In Edinburgh vernacular:
Choose to deny the League money.
Choose to keep fans out of the game despite an acre of empty stand.
Choose to allow clubs to harm the game without commercial consequence.
Choose to embarrass a national showpiece.

  1. Evening all

A slightly dissenting voice when it comes to Chris Sutton.

The Tina Turner remark was laugh out loud funny but Currie posed the most interesting question of the day when he asked if Rangers would even have the moolah to punt Pedro and Sutty- possibly enjoying himself too much- just went on about how Caixinha should go. C’mon Chris listen to the question and go for the bigger issue. Or is making McCoist and McCall squirm just too much fun?

  2. Back To Basics,

Have to agree with you regarding the Bowman challenge,

it was a shocker and there is bedlam on here when our players receive

a similiar tackle,he was lucky to be on the park at the time.

Only bit of football in the entire game was the 2nd goal,

we will win by as many as we want in the final

  3. JIMBO67 i want caixinha to stay. as mr bush said 4 more years. i want them dirty stinkin barstewards relegated but alas because of the demographic in bonny scoddland 1 million catholics and 4 million anti catholics. that wont happen anytime soon. but remember faith of our fathers holy faith they cant ever take that away from us i for one wont feckin let them hail hail.

  4. On the subject of passing the ball at the back, and backwards, there are two points to consider.

60 games unbeaten domestically. There’s a reason for that.

Teams have traditionally packed 10 men behind the ball all in their own half. By playing around at the back and inviting the opposition to try and close us down, it gives us that bit of space that we can use to break them down.

Don’t try and fix what ain’t broken.

  5. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

WITS – fair point. Didn’t see it but heard he was lucky.

Gordy / JMcC – like you I think we will win the final. However i worry for players well being in Scottish football.

Our officials’ Situation Management skills are deplorable. Compare with European refs.

Many of our refs appear to be either sufferers of wee man syndrome or ex-junior level rotten players. In either case they seem quite content to see good players taking the occasional whack.

    Hail hail

  6. On the subject of Craig Gordon’s kicking, he has improved out of sight.

De Vries was brought in by Brendan as a keeper who was good with the ball at his feet. His last outing demonstrated that he was poorer than Craig.

  7. It was obvious yesterday that we played along our own box to draw Hibs down the park.

That allowed space for us to feed McGregor and Armastrong in the space behind. Not daft we are, Yoda speak like do I.

“Don’t try and fix what ain’t broken.”

If you really believe that, why didn`t you say ,” leave well alone.: ?

    :-)

    Cheerio for now,

    JJ

  9. Seeing Dembele facing up Bruno Alves is an enticing prospect. Today is the first time I’ve seen Alves play for the Huns; he is a liability waiting to be exposed.

Is that you daring to suggest that Mr Rodgers knows something about football? How very dare you!

Seriously cannot say much wrong with the tactics in recent games just that some of the players themselves are a bit shy of form.

The respected Celtic historian and author Tom Campbell is currently working with Joe McBride’s family and CQN will publish Joe’s biography in 2018.

    ……………………..

Thanks for letting me know. Two of Joe’s grandchildren were pupils at my school. About 15 years ago, Joe phoned the school to say he had the European Cup at home and that he and Ronnie Simpson were taking it to Orkney that night and did I want him to bring it to the school. What an opportunity! I accompanied him round the school with it visiting all the classes. In both Primary 1 classes, I asked,” Do you know who our visitor is?” I didn’t think 5 year olds would know as Joe was way before their time as a player. A sea of hands went up and I asked a wee girl. “That’s Joe McBride of Celtic!” Just about every pupil in the school knew Joe. What a great afternoon I had. I told him he had been my hero and he was my favourite player at Motherwell. He said that he loved his time at Motherwell and the club had been very good to him. It was also good to chat about some of the games he played in with the Hoops and listen to him talk about some of his opinions on those games. It was a real privilege for me to be in the company off my childhood hero but also an absolutely modest gentleman.

  12. gonna get shot down in flames here. but last couple of games reminded me of a mr deila. across the park and back to the goalie.

  13. prestonpans bhoys on

    Stringer,

Yip first time I’ve seen him too, was very surprised at how poor he was, his decision making was appalling

  14. BIG PACKY

    You know nothing about football!

You know nothing about a footballers life!

You know nothing of the physical demands on our (Celtic) players.

    Think about it.

  15. TOSB

    Lovely story!

Joe McBride will ,in my mind, always be a Lisbon Lion and a Celtic Legend.

I cried when he passed away.

Moussa and Leigh couldn’t lace his boots……..and I love them both!

Your Celtic life is indeed blessed.

    Take care!

  16. Interesting that hours after the final whistle, the Scotsman site still doesn’t have a proper report on today’s glamour semi-final, and seems to have stopped comments. Wonder why?

  17. As I said earlier, delighted we will not be playing Soft Loans Co. in Final. However, Motherwell players’ assaults on the Huns are a concern if they attempt the same on us. Especially as we will be playing them three times in quick succession close to important CL games.

There will be no protection from MIBs.

  18. BIG PACKY

I am not shouting or even berating you.

Merely commenting on a crass post.

I am allowed to do that am I not?

You should not react like that when you invite yourself to be shot down in flames and then get shot down in flames.

    Geddit?

  19. INVINCIBLE 'GG on

    Big Packy

I hope you have a good parachute.

“Hooky McBride” best striker I’ve seen bar none.

Not even a certain Mr Larsson.

  20. JIMBO67

Aye, he might be a bit of a coach indeed. Share some concerns about the very physical approach of the Family Club.

Nothing we can’t handle over 90 minutes, 3 games in quick succession will make it very interesting against a club with a small squad.

I am sure the MIB’s will look after both sides with equanimity.

  21. BIG PACKY

    Post away big man!

    No harm meant.

    I just love the Celtic!

I’ll buy you a pint on 11/11 and shake your hand too.

Might give you a hug as well!

  22. INVINCIBLE ‘GG you probably my age joe mc bride and willie wallace only mr larsson comes near.

  23. Jobo,

I think that’s one for Private Eye’s “Comentatorballs” formerly “Colemanballs”

On another subject, the first time I saw the great Joe McBride was at Hampden and I think he got two against us in the 65 cup semi. He more than made up for that for me!

  24. If sevco want rid of pedro and the overpaid players….could a pre-pack administration be arranged for the January transfer window?

The caravan rolls on….only the barking dogs left.
