurs as we speak…

Doubtless he’ll be joined by other Hun legends such as BFDJ, ‘The Goalie’, Alistair, Terry Hurlock, and wee Nacho to gie them some pace…who knows derek and Bazza might answer the call..?

You can imagine the team talk…

‘we might be skint, we might be auld, they might have Hooper and Stokes but we are ra peepil – let’s get in tae thum right fae the start – nae hauds barred, right!

Just remember its us 12 against the world no jist that bunch a fenian b******s!’

Meanwhile tumbleweed blows around a desolate Ibrox and bells toll in the background…

Aye – good on the Greiggsy crew!

  11. I think that the huns should really be focussing on the positives just now: looks like they won’t need to employ a specialist asbestos removal company to protect their property…

Texting details to my daughter darn sarf.

The story seems to be that Lloyds were paid with future earnings and the lender (Close?) would be repaid from future sales. But if there is no future they will not be repaid.

The securitisation from CW was Ibrox buut that is now with the lender.

If yes, and this is crucial, without a Rangers (Old or New) Ibrox has no buyer or renter for the lender.

For a Newco to have a chance of running a business capable of paying back the borrowed sum they have to play at Ibrox. For Ibrox to be rented the landlord needs a Newco.

A Newco starting in the SPL would reduce payback time but no Newco at all just leaves the land value for the lender.

In the circumstances allowing a Newco to start in Division 3 would be more than generous given the damage Rangers have done.

Anything else would be an affront to our intelligence.

  14. admin is not an easy step with little consequence, they would basically be asset striped with all their assets (players) being sold to make payment and everything else until debt is paid. negotiations talk place i.e. penny in the pound stuff, then there’s the 10 point deduction and strict procedures to makes sure debts are managed and paid, it would have dire effect on they’re ability to compete. if cw has borrowed the money to buy rangers then the 31 million is part of the debt and needs paid, all taxes/paye needs paid, its a nightmare senario for a club whose fans for 20 years + have known only success. what effect will playing second fiddle for a decade have on the loyal? lose the tax case and you can add another 45 million to the bill

    or

insolvancy ~ all this stuff about painless debt free is bull, the stadium, playing staff, name, league status etc would be history, no rangers and though many fans would follow as if nothing had changed it will have changed forever. it would cost 10 of millions to start up a new club and if it had link to rangers the taxman would be demanding monies owed, a new club with rangers as its name, taking the place of rangers in the league, playing at ibrox to the same fans singing the same shite would attract the attention of hmrc. the whole we need a newco rangers is proof, with old firm games etc…

anybody know someone with a spare 70 million to play 3 division football?

  21. @ralphwaldoellison I did stop chuckling temporarily this afternoon when the librarian scowled at me for laughing at today’s posts. Andrew in Belfast, thank you. I’m pondering staying up to see the newspaper stories being mentioned on here, twitter and FB. Also, somebody somewhere has a great sense of humor, my W2 tax statement arrived today. I laughed. Eyes on the prize(s) Celtic.

Jabba and the DR doing what Murdoch and the Sun have done at previous elections. Stop backing the loser.

Although unlike them I’m sure they will be backing the peepil and their essential place in the SPL over the coming weeks rather than trying to change horse and back us!

They want to be the ones to ‘expose’ Whyte to their readership demographic. Then will start the pro newco baws in earnest.
