Respecting the journey

810

This is not a journey!  Respect to the Celtic marketing guys who ran his headline on a story discussing the Champions League qualifying draw, which takes place on 22 July, the same day the players return to training after a short summer lay-off.  You can tell when people enjoy their work.

Last week’s article, ‘We’ve missed them and now we want them back’, referring to the absence of Champions League nights, also had a delicious twist.  That’s all we want back!

It’s been a good news day all round, with Peter Lawwell handing over a £10k cheque to Yorkhill Children’s Charity on your behalf.  The iconic Glasgow children’s hospital closes tomorrow with services moving to the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Delighted also that Celtic received a Platinum Award from the SFA for the standards of their facilities and governance.  We have been awarded by more prestigious bodies but it’s good to be endorsed anyway.

Mike Ashley…….. five counsel to enforce a contract!  It’s like going into a fist fight with a bazooka.  There will be carnage in the weeks to come………..

    More good news………..

    CELTIC have won a major battle by persuading Honduras to ditch Emilio Izaguirre from their Gold Cup squad so he can ready for the Champions League qualifiers.

    The Hoops full-back played for his country in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Brazil this week and was expected to feature in the tournament, which starts next month.

    That would have meant an exhaustive summer with virtually no rest for Izaguirre and he would have missed the Champions League qualifying rounds.

    But Honduras manager Jorge Luis Pinto has excluded Izaguirre from his Gold Cup squad to allow him to play for Celtic in the qualifiers.

    Pinto said: “Emilio Izaguirre will not be included in the Gold Cup squad following a request from his club Celtic to our Federation.”

    I hope that Martin joins the Bhoys and displays why he is being paid 80,000 a week. What an incredible signing that would be, even if it is only for 6 or 12 months.

    The Jason Denayer thang won’t have been missed by a Dad that wants the very best, and it is obvious JD’s auld fella wants that for him as well, for his Son, whether he is being paid 1 or 80,000 a week.

    A lot of pitfalls having access to that Money so young.

    Love Izzy, we need him for CL, you know he will give everything he has.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ronny has just given him all the confidence in the World.
    That CL group stage is a very unforgiving place though, it is the very best attackers in World Fitba that all these Celts will be facing.
    I witnessed some excellent signs of major progress against Inter Milan, in a Winner takes all round, home and away.
    This Season coming we will have the element of surprise, and I feel that will get us out of the Group Stages, assuming we get past these tricky qualifiers (excellent preperation – Neil should have been supported like this as well, IMHO).
    I hope we bring in competition for Emilio, he gives his all every single game (he deserves a rest now and again) but we need to strengthen that area. Charlie definitely cannae play that position at CL level.
    Ray Wilkins: I imagine Celtic were ‘distraught’ when this didn’t happen
    Former England midfielder Ray Wilkins has explained why he thinks Celtic will feel aggrieved over Rangers not winning promotion into the Scottish Premiership.
    Former England midfielder Ray Wilkins told talkSPORT he believes Celtic will feel aggrieved that Rangers weren’t able to fight their way into the Scottish Premiership.
    Rangers missed out on promotion into the top flight of Scottish football, after a heavy defeat at the hands of Motherwell, who were too strong for the second flight side over the course of two legs.
    While some Bhoys fans may be pleased the club’s long standing rivals will spend another season outside the Premiership, Wilkins has suggested it will have a negative impact on the league in general.
    “I would imagine that Celtic were quite distraught when Rangers didn’t get promoted and Motherwell did – Scottish football just isn’t the same when they’re not in there and pitting themselves against each other,” he said.
    Football is more of a product in the modern day than ever before and it’s important any league is able to sell itself effectively all over the world.
    TV deals and various commercial opportunities back up the income streams of top flight sides and Rangers in the Premiership is something, which will arguably make Scottish football a more valuable product.
    It’s also arguable that having Rangers in the top flight is something, which will benefit Ronny Deila’s side from a development perspective.
    Rangers certainly don’t have the quality to forensically examine various parts of Celtic’s team, but they represent a derby which creates a different type of pressure and expectation.
    One of the only ways for any Celtic player to discover what the history of the rivalry between the sides really means is to be involved in an intense derby clash.
    Maybe 2016/2017 will be the season that the teams are brought back together. Ha..
    They are scared beyond Belief, their whole World has crumbled. Their Belief, mainly was in the Father of Lies, I genuinely feel sorry for the decent Rangers supporting people that love Football.
    His reply-I certainly don’t miss having to change my shirt at half-time cos it got covered in spit every time I took a throw-in.
    Lying git. When he played for Rangers,we had a running track round the pitch. The world spittoon champion couldnae hit the target from there.
