Rangers, streetwalkers of football, face their deadline

778

There’s something undignified at the shenanigans at Ibrox right now.  Despite being under no pressure to pay the disputed tax demand, Rangers are tarting around their top player in a desperate attempt to raise money.

After the Plus Stock Exchange suspended dealing in their shares the club stated it would produce overdue accounts for season 2010-11 around the end of this month, which coincides with the end of the transfer window.  Any auditor needs to be in a position to state that the company has enough cash to be considered a going concern before he would be in a position to sign-off the accounts.  Rangers are now in a desperate bid for cash as their self-imposed (late) date to provide shareholders with statutory information has arrived.

Claims were made that a front-loaded war-chest was made available to Ex-Rangers manager, Ally McCoist (still too early?  Hmmmm) at the start of the season and it was subsequently suggested that a £9m bid was rejected for Nikica Jelavic, but now the same player is available for a fraction of that sum – available for cash, that is.

McCoist kept their season alive but as reality dawn and Neil Lennon’s Celtic turned up the heat, his challenge abated.

The trusty old media, for so long a crutch throughout Rangers rather unique history, are set to desert the White Star Line’s most famous vessel.  The day draws near.

If there’s a Trojan Horse being wheeled out the guys in better have deep pockets because they will have a whole club to rebuild, and I think it more than possible there will be a queue of creditors ten miles wide and fifty miles deep waiting for their dough if it comes to that.

How are you going to argue with anyone who maintains that a club playing out of the same stadium, with the same colours, in front of the same fans, with many of the same players and – for all we know – their history is a different entity to the one which owes you X amount of million?

People can argue the toss back and forth all they like about Newco’s playing in the SPL or wherever, they can argue the toss about who will sit on the board and everything else … but in the end, these debts only go away if the insititution which is Rangers FC goes away … otherwise they better call themselves Glasgow United and play in pink polka dots, or be prepared to spend the next two years in court fighting it out with HMRC, Close, whoever else is out there etc ….

This goes away one of two ways; with Rangers dead and buried or when someone or a group of someone’s writes a very large cheque, and I tell you, as a tax payer it won’t be me. To save the banking system, I can just about stomach, even if intellectually I know it’s a fraud. To save a bankrupt football club with hatred in its heart and bigotry at its core is where I draw the line.

I think we are witnessing the fruits of seeds sewn by Jock Stein in 1967. Make no mistake, the huns have never and will never, get over us winning the big cup. My great great great grandchildren will still be able to boast about it, and they know that. Murray saw an opportunity to ‘shut us up’ but his financially doped teams failed miserably.

They sing ‘big Jock knew’; He knew how to inflict long term damage on that club more than anyone in our history. Apart from themselves of course…….45 years and counting…..one priceless gold star.

This boy just goes from strength to strength. I take it Portland timbers outbid Rangers?

A fine tweet from @shaysda ”If Jelavic goes will he still get the League winners medal he won in November ?”

Celtic supposed to have had 3 trialists strong rumours Uchebo, Salihi and Caolan Lavery. Report from Fleetwood but no clues….

    …………

Re Micky Mellon the Fleetwood manager, he’s been on the Blackpool Shammy bus, I was in a car showroom on Sat and the salesman said how long you been a Celtic supporter etc, my car has a lot of Celtic stuff, he said he’s been on the bus with his mate Micky M who is a big Celtic fan.

  5. I’m not a person to gloat, I don’t enjoy watching others suffer but I’m standing on the river bank watching and waiting on RFC drowning and I’ve got a smile, no a smirk, on my face.

I still work in the same place I did when we were hours away from going under and the “work mates” from then loved every minute of it and revelled in filling me in with all the details.

Paul67, Phil, RTC and others have given me plenty ammunition over the last few months but I’ve kept my powder dry…….if the stories going around do come to fruition this week then let me tell you, there will not be a hun left unturned when I fire off the 1st volley, I won’t stop til they are dead, dead, dead and then I’ll really go to town.

