Sevco need clarity on SPL vote more than the actual votes

1395

News that Dundee United will vote against allocating a place in next season’s SPL to Sevco confirms what we suggested yesterday, that sentiment has swung against the notion.  Motherwell’s innovative idea of allowing fans (who have already expressed overwhelming opposition to the idea) a vote is further evidence that even hard-pressed clubs are prepared to make financially difficult decisions.  Suggestions that the Motherwell board should grow a pair and take responsibility themselves have some merit.

Stewart Milne has denied BBC reports that Aberdeen have decided to vote against but I expect this is a matter of due process more than any genuine indecision.

There was a feeling this morning that matters could be brought to a head sooner than 4 July if enough clubs publicly declared against Sevco.  This would suit Charles Green’s company as they would be able to prepare offers to Rangers players (who they are able to sign) knowing where they are likely to end up.  If they are forced to wait until 4 July, Sevco will not know what squad requirements they will need for next season before making a decision on what Rangers players to offer employment to.

More than SPL football, Sevco need clarity.  A rush to declare against them might seem harsh but it would be enormously beneficial rather than being forced to wait a further 12 days.

Off the ball reckon there should be a new Glasgow Cup

If there was we would play our reserves against Thistle or someone and treat it with the status it deserves.

I’d lose on purpose to screw Sky TV’s ploy to get a Green vs Blue Glasgow game

To be clear – I’d play a full team against The Blue mob and reserves against Queens Park, Thistle or Clyde (do they count)?

Losing 3 goals to a team that got relegated, conceding 4 goals to an Aberdeen side and the final St.Mirren game.

    You’ve convinced me.

Look – if the ‘New Rangers’ supporters all want to play in Div 3 and every other support wants them playing in Div 3 – why don’t we ask Sandy Jardine to arrange a joint march and we can all join them in a unique show of unity?

I’d say turn out for a Thistle or a Queens Park and treat it as a pre-season friendly. It won’t cost a lot but the final at Hampden I’d boycott.

  7. No Sky TV Deal and no parks buses either ,and thats the last i will mention them, well maybe?

  8. Glasgow Cup? Who would be in that then: us, Thistle and Queen’s Park. Clyde surely don’t count as a Glasgow team now, do they? Sevco don’t yet count as a football team, although I suppose they might at some point.

So how would it be structured? All play all in a round robin perhaps. If it’s knock out could they guarantee we would play Sevco? Put out the under 14s, hope they don’t manage to beat the Thistle first team and hell mend them all!

A defiant Ally McCoist issued a rallying cry in the midst of the Ibrox insolvency crisis, quashing all talk of quitting by declaring: ‘This is my club, the same as it is for thousands and thousands of Rangers supporters, and we don’t do walking away.’

Thanks for posting the view from St. Johnstone, a fantastic article, and one which I believe to be representative of the vast majority of the Scottish footballing public, something Gary Panton, (wonder if he is related to Scottish golfing great John) still considers himself part of even when based outside the country. Well done him!

Yes to the St J article. Probably the opinion of most real football fans (including those in SFL who are now being threatened with the presence of newClub) but one which when expressed by celtic fans is dismissed as bigotry and prejudice.

  18. here is my idea to revitalise scottish football top to bottom…

amalgamate the 3rd div with the 2nd division and the 1st division with the SPL

    LOTS OF LOCAL DERBYS…….

now if you only play each other home and away once this will most probably result in the following:

*full houses at every away Celtic as they will only get ane chance to see them at home.

*full houses at the away end at games at celtic park as again those unlucky to catch thier own home game might want to see them once.

*lack of boredom due to watching your local team playing others 4 times a season (yawn)

*full houses at locsal derbies…. for the same reasons above, you will only get one chance ast home.

*a tighter more competative league…why? because the only reason why there is such a huge gap betwen us tfod and 3rd place teams is because the 3rd place teams as well as the rest had to play us and the carcass 8 TIMES A SEASON!!!

    .

*if the league becomes tighter and more competative people WILL come out and watch again….after all the empty stands are because nobody has won the championship out side us and the stinkin carcass for what?? 26 years?.

*say for instance 2 are instantly relegated and a playoff for the 3rd place this again will add spice.

*take it that hibs, aberdeen united are sitting 4th or 5th ….and thier league status is secured….will they then play thier promising youth (AS WITH EVERY TEAM IN THIS LEAGUE INCLUDING US)…to give they a chance that they dont get now because of fear for thier league status as they do now????.

*again….say cowdenbeath, ayr, and morton are bottom of the table….and everyone else are secure… FOR THE REASON ABOVE TEAMS WONT PARK THE BUS BECAUSE EVEY POIUNT IS A PRISONER SUCH AS NOW!.

Teams will actually come out and play! without fear! THEN!!!!! people will fill stadiums once again and actually enjoy the spectacle.

*THIS in my opinion will breathe life once again into scottish football,

    FULL HOUSES

    EXCITING FOOTBALL

    CASH INJECTION THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITIES

    YOUTH GETTING A CHANCE

Being undertaking some trend analysis :

    – RFC will rever go into ADMIN : WRONG

    – RFC will never get LIQUIDATED: WRONG

    – RFC will get voted into SPL : WRONG

    – RFC will get voted into SFL1 : Prediction WRONG

    – RFC will get voted into SFL3 : Prediction WRONG

    – RFC will not play professional football 2012-13 :Prediction : Correct

    – RFC will never play ever another game of professional football : Prediction : Correct

Easy this trend analysis, just take every consensus of opinion from the MSM , apply a de-laughter algorithm and then a reverse polarity formulae and you get the correct answer.

Apparently, the results can be altered via an “Apology” factor, however based on a trend analysis from Social Media it appears the % probability of this occurring is 0%.

I know that it is purely academic, but my instincts would be the exact opposite. I would treat our OTHER lower league neighbours with respect by giving them a decent team to watch, while playing a team of untried youngsters against the Zombies.

    too many matches for me.

Remember Scottish Cup, League Cup and Europe on top + Internationals.

I’d like prize money split on points won. So there is a prize kitty set at the start of the season. At the end all points gained are totalled and the kitty is divided by that total. The cash is then distributed at the per point basis.
