Seeking game time in Qatar

551

Marco Tilio made a late substitute appearance in Australia’s final Asian Cup warm-up game against Bharain on Saturday.  The player is clearly valued higher in his home country than around Lennoxtown.  With little prospect of a promotion to the Celtic starting line-up ahead, any chance the player has to shine would be useful for him and the club.

Oh Hyeon-gyu played the first half of Korea’s game against Iraq on the same day.  There is little chance of Oh moving on this month but, like Marco, he is a player who would benefit from gametime in Qatar.

Japan’s opener against Vietnam on Sunday will attract most attention from Celtic fans.  Reo Hatate should be close to full fitness, although I doubt he will start the game.  Daizen Maeda led the line for Japan at the World Cup, when they expected to play a counter-attacking game.  Tactics will be different against Vietnam than they were against Spain, so Daizen may not play the same role.

Again, you and I will lie in our beds at night pondering why one of the greatest Celtic players of this century is on a beach somewhere right now.

The Sun report Celtic have received a work permit for Nicolas Kuhn.  This detail is usually completed after paperwork is signed.  Hopefully we’re a ‘Ross Hall moment’ away from getting this one over the line.

    was man marked

I’m sure he worked their goalie a couple of times and might have hit the bar first half…..if my memory serves

  3. JACKIEMAC on 13TH JANUARY 2024 10:25 PM

did we hit the bar three times?

We might have done…I can’t quite remember

We pounded their goal that’s for sure.

Watched it live on tv….but haven’t watched it again for many years.

I do remember it was 2-1 going on 7-1

thanks for that….I completely forgot about our penalty claims AND Sarti clawing the ball on his goal line…we all swore the ball had crossed the line. I’d love to see an updated version with goal line technology….theyve done it for the ‘66 World Cup Final.

Let’s put it to bed once and for all

Did the WHOLE ball have to be over the line back then?

  5. This might go against the grain …

I think (just my opinion) we are in a great place

  7. Did Armstrong ever complete his law degree ? …how many trophies has he won (a) before he signed for us and ( b ) since he left ?🤔…some players really should remember the input that the famous Glasgow Celtic has had on their lives/ careers and appreciate it more ?….as far as I am aware grandkids are only interested in the medals / caps their grandfather achieved whilst playing ..not their bank balances 🍀

Fact or fiction I don’t know but do celtic need to stump up a further£200,000 to seal the Kuhn deal….

Couple of articles on newsnow saying that’s holding up the completion of the deal…..

Don’t know if it’s true or not….i read somewhere that because it’s a “tonic” they don’t pay the taxes that other distillers have to pay. Before becoming popular, as a tonic it was a very cheap way to get drunk. By all accounts it’s as dear now as alcoholic spirits. The manufacturers (monks?) must be absholootly (in a Coisty fashion) coining it in

I attended that meeting ,with 4 other Tim’s from the Methil & District CSC .

It was on a Sunday .

We arrived early ,and asked a local where we could get a pint .

It was pre opening time .

They told us to go to the cottage bar and knock the back door .

    We were allowed in .

    Very clandestine.

Then a few minutes later ,several members of an Orange flute band came in .

Luckily none of us had any colours on .

We suffered through our pints ,as the band members practised on theirs flutes ,and complimented each other on their plumed hats and uniforms .

We were heavily outnumbered ,by the time we left for the Halls.

  15. B2BGHF…. 31003.

    Thanks for the heads up.

The reason I asked was I had received at text from a friend (yeah I know it’s hard to believe I’ve got one) saying the deal wasn’t finalised due to the sum of money I mentioned…

As I said, fingers crossed it’ll go through 👍

Ps… I have no idea if the player is any good or will improve the squad, here’s hoping.

Matt McGlone,Gerry Dunbar ,one of the Bluebells .

Tall fella with mullet and green & white baseball jacket .

I don’t know his name ,but he has attended our matches regularly since the late 70’s with a female.

He now sits in the main stand .His hairstyle used to remind me of Dave McPherson.

Back in the ‘70s I played darts for my local. Unfortunately, the league we were in took in the pubs the entire length of Duke St. I have a very very Irish name, so it was suggested to me I used an alias. Thank god I did. I was pretty good back then and won most of my games. Bad enough beating them on their own patch, but if they had my real name I probably wouldn’t have left there alive. Must say it was brilliant pumping them with a picture of the Queen looking on….what must she have thought

  18. Just some info about a couple of posts

Ange when asked about a DOF, ” Never had one mate, don’t need one now”

Kevin Trippier,31,signed a 2.5 year deal with Newcastle worth £ 25 million with 1 year option.

Bought from Atletico for £ 12 million.

Armstrong on signing for Saints, ” Loved my time at Celtic,Great memories, but chance to play in the EPL,a dream of mine”

In truth I start to believe a player is coming to Celtic when the official website says

“Celtic are delighted to announce …”

Had a few bottles of Old England sherry after the Joe Miler final in 1989 …

Great engine tho. (as they say)

I was at love street the week before the cup final

The Celtic “bored” had made the deal, signed sealed and delivered …. Until McMurdo realised a P86 form had to be completed … tax free until you return to the UK … the Celtic “bored” stuck by the agreement

Dodgy Dave the 1st “swooped” and covered Maurice’s tax bill … the irony is still sweet …

F mo Jo … I would rather be skint than be that guy
