Rangers? That wasn’t even a Basket of Assets

891

They can call themselves whatever insolvency practitioners allow them to be called, but even the court assertion, that Charles Green bought a Basket of Assets, not a football club, seems overly optimistic. That lot look more like a Basket of Liabilities than assets.

I told you Joey Barton was a good Celtic man, there to take their money, and self-respect. Their big former Arsenal centre half is four years younger than our big former Arsenal centre half, but good grief! You could forgive him for being short of pace, but acting like an immature simpleton is unforgivable.

Moussa Dembele’s Perfect Hat-trick (one with the head, one with the right, one with the left), was a charm. We watched Henrik give us so much, he deserved to score a hat-trick against Oldco Rangers, but the history book was closed on that one with Harry Hood’s in the League Cup in 43 years ago.

I have witnesses to saying “We’ll have to settle for five instead of seven”, when hearing Leigh Griffiths would miss out today. Dembele (20), put in a performance which defied his inexperience. He looked like the £20m player some think we’ve signed. What’s more, he’ll continue to improve.

Tom Rogic had clearly been identified as our most dangerous creative player. He was hacked throughout, before retiring early in the second half. Scott Brown and Nir Bitton were also on top of their game, controlling the crucial central area.

Both full backs, Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney, got assists, as they created width to allow the central players to do their stuff.

Brendan Rodgers will hopefully highlight that the only two attempts on goal we conceded came a moment after we scored, near the end of each half. Teams notoriously lose concentration after scoring.

I’m off to find out who their no. 4 was. I’ve him down for two assists on his own. Liabilities, to a man – the keeper apart, who did well.

Not often I agree with Tom English but he is right this time IMO.

As I have been saying for weeks just because they call themselves Rangers doesn’t make them our rivals.

They have done nothing to merit being our rivals.

They are desperate to re ignite the old firm tag as it is the only thing that gives them any credence.

They are not in our league.

Excellent result yesterday, almost as good as our first three league results against our nearest rivals in Scotland.

So the filth that sing about child abuse, the slaughter of Catholics, mock dead children, rampage through towns & cities (& toilets) & send bullets & bombs in the post to Celtic staff when their weaknesses are exposed have become incensed at the sight of a few blow dolls draped in Zombie Scarfs, claiming Celtic fans are mocking Suicide.

I can assure you yesterday’s victory is just as good as any victory I experienced over the tax evaders, apologies again if some don’t feel the same way .

    —————————-

Absolutely agree. In some ways, yesterdays result was even better. They now know, although they will probably not admit it, that we are light years ahead of them. Strip away the hype and the media, and what is left is just a shambles from top to bottom.

I will not get into a debate on whether they should even exist, or we should be playing them. That is a different conversation.

For now I relish the fact that we have sent a message out that states that they are seriously deluded if they think they can compete with us.

We had a job to do yesterday which we did professionally. I am delighted.

Although we only obtained three points, this game was about much more than that. We sent out an unequivocal statement of status.

This is a player who was totally relaxed and enjoying the game

    Brilliant

  8. Brillant result , still think we could have upped it a gear or 2 which is scary for the Huns.. Griffiths on the bench aswel.

Big game now on Tuesday , good performance hopefully to give the bhoys confidence for rest of games.

  9. Has Warby congratulated Hibs yet? He may get a move on there is a bit of a backlog building up of teams he has to congratulate. You almost get the impression he is an ignoramus and sore loser but I’m sure it’s all done in a very respectful way as befitting Dignity FC

  10. Still smiling after a great day at CP yesterday.

I read this morning that Warbo doesn’t see a gap between the squads. So I tried to find a word that he might understand and found chasm. It has a few meanings.

One is gap. There is a chasm between Celtic and The Rangers.

Another meaning is a marked interruption of continuity. There is a chasm between Rangers and The Rangers.

Do you get it now Mark?

Becoming homeless or having no permanent home of your own is on the rie in this so called modern western and civilised democracy. Shelter’s figures are illuminating and worrrying and they predict that the level of true homelessness will rise in 2017.

Way back in the 60’s questions started to be asked when the BBC screened a play called Cathy Come Home which tweaked the TV watching populations conscience about just how many people were homeless and how such a thing could happen so easily.

Yet it took until 1977 (roughly 13 years) for the Government to introduce The Housing (homeless persons) Act and even this was a pretty spectacular failure in terms of finding real solutions. But it was a start.

