Tom McLaughlan I have been looking forward to your post re Celtic and Argentina, have I missed it?

    You’ve got muxed ip.

I posted about some old Argentinian men despising Celtic and someone else, can’t remember who, said he had a story about Argentinians and Celtic and he’d post it later.

    I haven’t seen it.

I heard a wee bit in the car and Nick was not saying he’d be back when asked a question, I think he will go for it again, Novak said he’d be in many Slam Finals, I like mavericks not kowtowing to the status quo

Swearing on Centre Court…. flog him!!!!

From the bits I seen, Novak was Incredible again. He has some record.

I was at John Gorman only game for Celtic first team, against Hamilton, after we beat them 10-0 in the league cup at Celtic Park

He never wanted to leave the club

    His family was devastated

John Gorman was a pundit on Sky a few weeks ago,1st or 2nd Division stuff he looked well

SFTB- agree with most of the Kyrgios analysis, he seems to want to create needle in a match to get him going…..i wonder if he would play a tournament with nobody in his ‘ box’….?

I think it was the playoff final Wycombe Against Huddersfield? A lovely guy HH

  8. Have to eat a wee bit of humble pie. I was saying the other day that I didn’t think much of women’s football. Just seen France score a great goal to go 3 up against Italy. (As I type, they make it 4 and it is still the 1st half.)

    GARYGILLESPIESHAMSTRING:

Just finished listening to an enjoyable show.Bennys Bar with the piano in the backroom was quite an experience before and after the game, and then a short dander to get the boat back home,at nine o’clock, either The Royal Scotsman or The Royal Ulsterman.Back in the day, midweek game results would be got by phoning Benny’s,oh how we have progressed. So many of the fans I travelled with have passed on,moved to other countries or,view the game from pub, club or their own homes.

    Many thanks GARY…enjoyed the show.

  13. Lucky enough to go to both Wimbledon Centre Court and Queens this season for 6 days !

Great experience to be honest. Really enjoyed it.

The crowds have their favourites for sure. Mostly establishment figures like Nadal and Emma and any Brit they can hang their hat on such as Cameron Norrie.

Novak was never going to be an establishment type despite trying hard to make friends. He is a truly awesome machine of a player who won despite being the anti favourite in almost every round pre the final. He is brave, in my view, to stand up for his beliefs despite it limiting his potential to be the ‘greatest ever player’ statistically. Huge credit to him today.

Kyrgiois rocks the boat and is a rebel. Cow tows to no one and I loved him for that. Another amazing talent. A real rebel. I hope he sorts his demons out and becomes the star he can be.

2 great anti heroes gracing the court and putting on a show before a royalty who would far rather have seen Rafa and Norrie.

Just my thoughts on it. Hopefully Novak can get 2 more slams and show the world his true capability. Against the odds.

  14. it’s an act of touching the ground with your head as a sign of deference,

think it originated with old Chinese Emperors, who were regarded as Gods by their subjects.

Not sure if you were referring to my comment about pre season results being as meaningless as anything else in the sporting world in terms of as a guide to how things are developing ?

I cannot not disagree with you more as to their value in that regard. Frankly there are too many cases to mention. Rangers v Real Madrid last season only 2 weeks pre Malmo dumping them out of Europe in Qual 3 is most recent. Others have quoted 5-1 losses to Arsenal by Celtic and humiliations by Man U youth team pre really special Celtic seasons.

I don’t know any coach who is not chopping and changing their formula in these times. Maybe rapid with 2 weeks to their season starting less than us with 3 but it seemed both were. This cannot possibly lead to strong tactical showing. Nor would it be expected to.

I do appreciate it is entirely up to fans if they want to play armchair QB and moan at the team now or any time they pay to go to CP. That’s the nature of sport these days and has long been how it is with Celtic. Sadly that won’t change. Few fans realise the energy they generate impacts on the park. The energy and confidence players take to a game often comes from how they are feeling about themselves and how their support engages. I don’t expect Celtic fans will change in my lifetime. Twas ever thus even when we were winning European Cup games after Xmas. Some still moaned at Callaghan or Hood or Yogi or Brogie. Keep criticising as it suits you. You are right it is your right to do so. It would be boring if we were all the same.

  16. No apologies needed Burnley ,

There are a lot of phrases & sayings we rarely see written , so we write them as we hear them,

As you say spell check can also be a banana skin,

I’ve got them wrong as well but if & when I do, I would welcome someone politely pointing it out.

One that crops up regularly enough here, someone agrees with a point made & posts Here Here, when the expression is Hear Hear, Of course the best one ever was on a Hun site when the Poster was trying to describe someone as a scapegoat and ended up calling him an escaped goat,
