STEFAN SCEPOVIC and Anthony Stokes were on target as a Celtic Select beat Morton 3-1 at Cappielow last night.
The Serb, who is interesting La Liga outfit Las Palmas, as CQN Magazine revealed yesterday, was on target in the 15th minute in the Testimonial Game for the Greenock side’s long-serving kitman Andy Bryan.
Over 1,000 fans saw Scepovic meet a right-wing cross from Aidan Nesbitt to score with a superb header. However, that was nullified as Jim Duffy’s outfit fought back and Tom Orr levelled four minutes later when he calmly shot past the helpless Leo Fasan.
The Italian keeper then produced a fine save to push away a stinging effort from Joe McKee at his near post.
However, Steve Frail’s side took the lead again just before the interval when Morton No 1 Derek Gaston flapped at a Nesbitt cross and the ball fell to Luke Donnelly to fire home.
Celtic came out for the second-half fired up and added to their lead almost immediately after the restart through Stokes.
The frontman picked up the ball on the halfway mark and strode forward into Morton territory on the left flank. He then swerved inside, leaving a defender in his wake, before coolly side-footing past Gaston.
Nesbitt and Stokes both went close to adding to the lead before the Republic of Ireland international was subbed after the hour mark.
