Ronny’s Aberdeen-Salzburg dilemma

1430

Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players.  He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.

Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev.  Ronny has some serious decisions to make.

Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity?  New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.

Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind.  On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.

My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.

Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well?  The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:

Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?

Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com  Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.

You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.

Thanks for helping.

Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

I suppose I should tell you it was Calton Tongues who told me NOT to turn up the last time.

  5. I’m a Yes but don’t have a vote.

I’ll return to Scotland when i retire and hope we have the desire/ belief in ourselves to do it. A no vote is a green light to the right wing UKIP Tory alliance which takes my Scotland out of Europe and wrecks the NHS

If you cast your mind back to the start of the indy thing on here, before things got heated, you were the first to throw insults out, poor wee BB05 got the worst of your tongue, much of it deserved if I may say so, he really didn’t do his side any favours, but you did go overboard with your condesending remarks imo, but you wouldn’t be you had you not.

I think things have gotten to you far more than they have to me ernie.

You are the one who has been calling the Yes camp, thick, ignorant, deluded, idiots, idiotic etc, etc.

And yet you have failed to back up a single thing you have spouted, your copy and paste skills need honing ernie, or better helpers wouldn’t go amiss either.

Genuinely sorry if you felt patronised but others are also pointing out to you that your opinion of how Sturgeon and Hardie performed tonight seemed to be so wide of the mark that it was difficult to believe that you were watching the same programme as the rest of us.

I have tried not to express strong opinions on here about the Referendum. I was one of the people who railed against the likes of Billy Bhoy on here 5 or 6 months ago when he came on here and tried to browbeat everyone into voting YES. Rarely, if ever, during that period did he post anything about Celtic. It got to the point that I posted NO! NO! NO! Whenever a referendum post was made. I ended up posting all my concerns and asking for answers from the YES campaigners on here. I didn’t really get any to be honest. I then said that I would wait until nearer the Referendum and do my own research and vote accordingly.

Over the past few weeks I have paid very close attention to what was being said by both sides of the debate. People can criticise Salmond and Sturgeon all they like ( personally I can’t stand Salmond) but I am not blinded to the fact that he is superb at what he does. He has run rings round all his opponents up here and many from down south. Sturgeon is a great lieutenant. She is very capable and knowledgeable. I have always voted Labour in every election since I was 18. To say that I am disappointed that Scottish Labour did not have a representative on that panel tonight is shocking as far as I am concerned. Why did they not present their case to Labour supporters and advise us why we should vote NO to independence?

I have now come to a decision based on my own research and I will vote YES next Thursday.

PFayr, fair enough but do you think calling one of the panel a harridan when the tory you support is of the same ilk provides a balanced view?

    I don’t.

If I’d came on the blog and berated Ruth Davidson for a crap performance tonight and finished off by a comment about her being a dyke, I’d expect to be berated for it.

BTW, I care not a jot for her sexuality, just that she’s a tory.

I was in a meeting all week with very senior people for the company I work form all were askance at the prospect of Scotland. Leaving. Not one of them could figure out why that would. Happen and what the point would be.
