We can convince ourselves we have players who can fill the right back role, and this may be true for a few more weeks, but Mikael Lustig was one of the frailties that cost us against AEK last August, and we don’t even have him now.
So far the transfer window has gone well, but a team is as well as its weakest link. Failure to get a right back who can stop crosses into the box has to be avoided.
That night in Athens is all the motivation we should need.

Regards a right back,maybe if we make it be known that we do world class breakfasts it would attract world class players .
Early days, but most of us like the look of our 3mill left back. Good value it seems.

A replacement for Lustig should have been in long ago. Our recruitment is a shambles. It shows we need a Director of Football so that there is continuity when a manager leaves. Instead we are scrambling around for a right-back while playing CL qualifiers. We have three left-backs but not one right-back considered good enough.

A shambles letting Lustig go. He was poor against Athens as he wasn’t up to speed after World cup. Gamboa should have played. But we could have kept lustig for this year ans especially until we signed a RB! Just need to pay same wages as he was on for another r year

He doent rate AR so let him go.. Same with jack Aitchinson. both look ok to me and will improve. But we need decent RB and CF now
Glad that you reminded everyone of the AEK game. There were others in Europe where Lustig was culpable. That is why BR tried to replace him for the last 2 years

This is an interesting article on Andy Robertson. What is most interesting for us is what is says about recruitment at Liverpool FC. Recruitment is led by a sporting director, there’s a guy with a PhD in physics running their player database and their scouts watch potential signings in blocks of 15-20 matches to gain a full picture of a player’s ability and character. Their head scout compiled a season’s worth of reports on Andy Robertson before they signed him. We might not have Liverpool’s resources but in comparison our recruitment is amateurish.

felt sorry for Hendry playing RB. completely out of his depth. Play him in front od a decent sweeper and he might learn to play CH. Just keep it simple
We tried Hendry at right back in his first game at Killie and at Easter Road in 2018. Both were defeats and abject disasters.
