Sevco need clarity on SPL vote more than the actual votes

1395

News that Dundee United will vote against allocating a place in next season’s SPL to Sevco confirms what we suggested yesterday, that sentiment has swung against the notion.  Motherwell’s innovative idea of allowing fans (who have already expressed overwhelming opposition to the idea) a vote is further evidence that even hard-pressed clubs are prepared to make financially difficult decisions.  Suggestions that the Motherwell board should grow a pair and take responsibility themselves have some merit.

Stewart Milne has denied BBC reports that Aberdeen have decided to vote against but I expect this is a matter of due process more than any genuine indecision.

There was a feeling this morning that matters could be brought to a head sooner than 4 July if enough clubs publicly declared against Sevco.  This would suit Charles Green’s company as they would be able to prepare offers to Rangers players (who they are able to sign) knowing where they are likely to end up.  If they are forced to wait until 4 July, Sevco will not know what squad requirements they will need for next season before making a decision on what Rangers players to offer employment to.

More than SPL football, Sevco need clarity.  A rush to declare against them might seem harsh but it would be enormously beneficial rather than being forced to wait a further 12 days.

  1. The Italians have a word for the likes of the FPLG and it’s ruffiano.

BTW during all this finger pointing at Hughie Green and the Blessed Criag Whyte 2 names are seldom mentioned and both were throwing money about like men with no arms after Kaunus when the support marched in protest demanding that they deserved better and actually wanting shot of a failed Toffee and Scotland manager.

It’s not EBTs that have them on their knees but a failed fiscal policy.

A global brand is now toxic. “Rangers” now means a revolting broth of tax-evasion; threatening corporate aggression; a profoundly arrogant refusal to apologise ever to anyone for anything.

  5. So are we to assume that McCoist has been TUPE transferred from Rangers FC PLC (in administration) to Sevco 5088 Ltd?

They do realise that they cannot just pick and choose who they want under TUPE, don’t they?

  6. Just met the Mwell neighbours , that 2 No votes in the bag!

    Re Mowbray’s season:

    – team had no work rate when the ball was lost

    – open midfield exposed our centre halves

    – BTM undermined defence confidence with critical press comments

    – creaky defence will always get exposed as the season wears on , what do we do buy a forward line in January and the work rate when we lose the ball drops off even more

Mark Walters cannot understand how they got themselves into this situation:

    English clubs 5 year Ban

Him and a few other English players go to Scotland on huge wages paid for by the Bank (not Murray allegedly).

Dodgy payments to future players because a country with 5M people cannot sustain the kind of spending Rangers were allowed by a bank over all others in the country AND paying players in a questionable manner.

Of Course Rob Mclean explained all this to him didn’t he……………

  12. was listening to RS in car today. This guy McLean is in complete denial about the Manky Mob, he is so driven by fear it`s worrying. He was even giving it the old” what SPL chairmen say and what they do..” line .

Even I , the biggest doubter around am starting to believe they are donaldl ducked.

  13. Right, this seems to be a quiet time so:

Having watched the two Republics, Irish and Czech, and Greece, I think changing the Euros from 16 to 24 teams would be a big mistake.

  14. By all means I am no expert on TUPE regulations, but have been subject to them 5 years ago. I believe the regs are to help the employee more than the employer. The company I was with ( Mowlem ) for 7 seven years suddenly lost a contract to another rival. I think under the regs terms and conditions stayed the same fo 6 months, then after that the new employer can change conditions etc. The empoyee can walk away anytime without any penalties.

Carrying on the great tradition of Aw Nawing on this blog, this is what in all honesty Mc Coist really should have said

“It has been reported that a couple of players have indicated they want to challenge the transfer of their contracts. This is news to me and no player has spoken to me about it since I switched my phone back on

“At all times during my first year as manager, I strived to show players respect and in return would have hoped they would have shown me, and more importantly the club, respect by notifying us of their intentions before making it known elsewhere in the media before we got to make it look better with our own press release

“Players have their own decisions to make and I understand that, but the question they have to ask themselves is do they want to play for Rangers or not or do they want to make their own decisions first then contact me?

“The formation of a new company is not the issue. The players would be playing for the same club – Rangers – in front of the same fans where exactly that will be is something we can’t tell them at the present time.

“If players want to leave and play somewhere else then they should be honest with the Rangers supporters first before they consider their own and their families needs

“I don’t want Rangers fans to be reading over the next few days how devastated players are about having to go. The fans deserve better than that. They are not daft well not as daft as they used to be.

“I can understand if a player has the chance to go somewhere else and there is uncertainty about which division we will be playing in or even if they will be playing at all.

“If that is the case that is understandable but they should not expect sympathy from Rangers supporters if they use the transfer of contracts as an excuse to leave because they don’t know if they will be working or not.

“I already know there are agents touting my players all over the United Kingdom, so let’s be brutally honest agents do what they think is right for their players.

“We are in a difficult situation and the contracts issue has given some players and agents the belief they can use it to leave the club. I don’t know why that is although it could be something to do with not knowing where they will be playing.

“After what the club and the fans have gone through after what Sir David and Craig Whyte did, the supporters, above all, deserve the truth and should not have to listen to stories trying to sugar-coat the possible departure of players from the club even if they are true.

“The players were magnificent last season and made great sacrifices and that will never be forgotten until they leave.

I also suggest a way for Mr Green’s Sevco to make some money – he could charge Duff & Phelps rent!
