Seeking game time in Qatar

551

Marco Tilio made a late substitute appearance in Australia’s final Asian Cup warm-up game against Bharain on Saturday.  The player is clearly valued higher in his home country than around Lennoxtown.  With little prospect of a promotion to the Celtic starting line-up ahead, any chance the player has to shine would be useful for him and the club.

Oh Hyeon-gyu played the first half of Korea’s game against Iraq on the same day.  There is little chance of Oh moving on this month but, like Marco, he is a player who would benefit from gametime in Qatar.

Japan’s opener against Vietnam on Sunday will attract most attention from Celtic fans.  Reo Hatate should be close to full fitness, although I doubt he will start the game.  Daizen Maeda led the line for Japan at the World Cup, when they expected to play a counter-attacking game.  Tactics will be different against Vietnam than they were against Spain, so Daizen may not play the same role.

Again, you and I will lie in our beds at night pondering why one of the greatest Celtic players of this century is on a beach somewhere right now.

The Sun report Celtic have received a work permit for Nicolas Kuhn.  This detail is usually completed after paperwork is signed.  Hopefully we’re a ‘Ross Hall moment’ away from getting this one over the line.

I am basing my lower crowd prediction on two prominent Edinburgh Celtic supporters clubs who are merging into one bus for the trip, the first time this has happened for a home game. It’s all about the Sunday evening kick-off, the prevailing inclement weather, weakness of the opposition and live TV.

I completely understand your frustration. However, ST holders must be offered their seats first, either through HCTS direct debit or by purchasing online. The club are unable to open a general public sale until after the ST deadline as they need to know which ST seats are unsold and can therefore be included in the general sale. So it is not possible to prioritise a general sale prior to the ST sale.

Try phoning the ticket office this week and explain your predicament. You might be lucky.

  2. LET’s ALL…….

“surely you should have just bought 5 tickets anyway knowing it will be half empty (or maybe half full 😋), then you could just have moved beside each other when yous seen all the empty seats?

    easy problem to sort out.

and not an excuse not to buy any tickets”

Oh yeah, tried to suggest that to Mrs S…….. got short shrift……As soon as the tie was announced the feeling was that 20,000 would be a good turn out. At £15, £10 and£5 per ticket then maybe 30,000. Just put the tickets on sale and keep the customer happy. There’s a novel idea.

We missed more cup ties before we were on the HCTS as we didn’t take tickets if our season book seats had been sold to someone else.

Thanks for your reply and I totally get that ST holders get first dibs on tickets for the glamour ties…but Buckie Thistle? I know the HCTS is involved this time but surely there’s a way to credit ST holders without disadvantaging non ST holders.

On the site right now there are no two seats together anywhere in the stadium, but like ALL LETS DO THE HUDDLE says I’ll probably just turn up with my grandson and plonk ourselves down in peaceful contentment.

    P.S. So glad you’re back

Buckie Thistle have asked for and have been allocated around five thousand tickets. I think that might be a wee bit optimistic given the switch to a late Sunday afternoon kick off and the potential weather up North. Could be wrong but I think 116 will become available in the next day or so.

    Keep the Faith

to be honest i wouldnt have had a problem whatever way they done it even if it meant i wasnt sitting in my usual seat, though that couldnt have happened because of the hcts etc

anyway, i want to see as many fans there as possible

will still be surprised if its over 30k

but i dont blame anyone for not going at that kick off time, easy for me because im 15 minutes away but a nitemare for others.

though at least the ticket prices are good to help the crowd

  7. Prestonpans bhoys on

There’s only about 25,000 on the ticket scheme , take in corporate and 5,000 Buckie fans, there shouldn’t be a problem getting a ticket. Get a block booking maybe another problem.

Didn’t click the link but clubhouse leader is Celtic Bhoys who go with “key Celtic player could leave after Kuhn signing”.

  11. EARLY WARNINGS Post Office/Horizon…

there are inevitably key moments when events could have been stopped in their tracks. Yet few early warnings could have been as prescient as a seven-page memo handed to a Post Office official 25 years ago.

During a fractious meeting at Newcastle rugby club in 1999, the note set out a litany of concerns from subpostmasters in the north-east of England who had been piloting the now infamous Horizon accounting system. The issues, including with balancing their accounts, were causing stress and forcing some to work well into the night.

Soon after those concerns were raised, subpostmasters gathered again to discuss the potential severity of the problems. “The difficulties and trauma being experienced by some subpostmasters were giving rise to concerns for their health and emotional wellbeing,” the meeting was told.

“It was felt by some that a tragedy was not far away if something was not altered soon. The software was considered to be poor quality and not intended to run such a huge network.”

The warning of a potential tragedy was made before the flawed software – subsequently found to be capable of producing erroneous losses that had been blamed on post office staff – had been rolled out across the Post Office network.

Yet from the moment of the fateful decision to press ahead, a ruinous cocktail of legal reforms, geopolitics, a crippling lack of political curiosity and – above all – apparent deceit ultimately led to thousands of innocent workers being victimised and prosecuted, with devastating effects.

    ………..

So many decent honest folk wronged.

  12. Welcome back ST STIVS and TOM Mc

I think you have my e mail via your amazing Donkey Sanctuary work.

Message me on that and I can provide 2 tickets foc for Sunday in North Stand Lower if it helps.

We get back on Friday from some travels and I think I am the only one of my wee group who can go on Sunday so we have 2 spare I believe.

  14. Neil Doncaster brokers Rangers Sky TV extras deal as SPFL chief helps club unlock cash in major armchair fans boost

The Ibrox club agreed the move with the broadcaster but the league governing body played a major role

  15. Huge local Derby tomorrow.

Oman (aka the Gulf Samba) vs Saudi Arabia

My pals from Muscat are well up for a game against their bigger and better funded local rivals. With everything going on in their other border neighbours this is not quite as big a wow as it looked like being when the draw was made.

Oman have a good young team and it would not be a total shock if they did get something from the game.

It will be interesting for me, on a quick stealth mission, into a unique environment.

  16. Big Jimmy

Hope you are recovering well. It sounds like a rubbish time of it that you have had recently.

I take your point about Neil Doncaster and this arrangement. I honestly don’t think he is any friend of rangers. Quite the opposite actually. He is a pragmatic character but he has no time for that lot.

He had a pretty challenging relationship with Peter L but there was always a strong respect there. I am not sure how the new CEO at Celtic gets on there but I would imagine it would be good as we do things properly.

I honestly don’t think what rangers are doing will just be favours granted.

  17. Ive just been told by phone that my DA has Passed Away.

One of my half brothers told me.

The ” BIG MAN” would have been 90 this July.

For several years now he was totally blind and infirm. He died in his Care Home in Yoker.

I am consoling myself in the knowledge that my DA is in NO Pain any longer.

As a young Bhoy, my DA was my HERO.

He was just one of the Celtic supporters who stuck by the Club in the barren years of between 1957 and 1965. He ( Like thousands of others ) NEVER lost faith in Celtic, and he DROVE to LISBON in 1967 with his Taxi mates in Two private cars from Glasgow.

He was a real character, and many of his old Taxi mates mates who supported Rangers ALSO had a lot of time for him.

He was one of Lifes ” GENTLE GIANTS”…I am missing him already.

HH and good night BIG YIN…. from your Number 1 son.