Celtic, do not throw in a life jacket, they wouldn’t throw it to us.

    Hail! Hail!

    We are Celtic.

I hope they die slowly, a long lingering demise.A festering sore which hopefully will never come alive again.

For all the cheating, fraud, tax evasion and every other bit of Masonic skullduggery they have been up to,

please God let it all be exposed and the dirty horrible thing that is Rangers be wiped from this earth forever.

The sudden sighting of SDM at Murry Park last week and the cardigan being trotted out had me a thinking as well.

I don’t think minty will be their saviour, he is after all their exacutioner, but the brown brogue brigade stick together like dog doo on yer brogues.

But he does have his paws all over things, he still has a degree of control over the LL, will be interesting over the next few days and weeks.

Operation save the hun was going down on snyde tonight, the penny has dropped.

Personally I can’t see past court cases, I have been banging on about it for well over a year now, and what I heard a week or two ago confirms that there will be much money to be made by the briefs in the not too distant, amazing places to hear things are golf courses.

That’s about the size of it, yes. I’ve suspected as much, and written it, since he took over. There’s very little supporting evidence for him ever having been a football fan, far less a Rangers supporter.

Is he the only football fan in the world who didn’t know he’d get an unusual amount of scrutiny taking on the Rangers role? What kind of football fan doesn’t realise that? What kind of Rangers fan?

The old board were dropping hints about it before he ousted them.

In a nutshell mate, you’ve got to the crux of it. This guy never planned them to have a future past however long it took to get his money.

  11. Anyway Celtic were great yesterday. Played below par but scored 3, hit 3 off the wood, Stokes and Forrest even managed to miss a fewer sitters and we are into the first final of the season. Anthony Stokes what a goalscorer – kicked his ankles all day then scored the sweetest free kick this year before sealing the game after some great work from Hooper.

We even managed to get right up Pressley’s nose – fantastic. Anyone still wondering where it all went wrong for Celtic when we signed him would be my answer.

As the window closes I would suggest it’s been another success one for Lennon, Swedish and Polish internationalists signed plus another exciting young African player in. Neil appears to be building a formidable squad.

The 64M $ question was always where did Whyte get the money to pay off Lloyds?

The answer now seems to be from the future and the De Lorean capacitor is now stuck in “Park” with the future heading CWs, way looking for its money back beacuse he has stopped moving.

He gives the impression of being a chancer who took a chance without knowing the rules of the game.

  14. succulence, £31m of money that you and your sorry pals will never spend on Rangers has been borrowed to pay off the bank and pay the players and manager who have failed you this season. How much is that £31m worth to the nice company that gave Motherwell born billionaire extrodinaire it? Now they know they won’t get this dosh in installments as agreed with that great guy Whyte (cos rangers are going up in a puff of smoke) what do you think they will do? Extend the loan? How long can RFC keep going owing allllll of the money they owe and pay the players?

  15. The stuff being rumoured in the DR piece tomorrow is ild news for readers here. it was what we posited as the only scenario that made any sense for Whyte to buy the club. He took a punt, with the fans money, on winning the tax case. he also structured the deal whereas he couldn’t lose! All for £1!

And the media poodled along and helped him pull it all off!

  18. Is this how it ends then?

A bitter night in January. Bored polis at the front door.

The blue gates locked then torn down…?

If it happens I for one will not mourn. Not even for the “decent” RFC fans – they knew what they were supporting.

There is a great scene in The Sopranos, where Carmella has been wrestling with her conscience about how she is enjoying the good life at the expense of Tony’s many victims. Her priest had advised her to “live on the good parts of his life”

But several murders and extortions later her shrink sarcastically asks her “so how is that working for you?”

So it is with these “decent fans”. The death of RFC will do them good…

  19. I take no real pleasure in their demise.

    Well okay a wee bit.

    But i have no sympathy.

At times they were worthy adversaries.

But mostly they were given too many advantages which they took for granted.

