Ronny wasting his breath

731

Ronny Deila is wasting his breath when trying to warn those who throw pyrotechnics that they damage Celtic’s reputation. That fact is already well established but is irrelevant to those for whom throwing pyrotechnics is part of their football experience.

There is a clash of culture here. ‘The Man’, whether that be Uefa or the Health & Safety Executive, forbids pyrotechnics at football, but the consequences are visited on Celtic, not those who bring the pyrotechnics. No one has been brave enough to put their name to the pyrotechnic culture and I suspect no one ever will.

The last 24 hours has been a huge success for this unclaimed culture; it managed to grab some of the little space alongside the David Bowie news on Radio 5Live this morning, and many other places, adding fuel to the fire, if you pardon the pun. Someone is glowing with an “I did that” sense of achievement, although, of course, he’d never say so openly. It will continue unless the consequences are moved away from Celtic.

  1. Speaking of trimming the squad…. A good starting point would be to punt any of the following :

    Stokes, Boeriggter, Ambrose, Cifti,

I would give consideration to loaning out GMS, try get the boys confidence back up with much needed game time.

  2. Ruggyman

I do understand the need for a holding midfielder

Under Ronny I do not see Commons as any threat to Rogic, he plays Rogic behind the striker, and plays Commons wide right, so fitting him in

On Rogic, very talented, but lacks pace ( as does Commons), and decision making needs to improve, not totally convinced he is a long term answer ?

I am not a fan of Mcgregor ( excellent ball for first goal yesterday, then continually gave ball away again ) but he can play in there and does score goals, as can Allan play that role, and also Armstrong, so may be an option to part fund the Croat ?

An abuse of the law and of police authority. The new Chief of Police Scotland took charge on January 5. Ch ch ch ch changes?

    Maybe not.

A few points if its OK ( as I understand it )

    1. The SMV didn’t set off all the flares in Istanbul .

    2. The 2 members of the SMV who did let flares off handed themselves into Celtic and were banned .

    3. There were less than a dozen SMV members in Istanbul so they must have been very quick on their feet to ‘ cause carnage ‘ all over the city.

  5. Ruggyman

Again in response to GMS, I would give him a run in the position we play James Forrest – Forrest now in last 6 months of his current deal, is he re-signing ?

I see no difference in both players, so give GMS a run of games

I think Christie once fit could then replace both ? – and he another who could play through middle

Incidentally I would also be playing Armstrong in holding position with Biton ( I know he is injured currently), again I think he could prosper in there ?

Squad is bloated though I agree, need to move some on to create space and free up funds

Boerrigter will be difficult, did I not read he has another 18 months left of a very good deal – for him

    Hail Hail

They DEFINATELY threatened an older Celtic fan that challenged them at the start of the game and the entire game thereafter

  8. Cowiebhoy

Agree on many of your points. Commons is a funny one for me.

Commons of 12 months ago, would be a leader within this relatively young team / squad.

Ronny refused to play Commons in Ronny’s early days, when Commons was on top of his game.

Ironically now, Commons is some distance away from being a must in the starting 11. Yet Ronny is oddly sticking by him. Almost too loyal to him, for some peculiar reason.

Of our attacking midfielders all hoping to be the number 10 behind Griffiths, you have Rogic, Allan and Armstrong as the real long term contenders. Rogic and Armstrong haven’t made the position their own as yet, and Allan hasn’t had sufficient opportunities.

But yes, McGregor is a squad player. Back up out on the left or right hand side. Forrest and GMS are our only 2 natural wingers, and both fail to impress with any consistency.

There is a huge or is it massive hole in the police budget

Will this drive the end of their Football fans harassment ?

And why is it only football fans are picked on – could they be challenged on this ?

Incidentally for clarity I am Not defending anything which took place inside the stadium yesterday

Ps- I’ve not had any response from my SNP MSP, maybe has my name and address, as I chased them from my door when canvassing for support pre election

  11. On the subject of Forrest… Is he out of the starting 11, because of his contract situation, and invisible agent ??

I’ve noticed him benched the last few games, where a fully fit and confident Forrest would of been a better option out wide than Commons or McGregor

  13. Cowiebhoy

Armstrong has the physique and stamina to play the holding role.

He dont have the heart tho, he is devoid of guts…………thats why he is wide left. Until he develops some bite to his game he will be useless for us in there

  14. Cektic40me like many I was saddened to hear of the death of Bowie. He was a true music legend. Will be sadly missed.

However I don’t think equating my view that Celtic are dead with this event is apt in any way.

I’m afraid that Huns have infiltrated the Celtic boardroom while they were asking us to look elsewhere. The Celtic board are now the single biggest threat to any continued existence of Celtic. They have effectively destroyed us from within. This continual playing to a racism media just confirms things given their open willingness to embrace corruption.

    It’s game over.

  15. cowiebhoy

PfAyr better qualified to answer that question, but for what it is worth, it all comes from the 1981 Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 1981. Legislation which derived from a riot at a Scottish Cup Final, and which is specifically targeted at football supporters. Discriminatory? All day long!

  17. Consistency of selection is key.

3 put of the back 4 have made their positions their own… Lustig, Jozo, Tierney

And up front we have Griffiths.

However the engine room, which many say is the decisive area of a team. Win the midfield, win the game.

I’m not sure any of our midfielders have made a position their own.

Question: do this SMV crowd wear a ‘uniform’?

Me and my bhoy walked up to the Thistle game via the Gallowgate and passed a crowd, young team, all dressed in black and sporting black North Face jackets but no Celtic colours. We both remarked at the same time that we thought that they looked like trouble. (That was just after I thought about which one of them I was going to boot in the baws first if they started anything as we passed them. I’m a tad protective towards my offspring.)

  22. clunks

    Agree with you re Armstrong.

When he came off injured in his last game I thought he was hiding before it and looked as though he couldn’t wait to get off. I think he likes it out on the wing where it’s easier to see a tackle coming.

  23. Baw’s burst Bhoys, Goose cooked. Not a word about any cheating,Ebt, Sfa and week in week out get the crap kicked out us and then quick to react today.

Board sold us all out. For ages the doom sayers on here been hunted and slagged you know what they were right. At the heart of every decision is money and it wins every time. The club we love is ruined by these guys on the board so please to romanticising it and dress it up as anything else but that.

The guys who throw flares know what harm they are causing and to that point they are no longer fans of our club but self agenda driven fools.

Two Really crappy things today this and David Bowie dying. I am away to bed and hopefully this is all a bad dream Bowie is fine and our board stands up for us for a change rather than taking the easy way out al the time.

    Regarding fighting inside ground ,

  28. Sad state of affairs when a few mindless clowns manage to drag the good name of the support into the gutter. What concerns me most is the actions are immature and pointless and have achieved nothing other than shaming the club and support. Boot up the arse would have cured it in the past and we would have had but not required a queue of people in the past who would have been more than willing a and able to administer it but do not want the repercussions I.e. crowd of youngsters squaring up and others not willing to get involved. This is not a criticism of the people not getting involved but sadly a sign of the times. I hope that some of the people who defend the clowns have e wee think and have a word in a few ears and put a foot up a few arsed. You may well ask why don’t you do it yourself? To old and to piste off by it all.

If PL had cleared out Doncaster and Regan with his new found influence then yep I’d agree with you. He didn’t and since then we get Doncaster’s ‘same club’ Interview, 250k non disclosure fine still unpaid and Dave King ‘fit and proper’.
