Seeking game time in Qatar

551

Marco Tilio made a late substitute appearance in Australia’s final Asian Cup warm-up game against Bharain on Saturday.  The player is clearly valued higher in his home country than around Lennoxtown.  With little prospect of a promotion to the Celtic starting line-up ahead, any chance the player has to shine would be useful for him and the club.

Oh Hyeon-gyu played the first half of Korea’s game against Iraq on the same day.  There is little chance of Oh moving on this month but, like Marco, he is a player who would benefit from gametime in Qatar.

Japan’s opener against Vietnam on Sunday will attract most attention from Celtic fans.  Reo Hatate should be close to full fitness, although I doubt he will start the game.  Daizen Maeda led the line for Japan at the World Cup, when they expected to play a counter-attacking game.  Tactics will be different against Vietnam than they were against Spain, so Daizen may not play the same role.

Again, you and I will lie in our beds at night pondering why one of the greatest Celtic players of this century is on a beach somewhere right now.

The Sun report Celtic have received a work permit for Nicolas Kuhn.  This detail is usually completed after paperwork is signed.  Hopefully we’re a ‘Ross Hall moment’ away from getting this one over the line.

I was employed by HMRC from 1988 to 2015… from about 2005 everyone knew Murray was moving debts from one place to another (allegedly) I think it was called creative accounting … also known as fraud

  2. G What amazes and angers me in equal measure is, he has held onto the parcels of greenbelt in Edinburgh (or he did)……

I worked (decorated offices) in Portcullis (sp) Charring Cross…

The security measures were tight to get in and out of there (like Barlinnie).

There was filing cabinets wrapped with chains Mr T would have been awestruck with….. I think they orange too if my memory is correct.

Ps…. have no idea if that was anything to do with the huns though it was 2013.

  5. Clunks I think that Marsapapa was saying that dodgy Dave’s game was up in 2005, it was a slow train crash until old rangers were finally liquidated, or will be. Legal stuff is like fencing. Eventually there is a clear winner no blood drawn. Just because you are watching the match play out doesn’t mean you get to have a stab yourself. Anyway isn’t P67 always telling us to never interrupt your enemy when they are destroying themselves. Hail Hail.

  6. NEWCASTLE v MAN CITY would have been MUCH MORE Enjoyable WITHOUT McCoist and his inane ramblings ( which he REPEATS EVERY TIME )..

However, I got LUCKY with the Correct Score of 3 – 2 for Man City at odds of 22/1 with the Bookie.

    Not too shabby.

  7. Good morning all from a -2 Garngad.

Big Jimmy well done on the footy bet.

I had a football bet on and cashed in with about 86 mins on each game.

I had a few teams on but 1 was Swansea to win and they were winning 2-1 so I cashed out and got £103 for my fiver and Swansea finished 2 – 2 so right call by me. 🤣

You keep getting better Jimmy for our swaree and we will get Don Johnson (BRRB) to arrange swaree when he is back.

    Speculation reported as fact.

An irritant when the SMSM do it.

IMHO, a betrayal when Celtic Cyberspace borrows and reuses the model.

BTW – have you ever wondered where uninformed hacks would be without access to the phrases “it is understood” and “I understand” ?

PS – happy to concede I could be completely wrong.

Entirely possible Iain Nicholson phoned a hack and said

“They want £3m but I’m only going to offer £2.8m. Go ahead and run with it. I love being branded a penny pinching miser whose only purpose in life is to make Brendan’s job harder”

Equally, entirely possible Rapid Vienna’s Financial Director phoned AJ and said

“You seem like a nice chap. Start your recording device and I’ll spill my guts on our transfer income strategy”

You were ok in portcullis the old Huns case was dealt with in Cotton House … the two “tax officers” were actual one season ticket holder from Govan and one from Celtic park… any person who tried to access the case would have been handed their P45

  13. Sevco have done a deal with Sky to show an extra game outwith the SPFL contract, so they can show another 2 games on PPV,desperate for cash….

thanks for that….I completely forgot about our penalty claims AND Sarti clawing the ball on his goal line…we all swore the ball had crossed the line. I’d love to see an updated version with goal line technology….theyve done it for the ‘66 World Cup Final.

Let’s put it to bed once and for all

Regarding the penalty claim, judging by these photos, VAR would have helped us.

Did the WHOLE ball have to be over the line back then?

The video celts guy seems to have thing about Celtic and transfer dealings.

Had a rant at the AGM when he was asking a question and it feels like he has blogged something about it most days since.

  16. garygillespieshamstring on

Yes, the whole ball had to be over the line even then.

It was even the rule that should have applied in a certain game at Wembley in 1966.

  17. I am now very wary of clicking on what appear to be ‘Celtic sites’ because some of them are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

  20. lets all do the huddle on

what the fk was mcilroy doing there.

he has a 1 shot lead over fleetwood with both of them teeing off at the last and he hits a driver into the water

that is either bad game management or just being too wide.

surely a safe long iron was the shout there

Didn’t know that was in the rule book, probably the league and the rest of the teams were unaware of that too 😳 🤔

  22. Harry Kewell admits he jumped at the chance to follow in Ange Postecoglou’s footsteps and manage Yokohama F. Marinos.

The ex-Celtic coach was this week unveiled as Kevin Muscat’s successor at the J1 League club after a year-and-a-half at Parkhead. The 45-year-old revealed that he was initially sounded out about the job during Celtic’s summer pre-season trip to Japan, where the Hoops lost 6-4 to Yokohama in a thrilling friendly encounter.

Kewell was later approached by a member of the club’s hierarchy about taking on the role of manager, with Muscat signalling his intention to step down in November. Having worked with Postecoglou and Celtic’s Japanese contingent, Kewell knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

He said: “I was lucky enough to spend some time with Ange Postecoglou and he always talked about how wonderful the J League was and his experience over in Japan was excellent. He always spoke highly enough to me by saying, ‘If you ever have the opportunity, you should take that opportunity and work over here’.

“I was lucky enough to be here when Celtic came over in the summertime. It was a fantastic game with the Marinos and I suppose I fell in love with here. I was then lucky enough, after the final game, that the Marinos got in touch with me and asked if I would like to manage their team and I suppose it just continued from there.”

Meanwhile, Kewell namechecked Hoops flying machine and ex-Yokohama star Daizen Maeda as a major influence in his decision to move to Japan.

He added: “Working with the four or five Japanese players we had at Celtic, the understanding and the willingness for the Japanese players to learn and want to better themselves was phenomenal. Even when I used to sit and do my one-on-ones with Daizen, it was amazing how someone who had a lot of potential still wanted to learn and I found that exciting.

“When I spoke to Ange about his time in Japan, he said I’d absolutely love it because the one thing I’ll get is a willingness from the players to learn and improve. As a coach, that’s the most exciting thing that you could wish for.”

    Big Dennis what a goalie.

ESP that game against us for St Mirren.

I always felt he would have been great playing for an English team where he was in the game more in their league. Celtic goalies needed incredible powers of concentration as they had so little to do.
