Right back challenge

913

We can convince ourselves we have players who can fill the right back role, and this may be true for a few more weeks, but Mikael Lustig was one of the frailties that cost us against AEK last August, and we don’t even have him now.

So far the transfer window has gone well, but a team is as well as its weakest link. Failure to get a right back who can stop crosses into the box has to be avoided.

That night in Athens is all the motivation we should need.

  1. The huddle

Don’t forget the Irish captain ,. West Indian bowler and a couple of other imports – multicultural indeed

  2. !!Bada Bing!! on

Never seen anything like it,sensational, the Stokes 6 changed the game, a Russian linesman moment

Scores the same after super over

England win on the fact they hit more boundaries during the game –

so was that rule decided before or after the game finished.

I think there will be nae mer new Zealand cheap lamb

GREENPINATA@2:12pm -sorry mate but why would you expect KT or his agent to come out and say anything.Lenny has already told us that KT has a valuation that Arsenal to date haven’t met.Surely it’s the club that if they don’t want to sell the boy only need to say so

  5. And man of the match Ben Stokes was born in NZ.

That 6 he got from the ball hitting his bat while running in was unbelievable

From what I understand the rules of eligibility for International Cricket are different from soccer and other sports where you need to be a citizen of the country before you represent them.

With cricket ,if you play in England and the cricket authorities want you to represent them they offer you a contract (the same way a club side would) .Morgan could decide next year to sign a contract with Ireland.

At least that was what i was told last night by a fella in the Gravediggers pub!!!!

  7. FU

Before the competition started – it’s not the SFA

NZ magnanimous in defeat – they were very unlucky

MM-are you saying KT should stay with us because he has a love for Celtic 🤔

Or do you think he has played us through the GB🤔

  9. Rounders ( sorry I meant cricket ) was the sport the British Empire gave to the masses.

Does that make it imperialistic ,colonial and subsequently racist. Notwithstanding downright boring .Should it be banned ? 😁😁

I’ve just read those comments. Somebody who believes that multiculturalism is a “disastrous social experiment” is more to be pitied than argued with.

Agree that such boneheaded guff has no place on any blog I would ever want to be associated with, and especially not on one devoted to Celtic, whose very name was chosen to promote multiculturalism.

Spill the beans fae the 🏌️‍♂️

I get what Melbourne Mick means but if/when KT goes it should be with every one of our best wishes … the wee bhoy is a legend .. if he stays even better

As for the posters yearning for yesteryear when CQN was so great why not post and stimulate your own debate :-)

Tontine Tim get your bahookie back on here.. if the echo chamber annoys just close your eyes and move onto the next post

So far am delighted with Neil and his additions, will make an (un)informed opinion a bit further into the season but the article on CQN about making wee Jamesy a Celt for life fair made me smile

SydneyTim … wee Jamesy here for 9@row … hopefully to add to his 17 medals so far… sometimes we should appreciate the players who actually want to be here … (that’s not a dig at KT as I also think he wants to stay as well :-) but sometimes what we want isn’t always the option we choose

  13. Haven’t watched the golf this week but I’m sure I heard earlier in the week the big names saying course was too easy .

    Where are they now

  14. Not a huge Tennis fan but watched the final. It was incredible and Novak Djokovic is surely a complete genius.

To beat the GOAT on his fav court in front of his partisan crowd whilst he is playing at his best and dominating most of the match…..?…..it was an impossible win by a man who REFUSED to give in.

As for the Cricket?….could not care a jot.

I live in ENGERLAND and heard a huge roar from next door who are nice people but love cricket.

    I knew what it ment.

Seems a joke that they even have a cricket world cup and even worse that they have now decided it is a big deal.

    Typical English

    @@@@@@@

Spot on mate . But you stopped short . The 3 you mentioned are serial offenders , but we have occasional offenders in Callum and jamesie. Two top players I agree ,but like the other 3 when the going gets rough they disappear . And looking at the scousers signings he has

added 3 at 6 ft 4 inch ,that’s added to arfield , jack , and Halliday who bullied them the last twice at the Victorian lavvie . Wish to god this window was closed before we run out of players we didn,t get .

  16. One thing is for sure.

All the drama and talk today over big sporting occasions .

Only can happen when they are watched on council telly.

Shame on the OPEN GOLF.Who a few years back took the silver from Sky tv and completely shafted the worlds biggest and best tournament.

Next week [Sunday] I will not even be watching the final round as I am taking the kids away for the day.

I know my dates and I would never have booked myself into family stuff on the last day of the open championship.

Usually I either go to in in person or watch it all day on tv.

However since the switch I really have lost a bit of interest.

Even if Sky was free to air I would not really enjoy their coverage .The open golf WAS all about the BBC coverage for me and the excellent Peter Alliss and others

  17. The cricket world cup has been going since 1975 – probably covers 1.5 billion of the world’s population – lot more than the US world series sports

  18. A “pre-season” World Cup ?

I wonder if the rags will mention the Sevs pumping of Marseille is payback for the early 90s when Bernard Tapie’s Marseille cheated the original Huns out of a champions league final ???

The irony would be lost :-)

    GFTB-hi stranger 😉

I’ve been sworn to secrecy by his dad ,and if you knew his dad you would definitely be sworn to secrecy as well 😉

  20. As the Past is invariably viewed as having been a better place than the Present, then I have to treat the `CQN was once wonderful`with that view mind.

I suppose what is possible, though is that five years of sucess plus three years of unparalled success leads to a different mindset which, in turn , leads to a different undercurrent of feeling on the Blog.

If the mood HAS changed, then it is because of the nature of the posts rather than anything obscure.

LAZYDYNAMITE-I honestly think sky has brought the golf coverage up to a different level 🏌️

  22. Fairhill Bhoy 8.21pm

Usually lurking … trying not to post but have the backbone of a newt :-)

I have read between the lines of your posts about KT and I think the young man is a bit torn between a rock & a hard place … even though the money is obviously crazy I think the opportunity to play against the very top player is a carrot none of us “Celtic fans would ever leave” .. I think KT is a far better footballer defensively & going forward than Andrew Robertson, again I would love him to stay but if/when he does I will be cheering him & his new team on… still hope he stays but trying to prepare for the worst :-)

  23. lets all do the huddle ? on

the wilson picket world cup has been incredible

made by the fantastic crowds at so many of the games

by the indians, pakistanis, sri lankans, bangladeshis etc

all the folk the racist little englanders want out their country

and in can say that as someone who has watched it for 40 years and like to see england do well in it

even if i like to see them lose at other sports

  24. Let’s all do the huddle