Today, there is no sign of Government moving any quicker or with any greater urgency or insight than back in the 1960’s or 70’s. Having no permanent home is becoming more and more common but no one wants to admit too loudly to such a society failure and such an ongoing failing.

In the interim, people so afflicted have to rely on charity (something in itself which is wholly wrong in this country) and at times charities such as the Celtic Charity Foundation have to rely on bozos like me.

I can’t run, climb, cycle or do many of the physical things others do to raise funds (knee operation in a couple of weeks and sciatica which is a real pain in the arse) but I can sleep out in the elements for one night knowing that I will return home (my own home) to a warm bed and all the comforts that my own home brings.

I will not pretend that last year’s sleepout was not good fun. It was great craic and many a laugh but it is an endurance event where you are either sleep deprived and any lying down has to be done on the concrete floor at Celtic Park.

It poured with rain, and while we were under the shelter of the South stand, quite a few participants complained of being cold and uncomfortable.

But it was only one night.

Others are not so lucky. They have much worse to endure with no home to go to, face the same misery every night, are often in danger of assault or worse and lack confidence and belief in their place in society.

Many homeless people talk about going through each day without having a single person say a solitary word to them — kind word or otherwise.

So, if you feel like sponsoring me or HT or Mynx or anyone else you know who is doing the sleepout then please take the time to contribute.

No contribution is too small or too great and it really will make a difference to someone this winter.

Hopefully it will be clear to all that this is a cause that is dear to my heart.

I have known various people who have been homeless at various times in their life either through addiction, ill health or some other cause. I can think of one chap I knew who used to sleep rough for reasons I won’t go into and who now holds a very senior management position in a bank and has done for a number of years.

His life turned around but someone had to give him a helping hand and persuade him that there was a way forward which did not mean sleeping in doorways and locking himself out of a normal life.

He now has his own home but at one time he thought that would never happen.

    If you can, please help.

Think back to January and McLaughlin of the BBC Scotland sports correspondent not at the Arbroath game but watching Man City on sky , this after his nitpicking and highlighting apparent poor song choices from Rangers fan’s at our 6 – 2 demolition of Hibernian .

Now think back to the Scottish cup final and despite Hibernian fans assaulting Rangers players and causing severe damage to Hampden , the stadium and assault were soon not the story it was the big bad Rangers song book ! The Hibs fans were apparently just exuberant ?

McLaughlin was at yesterdays game but not apparently watching events or listening to the crowd , as we had sectarian singing , sectarian banners and pro terrorist banners all on view from the home team support , worse of all on national suicide day and days after the tragedy the befell a former Ranger , we had dummy’s hanging by the neck on national suicide day of all days ! We could go back even further with the BBC and we had mad men montage of our former manager !

If Rangers fans and groups have not learnt the hypocritical nature of Scotland’s media and it’s government by now then we are lost , not one Rangers man from the club or support should be speaking to any media group that is biased against the club or it’s support and we know who they are the Record , The Sun , the BBC etc . All we ask is parity as we surely don’t live in a country were one mans exuberance is another mans wilful destruction or one mans song book is political and the others is sectarian !

Oh wait maybe we do live in that type of country !

Usually BR is quite reserved in his celebrations but his MONesque celebration yesterday said everything for me, by the way the team we faced yesterday probably that type of game makes us a more attractive proposition to players to join us, I don’t feel comfortable with the hatred but am afraid like all walks of life you play the cards you are dealt with, watching BR yesterday again, that game would be as much of a carrot as the CL whether me, or anybody else likes it or not

It’s even better than that. He says he’s looking at both squads and thinking that he wouldn’t change his. He also says they were still in it at 3.1 and 4.1.

    Now that is seriously delusional.

He is actually suggesting he wouldn’t take any of our players.

That is music to my ears, because if he truly believes that then they will never improve when he is the manager.

  31. Tim Malone Will Tell on

Don’t know what’s happened to Warburton. He was a reasonable guy at Brentford – but I have long thought that there was something more than coincidence about the signing of Lewis MacLeod, Warbo being ‘mutually concsented’ a few weeks later – and then being named Hun manager months later. All very fishy – and nobody down here could fathom why he was leaving a successful side that he was in the process of leading to the EPL play offs.

Incidentally – a fairly unpalatable fact for any lurking Huns (although I suspect they are few and far between today) – is that Brentfod had a far superior squad of players to the current dross at Ibrox.

…and Celtic under Brendan are light years ahead of the likes of Brentford.
