Right back challenge

913

We can convince ourselves we have players who can fill the right back role, and this may be true for a few more weeks, but Mikael Lustig was one of the frailties that cost us against AEK last August, and we don’t even have him now.

So far the transfer window has gone well, but a team is as well as its weakest link. Failure to get a right back who can stop crosses into the box has to be avoided.

That night in Athens is all the motivation we should need.

  1. Our defence is our weakest area of the team. Selling KT will leave us short at left back.

The argument will be he made 21 league appearances last year and we can’t afford a £25 mill asset lying on the treatment table.

Some may even argue that selling direct to a top 6 EPL team will be some sort of major breakthrough.

£25 million is selling KT on the cheap. Should bolo not be any good or picks up an injury, we’ll be relying on Hayes.

If we ever buy a RB, Ralston is his back up. We’re leaving ourselves dangerously low on quality at the back.

Keep KT and sell him in two years for the same if not more money.

I fully expect us to cash in though because that’s what we do.

    God Bless the Belfast Crew,

    Neil is a Winner.

The Board are backing Neil because he really knows his stuff.

I wanted Rafa, the Big Name appointment. Bigger Money required.

Neil, as I said, is a Genius.

    Everybody is in the place….

    Celtic

  3. Another Honest 9 by Celtic. Here is hoping.

An Tearmann says lets Work hard, I totally agree.

Mikey J is gonnae rock like noone else.

  4. Arsenal make improved £25m offer to Celtic for Kieran Tierney

Arsenal have made an improved offer in the region of £25m for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, Sky Sports News understands.

  5. Unpopular opinion but i would be inclined to sell KT if it meant bringin in two good right backs another left back and a striker

  6. The game today was a pre-season exercise for both teams. Celtic looked good in the first 10 minutes but then the game lost a bit of edge.

Morgan, Henderson and Griff were the pick of our lot.

Luca was too pumped up to be effective and griff was getting annoyed with the over-long balls.

On that showing, I would not bid over £3m for any Rennes player but, of course, both teams can play a lot better.

We’ll see a more true match next Wednesday.

Dropped in to to Old Tim’s do, for an hour after the match, and saw a few old faces. Anyone hoping to buy Davie a pint were scuppers by the fact he had left money behind the bar to pay for the drinks.

One day, before he turns 90, I need to buy that man a pint.

  11. Ok. We can’t sell our 1st choice left back and we haven’t even got a 1st choice right back

    Another shambles of transfer window

We were a little worried as some said that peter lawell would not support Neil with funds received from dembelle and Rodgers ( 29m)

Looks like that is true as we are shopping in the 2-3m bargain bucket for a right back

We can’t afford to loose KT end of

25m will just feed PL ego for AGM figures while watching our club struggle against European teams on a fraction of our turnover

If Keiran leaves, it’s because he wants to. Celtic will not stand in his way. What ye moaning about? Cheer up ffs,

  14. World cup cricket today – hoping for a high scoring day – part of me unusually wants an England win – my only hesitation is what the media and fans reaction to a win would be – they are insufferable

    Off to Church

  15. If any evidence was needed that the ‘Cricket World Cup’ is not a real world cup then it would be that England the country of cricket are looking for their first WIN.

Surely this has all the prestige of the ‘golf world cup’ or indeed the ‘tennis world cup'[if there is one].

Some sports cant have it all ways.

Surely the major prestige in golf will always be the majors and the ryder cup.

And likewise cricket is all about the huge test matches and of course the Ashes series.

I will not be watching this .Another reason for the English media to force a load of made up nonsense down our throats.

And despite huge fake kudos to Scotland for being amazing and qualifying

I will not be watching the Netball world cup either .[all apologies to whatever member of the Neville is running this English team].

    Bring back the football season

  16. GER67..

Enjoyed the night got OLDTIM to his hotel.

Ye were on good form mate, the Marseille bhoys were impressed by your chanting and dancing. 😂

We’ll get a solid RB, not a great lover of the board but they know what all of want, this year they will dig deep to ensure it happens.

Get Vegas booked for the ten. 👍☘️☘️

  17. Sipsini

Those French lads were a good laugh. Glad you got Davie safely to his hotel.

Look forward to seeing you again soon. HH

  18. Good morning CQN

What a day yesterday watched the Hoops in style yesterday thanks to HEBCELT who provided me and my Bros-in-Law, The Bad Lieutenant Returns a couple of Passes, he was visiting from Oz. Oh and it’s my Bros-in-Law’s Birthday today.

Then on in to Town to celebrate OldTim’s 80th, fantastic night amongst some of CQN’s finest, too many to mention. I will mention one, the man of the match, OLDTIM, you could tell he was enjoying himself, Hoopy 80th my friend.

    Until we meet again…

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  19. Would prefer KT to stay but at £25m the decision is his.

I hope we spend the money on quality…..too late for the pre-season cup but hopefully by the time the leafue starts.

  20. Lennybhoy

Had a nosy at BT’s photos on FB this morning of OldTim’s do. Hard to pick out who the 80 year old was in those shots :)

    A belated happy birthday OldTim….
