Last night my brother reminded me of a comment he made after the 0-0 against Benfica on match day one of the Champions League, “I hope we’re not sitting with one point after five games”. Expectations can be as high as you like, but reality based on experience at that stage suggested Celtic would struggle to have more than a single point at this stage of the tournament.
A solitary point away from home in our Champions League history would lead the harsh realists to expect our trips to Lisbon, Barcelona and Moscow would be fruitless, leaving the enormous matter of tackling Barcelona at Celtic Park.
Two of those away games resulted in defeat, and we were behind in Moscow before one of the most significant fight-backs in modern Celtic history. It’s difficult to find perspective for the win over Barcelona. Suffice to say, they won 0-2 in Lisbon and 0-3 in Moscow. Celtic’s 2-1 remains the most astonishing result of this season’s Champions League.
Manchester City’s failure to qualify for the knock out stage, with their seemingly limitless budget, tells the story of how difficult this tournament is. England’s other mega-wealthy club, reigning European champions Chelsea, sacked their manager this week as the expectation they are likely to be eliminated at this stage dawned.
Beating Spartak and qualifying for the knockout stage will be suitable reward for a remarkable team.

Seems fair enough to me. They have taken a stance to boycott the game. They don’t expect anybody else to adopt the same action but if you feel that they’re justified in making the protest then stand up and show your support.

It’s all very well saying that if you obey the laws of the ground you will be fine. Except the police are being selective about where they enforce those laws, and I think that’s the point that’s being made.

Not to me it doen`t. The Green Brigade are being treated outrageously badly by the police. Why? If you go to the games, you will know that, as a group, they are excellent and deserve praise rather than the ridiciclous response of Strathclyde Police.
If nothing else, there absence will alert all other supporters at the game as to how the police are behaving towards them.
Finally, where do you get the idea that the GB ” expect” any other fans (apart from those in 111) to do anything in support of their protest? That word alone shows you in a bad lightIMO.

If we beat Spartak Moscow we have got to hope the results go our way at the Nou Camp. Gotta try and stay in the big cup. Not because the Europa League at last sixteen stage is a lesser tournament, but because there will be hope that history can be made. Getting this close has taken a toll, getting through will mean that everybody’s efforts are rewarded. Without sounding too much like Kojo, you gotta dream. Final at Wembley, 25th May, 150th Anniversary of the FA, and 125th anniversary of Celtic FC. Until that particular dream is no longer possible, you gotta hope!

Celtic need to be in the CL, the EL is good but it is not good enough and once the players get a feel of CL knock-out stage they will want it more and more, as will the fans. Celtic are better than the Spurs and Newcastles of this world and need to ply their trade at the top table, Celtic are on a road now and once we qualify for the last 16 we will no longer be a young team we will be an experienced team. If we can beat Barca at Celtic Parc and come very close to drawing with them in the Camp Nou then anything is possible. No longer the young team no longer the also rans, Celtic have grown up.

Being one who likes to see things for myself, I had a wee look in on the Green Brigade on a wee visit home recently.
The harassment they were enduring would make “1984” pale into insignificance. The provocation was shocking. I’ll go out on a limb and declare my profession, I’m a psychotherapist. My professional opinion of those involved in the filming and recording of data, would be one of barely supressed glee and derision.
How is that observance of the law looking now.
In addition, I STILL want to know why the Club have not supported the GB publicly. Even Neil Frances has walked over to them at games with applause.
