Script written for Scepovic

886

With John Guidetti ineligible, Anthony Stokes is manager Ronny Deila’s first choice striker for Europa League action.  Anthony arrived at Glasgow Airport this morning but was sent home ill.  He was a certain starter, so whatever plans the manager made, a rethink is in order.

Stefan Scepovic made his goal-scoring breakthrough against Astra last month, and followed up with a goal next time out against Kilmarnock, but he was benched for Partick and Inverness Thistle.  Despite being third on the roster he’s likely to be the solitary striker role tomorrow evening.

This is a big game in Stefan’s Celtic career.  A European ground with an 8500 capacity presents a different pressure, and expectation, than Celtic Park.  Can he rise to the challenge?  Wakaso stepped forward in Salzburg and Callum McGregor did the same in Reykjavik, Warsaw and Maribor.  Both benefited enormously as a result.  I could make a case that Stefan needs this game; the script’s written……

Many thanks to everyone who bought the DVDs from CQNBookstore since yesterday, that’s’ the deal finished.  Will try to pull another together at some point.

Thanks for posting that. My 2nd favourite World Cup victory was by Italy four years later. Please don’t tell me that was tainted too. :)

I’m not keen on Mourinho but loved the way he walked off when asked a question that was irrelevant to his night’s work tonight.

Maybe Celtic management and players could learn from watching him in front of a camera for each time a hun loaded question comes up.

Alternatively they could just hand over an A4 sheet with WC’s statement on it and say read that ya succulent lamb eating fud.

I spotted that transfer to DD, I was right beside you, ya rascal. Am I on the next appointed list to this speciality club??? Hahahahah Wit is this Tattoo everyone is all aboot, and I’ve agreed to support it? BTW I don’t imbibe your favourite, but enjoy the very occasional sip. :-))

  8. Re Argentina 78,

the first world cup i really remember watching (a innocent wee 7 year old) and IIRC that Argentina needed to win by 4 clear goals against Peru.

6 going on 10. Complete and utter carve up.

To be fair they were a good team Argentina, but still it stank then and it stinks now.

I also remember the game where Brazil had a corner and scored from a header, but the ref (was it an English ref? I seem to recall that…..Google where are ye?) blew for full time whilst the ball was in the air!

Chaotic scenes but no goal was given.

Other vivid memories are the Ruud Krol and Ari Haan 35/40 yarders and of course the ticket-tape final. Rene Van Der Kerkhof’s stookie in the final. The Poles had a good team then, Kazmirez (sp) Deyna – a top trumps fav of mine – was a class act.

Needless to say wee Archie;s goal was something else, until Neeskens (or was it rensenbrink) hit that 25 yarder and we were out. Strangely to most people, I remember being happier about Kenny’s goal in that game v the Dutch than wee archie’s. That because back then especially KK was my footballing hero (not to mention the reason I am a Celtic supporter!). he still remains my footballing hero, although the managerial stint did taint his halo somewhat, but not too much.

Funny how certain memories stick with ye most of your life, but others dont last 2 weeks!

Weefra, the contents of the transfer to DD was from my last bottling. 12 Y.O. single cask, cask strength Linkwood, Oloroso finish. Far too bloody good to be wasted in a toddy. But seeing as he’s ful o thi man flu I can forgive him.

I’ll bring you a wee taster at you favourite street corner, you’re more than welcome my friend.

Jamesgang’s tattoo jibe was quite funny as the Paisley bhoy is oblivious to the fact that I do indeed have a very very special tattoo.

DD, we get double yolk eggs often from the wee farm shop down the road. I think it’s something to do with young hens, but I’m sure weefra will know why and when they occur. We’ve had a coupe of triple’s but they are few and far between.

    Couple of things:

First, maybe some reference to the club being incorporated and therefore inseparable from the “company” (to dispel the “holding company” myth.

Also, is the word unbroken appropriate in this context? Rangers 1872 and Rangers 2012 both have unbroken histories – they are just two different histories! Maybe say Celtic’s 127 year history?

    Just my thoughts though…..

  16. The hun version of events is that the business,ie,the club, the assets, the history, were bought out of administration,by Charley. It was only the company that was liquidated.Thats why they keep going on about exiting administration.

We all know the true story, but I am afraid you will never get the hun to accept it.It is an alien concept to them. They were the “People”.It was not possible for this to happen. They are in their bunkers with fingers in their ears.

I fully support and will contribute to the ad,but it should be aimed at everyone else but them. They will never accept the truth,no matter who says it.

A wonderful idea though. The truth should be out there in print. Not just the spoken word.

  17. Racing Club,

I was at the game at Hampden……a real dirty shower….especially at corner kicks coming into the goalmouth….either end. Highlight was Bertie falling backwards down at the corner flag and head butting one of the swine as he fell. You would have thought he had died. Brilliant move on Bertie’s part.

The Argies can dish it out but can’t take it. Hard to believe that Messi is Argie…..but of course he has been with Barca since birth.

Not all former Rangers fans are like that. I know two who will never support the new entity and know their team died. They are both well educated though, and have never been huns in their life.

  19. DD/lymmbhoy,

thanks for clarifying re Clive Thomas.

Not sure but would the extra point have made the difference to Brazil qualifying ahead of Argentina or not?

Unreal…..but had a wee laugh at Sweden’s marking at the goal. No one on the back post, a guy on the front with the keeper on his own whilst a brazilian stood unmarked centre of goal 6 yards out. Mad!

Still it worked out for the Swedes anyway :-)

DD, funnily enough it was the Dutch team and the Poles to a lesser extent that caught my imagination rather than the Argies.

    Great memories though.

I have always supported Poland due to my Grandfather from Gdansk. The ’74 team could have won the WC in West Germany that year.

  21. DD,

a wee bit before my time the 74 WC (i was but a skelf of a 3 year old then) but heard and read plenty of it and the Poles (Gregorz Lato? esp) seemed to be a very good outfit.

Madrid 74 plenty of Celts at that game me included

stayed at a big hotel centre of Madrid and the front

was covered in Celtic Banners from every window

cops came to take them down until they saw how

many Ghuy’s were standing outside drinking beer.

Went on the Provanmill Inn bus and what a bunch

of head cases one guy’s nickname was the singing

winger apparently he sang or hummed all during any

game he played and totally confused opposing full

    backs,

Your uncle was right they were a right nasty bunch

and during the game on my way to the bog one of them

handed me one of those leather bag thingys you hold

above your head and drink the stream of wine obviously

expecting it to run down my top so they could pash

themselves, but no, not a drop wasted until one of them

smacked me on the side of the head and disappeared

into the crowd, but hey ho the wine was lovely

    hahaha thanks for that,

Whilst was there i remember watching the send-off for Ally and the team on their open bus tour round Hampden before the WC. he did actually make a lot of people, including this 7 year old, believe we could win the WC!

Absolutely mental when you think about it.

The close up of Ally after Cubillas scored his 2nd and Peru’s 3rd was amazing in that if ever there was a picture of tortured manager, with his dreams tattered, torn and stomped on, that was it!
