Right back challenge

913

We can convince ourselves we have players who can fill the right back role, and this may be true for a few more weeks, but Mikael Lustig was one of the frailties that cost us against AEK last August, and we don’t even have him now.

So far the transfer window has gone well, but a team is as well as its weakest link. Failure to get a right back who can stop crosses into the box has to be avoided.

That night in Athens is all the motivation we should need.

don’t know if it works that way. i think the offer would have to be accepted, terms agreed with the player then the medical. i could be wrong.

  2. !!Bada Bing!! on

Tim H- i would say they stopped due to a couple pests who should have been banned, chased a lot away, and the uber pro Lawwell tone of the articles. I think some also see it as a chance missed for this blog to be seen as a movement, to challenge the Club on certain issues. HH

  3. As soon as the latest KT rumour appeared the usual suspects did as well with their agendas and some not so hidden.

Supersutton and greenpinta ‘s postings were the only one’s to reflect the situation with true accuracy.

Too many what about me’s on here, what about young Kieran, is he no entitled tae further his career and pad his bank account like others that have left the most bigoted wee country in the world.

SOT was correct when he said this place has turned intae an echo chamber. Think I’ll join him.

Imagine the posts on here if we were to smash a small football backwater’s national transfer record for a player currently rehabbing from not just one injury but a second condition with a chronically slow recovery. Gooners fans much be a more temperate lot ;) So many guys, Brendan, Virgil and now KT serve us well financially even when they’ve gone (finance we do need). Eddy, Big Kris and mibby Karamoko will do likewise.

I predict CFC will mourn – not miss – yet continue to thrive, post the departure of any player who just may return one day to fill a long-destined club captaincy and the legacy our entire club is writing. HH

Why do former posters on CQN not post anymore? ? It is certainly not because of personal insults, as compared to years ago there are only a few minor spats nowadays.

Is there now too much choice for blogs and forums.?

    Use of Facebook.?

Use of Twitter, where the audience are supposedly more intellectual , and they can even follow the Donald. ?

They see CQN as having served it’s purpose as they have met likeminded friends for life.?

    They can’t be bothered?

They think they are superior to the current CQN clientele?

Adverts and difficulties logging on etc.?

They like typing sweary words which the moderator’ s don’t like. ?

They have gone in a huff?

They are way too busy 24/7.?

It would be interesting to find out why.?

    HH to all.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Here we go again, Arsenal have bid 25 squillion for kieran, don’t give

a fup, if Kieran wants to stay and be the soul of our club, the bhoy we

all wished we had the chance to be, the bhoy that Jinky , Paul , big Billy

Tommy, all stayed with us despite the lure of the corrupt epl.

My heart and soul tells me Kieran’s going nowhere.

    Put that in the bank.

Maybe it’s because i’m that bit older and used to our bhoys pledging

their careers to our club, but the bit about coming back and being

captain, well as far as i’m concerned, when you leave Celtic you can

    fup off.

Sorry for being blunt but it’s how i feel.

MELBMICK – I hear ye, but the game has changed so very, very much; great for those who command its riches.

Sure; be great if the Tic was able to fulfil every players dreams; on the park and off it. Our tinpot market won’t facilitate it. Don’t make sense to me to say we love the lhad, then shun him if he advances his position.

I don’t begrudge any young fella setting himself, his family – and our club – up handsomely. It’s part of his gift.

And with gratitude, I’d be willing to make exceptions to the rule. And he’s as exceptional as they come!

I welcome your blunt mate, but there’s room for empathy if the lad’s bid dilemma is real and pressing.HH

Stay dry doon the watter eh!!

Green Pinta- any one of the above ☝️,i post some nonsense on here as do others, but without being a snob, the dabate was better a couple of years ago, and chatting to the guys last night,CQN would be their preferred option, to chat all things Celtic and beyond mate,HH

Yes ditto, but we’re talking about the soul of our club, Kieran knows it, the

Green Brigade knows it, he’s the one with the megaphone leading them

on, so if he goes, and remember he’s already being paid very handsomely

whats the future? Boli Bolingoli? o.k he’ll leave once we grow to love him.

We need Kieran to stay end of, if not it’s the end of Celtic as i knew it.

  13. Greetings from Edinburgh, just back after a wonderful night at OldTim’s birthday bash. As usual he made it impossible to buy him a drink, his generosity is boundless. Also top marks to OT for being one of the last three out of the place.

