It’ll be a sad day for tennis if kyrgios wins Wimbledon.

The guy should be papped out, a disgrace to the profession , a great talent too…..imo.

Genuinely interested here, what makes you say that?

  2. ” a bundle of nervous energy”

I think jack and victor said it best

    he is an arsehole

I think John Gorman left ,against his wishes , in 1970.

He was a left back so at that time him and Danny played at opposite side of the field .HH

  4. John Gorman may not have achieved a first-team regular place as a player with Celtic, but is fondly remembered by his fellow members of the “Quality Street Gang”, most of whom went on to achieve great things. Possibly, having to compete with the quality of some of his fellow players back then was partly to blame for his inability to shine and stand-out from the crowd.

However, despite the lack of success at Celtic, he has been quoted from an interview as having said that his greatest achievement was that one game for Celtic (source: CU Podcast 209). That we can admire.

We hope him all the best.

  5. The thing I am most upset and concerned about with the tennis fellas behaviour is he keeps swearing in front of our future Kings, how very dare he/

  6. MACCARGO

HIs shouting, swearing for a start.

The only thing he lacks is a hun tap IMHO….. A talent no doubt, but no class on court.

  7. Kyrgios beat himself there. Looking to his box and asking them what to do in a tie-break where Djokovic was serving for the match. That is not their job- there is no new tactic to be invoked – two hours into the match. Kyrgios was evading his own responsibility to turn it around. His head was getting invaded by a box of frogs and he chose to give them head room. He started hitting out in an uncontrolled way- letting the fates decide the outcome instead of his own undoubted talent.

Kyrgios has a troubled history and has been, undoubtedly, an arsehole on court as was McEnroe, another individual genius of a player, in his time. As was street fighter, Jimmy Connors and a few others. He has his own demons with depression and with his relations with his own family and his Tennis federation. That is not to excuse being an arsehole- only the people on the receiving end of his arseholery can do that.

But we, the viewers, learned to forgive and even love McEnroe and Connors. We learned to love Andy Murray whom we saw as a “choker” because we mistook losing a final or two to one of the great players of this era as being a “choker”, but every win is hard earned and Andy earned his without his opponents “choking”.

I hope Kyrgios takes responsibility and owns his own demons so he can do his talent justice. In the course of doing this he will become not just less of an arsehole, but a better human and a better sportsman

Understood, for me though it’s the other way around. I see Djokovic as the hun. Opinions…arsesholes…etc.

  9. I missed a lot of the tennis to see a great GAA semi-final between Kerry and Dublin. Kerry’s early lead was whittled away by a battling and brave Dubs team that did not deserve to lose (neither did Kerry) but the Kingdom scored the winning point with a 55 yard free in the last kick of the game after 5 minutes overtime when their player volunteered to take the kick and then made it. That is what sport is all about- a shot to nothing but the ability to control your own emotions and your jelly legs to let your technique take over and just follow your usual process, regardless of the importance of the occasion.

That is what separates the talented from the great.

Yip it’s about opinions pal..,👍🤗.. I never mentioned Novac or arseholes…

    Bring on the new season….

Kyrgios is different from the norm. So he gets angry with himself and his team and lets rip. It would be boring if everyone behaved in exactly the same staid, play the game and keep quiet way. Kyrgios brings something different to the game and gets labelled an arsehole. My God he said a bad word. Who died?

I hope he doesn’t keep the snowflakes of CQN awake tonight.

Don’t worry. The big bad man’s away now. Go back to bed.

I did wonder if Tam was a relative of Tony Donnelly, another Gorbals bhoy who used to post on here.

  14. In individual opponents sport I do think a standard respect for your opponent and the umpire is needed.

He did lose it for himself. Djorcavik let him rabbit on. Other opponents must be distracted by his antics.

  15. I did, in a jack and victor “john wayne is an arsehole” parody.

for me his antics spoil the already too long tennis game.

  16. TOM…. Thank you, but could not just have said SFTB.

My paranoia kicks in when posters generalise… Thanks again. 👍

  17. Tom

I like the guy but he was an arsehole when he rounded on his team in a crucial tie break. It’s self defeating behaviour in a very talented athlete trying to break through the Slam winner’s circle.

I am neither offended or disgusted by his behaviour but as a coach with a smattering of knowledge of sports Psychology, I know this behaviour is self defeating.

McEnroe learned to channel his anger. He used it when his standards dropped against “lesser” opponents to re-motivate himself. He never used it against Borg- whom he respected and he never used it again against Connors after Jimmy grabbed him by the neck and offered him outside.

    P.S.- snowflake was funny
