Right back challenge

913

We can convince ourselves we have players who can fill the right back role, and this may be true for a few more weeks, but Mikael Lustig was one of the frailties that cost us against AEK last August, and we don’t even have him now.

So far the transfer window has gone well, but a team is as well as its weakest link. Failure to get a right back who can stop crosses into the box has to be avoided.

That night in Athens is all the motivation we should need.

Philbhoy…indeed! Ask big Mikel (legs are gone) Lustig…

Yes, it’s good to have pace but there is so much more to the game…Ollie Burke?

Beautiful part of the world Auckland , we’re all guilty of not responding to

some posters, but we all nod our heads or spill our drinks at some comments

and then we log off saying ” that was a great night on the blog ‘ without

contributing anything, and we’re all guilty but thats life.

I’m off to Mo Leabha as the Irish Bhoys say.

“…SOT was correct when he said this place has turned intae an echo chamber. Think I’ll join him.”

I actually thought you were being funny when you posted that…

That you would echo his sentiments while complaining about this place becoming an echo chamber..

    echo echo echo echo…. :o}}}

    ……………………

The discussion about what’s happened to this place will tend to reflect exactly what’s happened to this place…

Too little respect for other people’s views & too many who take a binary view of the world.

In their eyes if you don’t subscribe to their dogma about Celtic you are fair game for a slagging off.

Hope EVERYONE has a grand day

A lot of talk about strengthening the defence (which is required due to the amount of players who have departed), but the main problem we have had since Neil took over and for the last 18 months of BR’s tenure is further up the park.

Too many players have been inconsistent for too long: Ntcham, Rogic and Sinclair (I think we would accept offers for all three). We need to get at number 10 and other striker and let OE play out on the left. Bitton, Eboue and Morgan we can find buyers.

Wee friendly kickabouts in pre-season mean nothing, never has and never will. wee bit of research from BHOYLO83 make comment look silly

    SFTB,

I don’t have a link for the study. I tried googling for it but no joy. I think it appeared in the Glasgow Herald. It was specific to Ulster Scots btw and drew lines from their history and default demeanour to how they are today.

  11. Guy in my work is a Bolton season ticket holder ,has been since a kid .

His dad played for them but didn’t get passed the reserve team.

Anyway he said young Luca is a fantastic player and will end up captain.

  12. I spoke to him on the night shift last night .

Told him about Luca playing for us yesterday.

I said he was one paced.

He said his game is not about speed but about receiving the ball in tight spaces and passing it out to our players.

  13. Impossible to judge anyone whether it’s Boli, Luca or Julien on one game. Remember Henrik.

The friendly against Rennes was the first time the vast majority of us saw Luca kick a ball. All I know is that both Mick McCarthy & Robbie Keane were raving about him & can;t wait to debut him in a competitive International to tie him down permanently as an Irish International.

  14. I thought he played safe yesterday, didn’t want to make any mistakes.

I think he played just like someone who doesn’t know his team mates

    or our style.

I also thought our players where not quite sure of him so didn’t pass to. Him unless it

Was really safe to do so.

Still think there’s a player there.

To true, pre-season games tell us nothing at all about the season ahead. Its a fitness exercise openned up To the public for a coin or two.

Truth is every club in scotland would bite the Hard off you for our squad and money the money in the bank and we are not done yet.

  16. If KT doesn’t go then there is a chance that one of them thugs posing as a player will end his career.

He gets no protection from the refs.

    NONE of our players do.

  17. jinkyredstar on

Relax bhoys – no need to concern yourselves about the upcoming season.According the Daily Ranger a resurgent Rangers have wiped the French giants off the face of the earth with the help of a new wonder striker who is even better than last season’s wonder striker, the soon to be World Player if the Year and the most solid of solid defences made up of the old bits from last year but much much betterer! So we should just relax and enjoy the privelage of watching them clean, no stress.

  18. Wife’s no happy – she’s sitting on the dock with our guests waiting for a boat ride and the Captain just can’t pull himself away from the tennis. Uh oh, I see her coming towards the hoose again. C’mon Roger.

A fantastic finale with the Royal Boxers left gutted, along with good ole fashioned British bias in the commentary team, stiff upper lips all round.
