With John Guidetti ineligible, Anthony Stokes is manager Ronny Deila’s first choice striker for Europa League action. Anthony arrived at Glasgow Airport this morning but was sent home ill. He was a certain starter, so whatever plans the manager made, a rethink is in order.
Stefan Scepovic made his goal-scoring breakthrough against Astra last month, and followed up with a goal next time out against Kilmarnock, but he was benched for Partick and Inverness Thistle. Despite being third on the roster he’s likely to be the solitary striker role tomorrow evening.
This is a big game in Stefan’s Celtic career. A European ground with an 8500 capacity presents a different pressure, and expectation, than Celtic Park. Can he rise to the challenge? Wakaso stepped forward in Salzburg and Callum McGregor did the same in Reykjavik, Warsaw and Maribor. Both benefited enormously as a result. I could make a case that Stefan needs this game; the script’s written……
Many thanks to everyone who bought the DVDs from CQNBookstore since yesterday, that’s’ the deal finished. Will try to pull another together at some point.

TOSB, is there a serious plan for us to play Racing Club?
……………………..
I don’T know to be honest. I’ve only read about from posters on here.
There’s a lot more important things happening in the world but I’m away to watch some tv
jamesgang,
I must, I must stop buying mushrooms from the same shop as you :)
I went for 1pm too.
Gives me time to spend some of a Sunday with the family, Sunday dinner:-)
It won’t suit everyone, I’m sure others will have good reason for 3pm.
tosb
They’ve not sent one to me. Aggravated to say the least. :-)

TOSB, ta.
I hope it’s not something we are considering!
If we want a 50th celebration come 2017, then invite Inter to a game in Lisbon.
That would be a celebration.
If ALASTAIR NICOLSON is known to any of you would you please pass on my sincere thanks for the latest donation to the ole Movember campaign.
Alastair – email me at jobobaldie@yahoo.co.uk and reveal yourself, man!

The ideal 50th anniversary would be Celtic reaching the 2017 CL final, then winning it.
Weefra,
Yep, they’re magic :))
Goodnight troops.

DD, the stuff of dreams.

Dreams can come true!
Racing Club
Well, some of you will know I was the youngest fan in Buenos Aries and then Montevideo.
Part of the reason I am the Celtic fan I am is because I had my 6th birthday party in the City Hotel Buenos Aries when 240 Celtic fans ( including my mum and dad ) threw a great big party with a great big cake.
I remember Argentina as magic for a number of reasons which I won’t go into here
( gotta keep some good stories for the pub or CQN11 or a book or somewhere ) – but i also remember it as really hostile and entering the stadium for the 2nd leg was as scary as it gets at a football match.
Their fans were mental, angry, spitting, shouting, waving fists and so on and the Argentinian Police/Army stood there facing the crowd with machine guns drawn and looking even meaner than the crowd.
The locals sat on our seats and wouldn’t move. As you entered you were spat on and treated disgracefully. As an advert for Argentina and Argentinian tourism it was a disgrace.
Years later I came to understand that some of the crowd – maybe all of them – figured we were English and after the events of the 1966 World Cup were seething for revenge.
Any which way it was scary.
I recently met Billy McNeill at Celtic Park and he made it very plain that I was not the only one who was scared. He said that he was very scared.
So – what do I think about playing Racing again?
I say YES.
Let’s have a football match. Their team against mine – the way it was meant to be.
11 v 11 on a football pitch, playing within the rules and in a sporting spirit – tough but fair.
I would want the people of Argentina to see we are a football club – a great football club – where playing football in the proper way is what comes first, second and third — and that we will play anyone in a spirit of friendship and respect and that we are big enough, strong enough, respectful enough of ourselves and our one time foes to move on and put bad days- rubbish days and events – behind us.
That is the message from Celtic to those near and far, to foes and opponents old and new.
Play us at football — and leave the old baggage behind.
Sadiesbhoy
Aye but never received email.. 8))

Thanks. Yes, I’m doing really well at the moment. Enjoying retirement. I think the trick is to balance your time between family and something else ……. let’s say ……….. Celtic :-))
I always look out for your posts too, mate. Enjoy your banter with ACGR and the tribulations you have with your Hun workmates :-))
If you’re speaking to your younger sis, yell her I was asking for her.

if we played racing again, who is going to knit the scarfs ?
Bada Bing, and fans would turn up in their thousands.
I have no idea what Racing Club and their followers are like now.
My first that was, no.
But, put it this way, if we were to face them, I’d go.
I’d rather face Inter though.
I’d go to Lisbon for that.

Ha — that is a great story. One of many from that trip and in truth another thing that just amazed a 5/6 year old about Celtic fans and their spouses.
I loved the story last night of the person lying in the field in France in the middle of nowhere when he suddenly heard someone singing ” Hail Hail The Celts are here” and found a solo drunk guy attempting to walk to Milan.
That is just brilliant.

You poor deluded person you. You were a mere 6 years old. Primary Two? You were far too young to understand the hatred, the thuggery, the consequences. You were six, i was 16. Take from one who knows about these things: we must never, ever, ever, I say, pkay these cheating sons of female dugs, ever, again.

My preference would be Glasgow Celtic F.C. .v. F.C. Internazionale Milano!
Been in Milan twice and disappointed that nearly 50 years later we have never drawn them in any UEFA Competion.
Would be on a ‘to-do’ list sandwiched into a 7 day rendezvous with travelling Tims (including OT, ACGR & TET).

I’m having a bit of a blowout myself. Enjoy yourself and take care. Yes, G is rightly proud of the girls. They’re doing very well at the piano.