As per usual great company and great craic and of course ole Big Ears was there resplendent in Green and White ribbons. The surreal and funniest moment was when OT appeared with this handful of Marseille fans who only spoke a smattering of English but left at the end of the night being au fait with a few rebel songs and phrases, which should come in handy at the Crumbledome today.

Once again thank you Davie for a wonderful night out. Here’s to the next 80 years. 😉🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

  14. BB,

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully they’ll all return when they feel ready. The blog is certainly a poorer place without them.

In the present, HH to all who contribute on this fine blog.

PS : I have heard the comment in the boozer that CQN is too old for them. This is from guys past retirement. Lol.

Really happy that you all gave aul Dave a fine day, i think people

because they don’t get an answer think ” i’m wasting my time ”

But they have to remember there are far more lurkers than posters

and people will just agree, or not, with any post and hurry on to the

    next one.

Thats my theory and i’m sticking to it.

    Feel free to disagree.

I think Djokovic chucked it at 0-3.

I expect a bit more fight this next set.

  17. Re Lewis Morgan

I had thought up till now that he was not good enough, but yesterday changed my mind now he is fully fit ,his pace is good very quick feet and the ability to go both ways. Unfortunately my thoughts on Luca Connell not so positive I thought a distinct lack of pace and unable to pass more than 10 yards accurately, not a patch on Ewan Henderson who in my opinion has a superb football brain. I genuinely hope Luca proves me wrong. Big Julliene was difficult to assess he tried two diagonals one to Morgan and one to Sinky just short with both but at least had the vision to try.HH

  18. Melbourne Mick on

    PAPAJOE55

Got to agree with you on some aspects of Luca’s play but still think there’s a

player in there, He didn’t look fit enough and your correct ,young Ewan looked

the better player, but lets see how it goes over the next few months, i think

    we’ll be pleasantly surprised.

    H.H Mick

  19. Murdoch, Auld, Murray, Lambert, to name a few, all lacked pace.

    Give the lad a chance.

  20. Melbourne Mick, I hope you are keeping well. I’m a bit like you when it comes to player loyalty but it is definitely a different game these days and money does more talking than anything else.

Part of the problem we have with KT is, like the rest of our players, he is afforded no protection by the MIB’s. He might be thinking his career will be curtailed if he stays in the SPFL.

Anyhoos, whatever his decision I wish him well.

  21. weebobbycollins on

Djokovic…no baseball cap, no bandana…my sort of fashionista…

    C’mon Roger…in the hole!…

  22. POG…….

There were posters on here ready to loan Morgan out before he’d kicked a ball.

Give the lad a chance, I say.

  23. weebobbycollins on

Philbhoy…it didn’t stop Murdoch, Auld or Lambert from winning the European Cup nor Murray from winning Wimbledon… :-)

    C’mon the wombles…in the hole!…

    POG

Like any player or any person i wish you well, but when you set yourself up

as the soul of our club ? then you better deliver, am i being too harsh?

Ask Lenny, ask the bhoys who spend their last penny following the bhoys

    hail ,rain, or huns.

    Just my opinion.

    H.H Mick

  25. weebobbycollins on

Lewis Morgan will be a star…

    So will Luca Connell…

    In the hole!…

  26. WEEBOBBYCOLLINS

That proves my point , that a quicker brain can be more important than quick legs in a footballer!!

    And Pog.

Kieran has never had half the abuse and violence wee Jinky

had, and he still came back for more.

Your absolutely correct. I read and look forward to your posts, but rarely comment.

I’m certainly not ignoring posters if I don’t comment.

    Cheers and HH.

PS : My daughter and partner seem to affiliate with Celtic more in Auckland than they did in Glasgow or Ireland.

  29. PHILBHOY

Agree 100 per cent re speed of thought or a football brain as I call it, don’t think you can coach it I think that’s something your born with. Any Bhoy wearing the hoops gets my full support and encouragement during the game.HH

  30. thoughts after attending yesterday’s game , Julien dosent look fit well i hope that his issue , AR not good enough , Luca tidy player but not ready for first 11 ,we have better in reserve as it is , as someone mentioned earlier wish we had someone who could take a corner/free kick oh i forgot ma ball LG our deadfall expert is the only that gets to take them when he is on the park.

LM looked eager and was our best player .
