SFL delivers as SPL Ltd facing insolvency

1374

The Scottish Football League today placed an upper limit on which division Sevco can play in next season – their Third.  We must now wait on the company providing sufficient information to complete their application to the SFL and for membership of the Scottish FA.  Although many Rangers fans want Sevco to join the Third Division, chief exec Charles Green was clearly hoping to start life higher up the food chain.

The overwhelming nature of this verdict indicates the solidarity between clubs and fans, throughout the divisions, on how our sport is governed.  This is a good thing but it leaves one burning question on the table:

Is the Scottish Premier League insolvent?

Last week SPL chief exec Neil Doncaster told SFL clubs that the Premier League would be unable to meet its contractual obligations if they did not vote Sevco into the First Division.  Unless this was a shameless lie designed to bully clubs into giving Doncaster what he wanted, the Scottish Premier League Ltd should seek to appoint an administrator without delay.

You can ignore comments about league reconstruction at some unspecified point in the future, Doncaster told us last year that “those who want 16 teams in the top flight are deluding themselves.”

The Scottish Football League does not need the SPL, or its money, to continue to thrive as a community-based sporting entity.  They will flourish.  What happens to the SPL remains to be seen.

As we have observed once or twice before, M. Platini, where are you?  We need the football world to assist with the survival of the game in one of its historic heartlands.

  4. Need to agree what we call and acknowledge the new Glasgow club who have recently entered the 3rd division.

My initial thoughts are that we should utilise the cubs and boy scouts salute!!

Yes the three fingered salute is indicative of third division status and if they manage to obtain promotion to the second and first divisions then the salute gets more annoying:/ interesting/abusive.

But what do we call their followers?

    The dib dib dibbers?

    The bob a jobbies?

rankers in liquidation. BDO are now about to come in and rip thems a new one. The fun is only just beginning.

rankers no longer exist but the huns continue to infest the environment.

Still. What’s left is gelded /caponised/emasculated.

    Never let them forget it.

Play Paddy McCourt in the number 10/25 role, either attacking or laying deep a la Pirlo.

Serious, theres no need for the overly carefull two holding midfeilders we have played previously thats been a waste of time, time for the Manager to play inventive football with the players he has avaialable.

Get the finger out NL and start managing a team.

My brother has been calling them ‘Klingons’ for the past couple of weeks as they try to cling onto any part of the Oldhuns FC. They are desperate to retain any link to that soon to be liquidated club.

goodnight bhoys, on this night of nights when the hun found out that no one likes them and they really wished they had cared after all

  16. I’m as confused as anyone, but there really are reports coming out of Spain of actual revolution…..but there is some kind of msm blackout.

  17. A couple of years ago I posted Peterhead 2 – rangers 0 on here as a prediction of the future. Never really thought it could possibly come true. It set a trend that night. Posters finished off their posts with rangers 1- Elgin 3 etc. that mob are now in line to get humped by one of the minnows and they WILL get humped at some point next season by some team with an average home gate in the hundreds.

So I’ve got mine. Everybody else got their ST. Need to sell out to prove that we stand alone. No other club or ex club required. hail hail.

And don’t they know it ,just listen to sally and green and their supporters ‘

We have been given the ultimate punishment ,we will now start at the bottom with no sanctions .

they want the corruption and cheating that they indulged in to be swept under the carpet and the BIG L was the only way they had any chance of doing it .

I am not interested in punishing them I just want the same rules applied to them as would be applied to ANY other Scottish club .

They got off lightly with Div 3 but their so proudly guarded history need a slight adjustment and I am sure if we ask sally and their fans (now that they are all for starting afresh and cleansed ) they will agree that every honour won dishonestly

    will be rescinded .

I do not want these cheated titles given to any runners up ,I would prefer they were shown in the history books as void with a prefix as to why

“That’s where Rangers used to play”, I said to 2 english visitors as I drove them cityward from the airport. We were passing govan on the M8, in case your wondering. I stole the line from someone on CQN. It’s a belter.

Woody Guthrie would have been a Celtic fan. 100 years today for Woody had he made it.

This land now is really made for you and me.

  25. I am sure the Sevco FC fans are looking forward to claiming a title that Celtic FC will never achieve.

How Celtic fans will ever be able to live with the shame of never, ever having won the Scottish Division 3 title I really don’t know.

Actually, I don’t think the Sevco will actually survive long enough to win even a football match, let alone the title.

I suspect BDO may be scoring a few too many goals of their own for Sevco to survive.

  26. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

My mate’s would be son in law used to play at Peterhead. We were going to head up to do the corporate gig.

We got the offer.. Table for 10, including meal , drinks , naming MOTM and a return minibuses collection / return between Aberdeen and Peterhead ..all for £80. I think they will need to cut their prices now Stranrar out of the division….. :-)