    That became their downfall.

    No humility.

  20. The Ghood will prevail on

    Sympathy?

    Never.

Brought up a couple of miles from a stadium that for half my lifetime wouldn’t have paid me to cut the grass, let alone play on it (not that I would have ever wanted to!).

This little fact – and, more significantly the fact that they never apoligised – is lost on Keevins and the folk who would deem me a hater. I’m simply of the late Ian Archer school of thought; I consider rangers ‘a permanent embarassment, an occasional disgrace. Scotland would be better if they didn’t exist’.

The worst moment in Celtic’s onfield history happened in 2005 – Black Sunday.

Had the huns not been financially doped it would never have happened and Martin O’Neill would have handed the reins over to wee Gord as a champion.

My late father, may God rest his soul, told me it was his worst moment as a Celtic supporter, and sadly it was one of his last moments as a Celtic supporter. I’m sure a shiver goes down everyone’s spine when we recall the trauma of that day, and my prevailing memory of it was the look on my dad’s face. And they should never have been near that title, the cheats.

Let us make Black Sunday our rallying call. They are so inured to cheating that it is second nature to them. To hell with them. No newco in the SPL.

Pride comes before a fall, and Murray’s ‘spend a tenner’ speech and all the orc fans’ weareapeepilism is pride of Biblical proportions. And their forthcoming demise is going to be truly Apocalyptic.

Oh, and hahahahaha – the huns are on the brink – I almost forgot to laugh!

    RogueLeader:

100% right to blame the media. There wasn’t a single Celtic fan I know who, after doing even the most cursory digging, could find evidence that Whyte had wealth of any kind. Yet the media sold the fans this “frontloaded warchest” nonsense and the billionaire story.

They are culpable all the way up to the neck, and if the stories are true that Traynor and others have cut part of the story because of concerns it might damage their future working relationships with the club then it simply proves that even now, with Death no longer ringing the doorbell but hammering through the wood in a Cheftain tank, even now they are still too cowed to make a stand.

I will particularly enjoy the near certain blood-letting which will come out of the next SMG AGM when questions are asked about why STV were allowed to go into partnership with a guy who had already done them up like a kipper.

They deserve each other, and when one dies, may they all go down together.

  22. Thanks Zbyszek your a top man to have around!

I like your good self will always be wary of the goatfiddlers, and I would know first hand about the power they have in scotland, but, this time it has gone viral, can the government be seen to bail out fraudsters and tax dodgers, I doubt it.

I dont doubt there are other white knights waiting in the wings, but do they have the money to start a new club, a new hun would cost untold millions, HMRC would demand millions up front, new players would have to be found, no euro football for 3 years min. the list is endless.

In all honesty I can see them die a death.

In the coming months there will in all probability be a new hun club, but it will have the spending power of a Dunfermline, they will have to rent a stadium for a start, that won’t come cheap.

And it can’t come soon enough, if by some miracle they are to be saved, there will be court cases that will hinder them in their goals, that I know for a fact, sometimes the goatfiddlers are a mind of information.

  25. JF – When you think about it all it is actually rather clever and in fact completely bullet proof, all you need is the brass neck. He will not be able to return to Scotland but I am sure he will comfort himself with the several pounds million profits…

there should be several mortified journalists, in fact several should be having meetings with their editors tomorrow. We both know that will not happen though. They will all just be raging it was the DR that broke ranks.

    On a personal note – I hope the Huns survive until after the next Celtic game – I run a boys football team as some of you know – one of my sponsors is a wealthy Oil Company Owner who is also a Hun – he donated his Box as an auction item at our last fundraiser – which was purchased by some guys who are Aberdeen fans but wanted to experience an OF game….I’m thinking 2 scenarios;

I may have to refund or the guys have bought themselves something priceless…?

Incidentally the Hun sponsor is also a serious sponsor of Huns (to the tune of £0000’s/year) – before MBB took over he had very open misgivings…
