Sevco need clarity on SPL vote more than the actual votes

1395

News that Dundee United will vote against allocating a place in next season’s SPL to Sevco confirms what we suggested yesterday, that sentiment has swung against the notion.  Motherwell’s innovative idea of allowing fans (who have already expressed overwhelming opposition to the idea) a vote is further evidence that even hard-pressed clubs are prepared to make financially difficult decisions.  Suggestions that the Motherwell board should grow a pair and take responsibility themselves have some merit.

Stewart Milne has denied BBC reports that Aberdeen have decided to vote against but I expect this is a matter of due process more than any genuine indecision.

There was a feeling this morning that matters could be brought to a head sooner than 4 July if enough clubs publicly declared against Sevco.  This would suit Charles Green’s company as they would be able to prepare offers to Rangers players (who they are able to sign) knowing where they are likely to end up.  If they are forced to wait until 4 July, Sevco will not know what squad requirements they will need for next season before making a decision on what Rangers players to offer employment to.

More than SPL football, Sevco need clarity.  A rush to declare against them might seem harsh but it would be enormously beneficial rather than being forced to wait a further 12 days.

Next Thurs 28th I believe is the date players will get paid and also the date they have been asked to report back.

If they have been advised that they will be assumed to have accepted the transfer if theyaccept pay or report back before lodging an objection, then there should be plenty of action this week.

Never mind not knowing what league they’ll be playing in – they don’t know that Ranges will be playing at all,

I think that the Motherwell document is fair and quite sobering.

Rangers (deceased) have put these provincial clubs in a terrible position – they are in for a hard time regardless of the decision.

think it might have been Auldhied who previously suggested that some portion of Chumps League money should be redistributed to other SPL clubs in future – maybe not a bad idea?

Personnaly think they have missed highlighting that they will be down by nearly two thirds on their gate money if they vote newco in, assuming a boycott by away support is initiated by other clubs who are voting no.

  8. I think all the clubs understand that if they vote newco in, a boycott by opposing fans is the least of their worries, the real problem is a boycott by their own fans.

You can copy and paste a ‘pdf’ as a text document and then delete as you wish and then recreate the ‘pdf’.

    LOL @ Orange.

The actual phone signal for phone calls is ok but internet access is almost non existent. It is usually HT when trying to access the internet so perhaps it is the volume of people trying to access that is the problem.

I think this time he may have overdosed. This is the guy who has jumped more ships over the last six months that he could have crossed Niagara Falls without a tightrope. He has so much practice he could just have leapt. Now he wants the only real financial contributors to the stricken, 75% of income – more than the Mormons ask – to remain in…..eh, nowhere. It is absolutely gobsmacking that anyone would even dream up the notion never mind voice it that the unemployed should remain out of work and then put the blame on them for being made redundant and looking for another job. Even writing it seems like a drug infused hallucination. Time for a stomach pump Allo, Allo and not just to remove the Greigs’ pies!

You are right they don’t quantify it in the terms that you state. However they don’t ignore the problem. They state: “Whilst we do not anticipate a loss of gate receipts from NEWCO fans under this scenario it is very possible that we see a significant loss of income from fans of other clubs and our own depending on the general view of the ‘integrity”‘ of the game. This is impossible to judge at this stage………………..”

I think they are right in saying this scenario is impossible to to judge.

Overall the document seems fair and open to me. I’d like them to have stated how their current season ticket sales were going, but as a Celtic fan I can’t demand that information. If I was a Motherwell fan trying to vote in the ballot then I’d want that information up front.

Do we want to start re-writing the Mowbray era as one defined by dodgy refereeing as opposed to dodgy management (taking off N’Guemo for Ki at Pittodrie thus surrendering the midfield and the game)?

Well while we’re at it why not sing the praises of John Barnes?

If the cheating takes in the whole of the Advocaat era then in theory he is a league winning manager. After all his brand of football was far more entertaining than Mowbray, his teams had Lubo, Herrik, Viduka and Berkovic, when it worked it was incredible. No plan B though.

    ————————–

Just to clarify , I raised the Tony Mowbray issue in terms of how he now FEELS about his time at Celtic with the revelations coming from Ibrox.

I have no intention of a rewrite of history but winning breeds confidence and some of the games lost to bad decisions (including the one that led to the term Honest Mistakes at Ibrox) may have given him a better chance of success, however it was the personal views of TM I was asking about..

The winning team was Celtic, ahead of FC Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and Al-Ahly.

Each team played two matches, with three points awarded for a win and one point for a draw. Each goal was rewarded with a point and each one conceded saw a point deducted

Tony Mowbray didn’t stand a chance at Celtic because that season was the worst ever for cheating on the field IMO.

If just the stonewall Maloney penalty was given the whole course of history could be changed.

All that everyone is saying is “apply the rules without fear or favour”.

It has been quoted 100s of times through this debacle.

    Just do it.

Perhaps after doing so, we can begin to apply punishments.
