SFL delivers as SPL Ltd facing insolvency

1374

The Scottish Football League today placed an upper limit on which division Sevco can play in next season – their Third.  We must now wait on the company providing sufficient information to complete their application to the SFL and for membership of the Scottish FA.  Although many Rangers fans want Sevco to join the Third Division, chief exec Charles Green was clearly hoping to start life higher up the food chain.

The overwhelming nature of this verdict indicates the solidarity between clubs and fans, throughout the divisions, on how our sport is governed.  This is a good thing but it leaves one burning question on the table:

Is the Scottish Premier League insolvent?

Last week SPL chief exec Neil Doncaster told SFL clubs that the Premier League would be unable to meet its contractual obligations if they did not vote Sevco into the First Division.  Unless this was a shameless lie designed to bully clubs into giving Doncaster what he wanted, the Scottish Premier League Ltd should seek to appoint an administrator without delay.

You can ignore comments about league reconstruction at some unspecified point in the future, Doncaster told us last year that “those who want 16 teams in the top flight are deluding themselves.”

The Scottish Football League does not need the SPL, or its money, to continue to thrive as a community-based sporting entity.  They will flourish.  What happens to the SPL remains to be seen.

As we have observed once or twice before, M. Platini, where are you?  We need the football world to assist with the survival of the game in one of its historic heartlands.

Am I the only one who thinks that the assumption that New Rangers will automatically achieve season on season promotion from Div 3 (assuming thats where they start) , even with all the help they’re bound to get from the MIB, is actually a pretty big assumption?

EVERY game will be a cup final for their opponents.

Yup. Wonderful isn’t it. Every game will be a kick and rush battle. Blood and snotters.

not bothered either way, more annoyed that the governing bodies have been so focused on rescue newco they have failed to secure the best deal for scottish football. if there was any question of the sky deal falling through talks with other t.v channels should have taken place.

spl football is no good because the guys running our game are not good business men, if we had good business men who understood the value of our game football would generate better revenue, we would get better players in and the cycle would improve our game/ european challenge etc…

the sky deal in england see’s 6 million per game, yet many generate awful t.v audiences, a celtic vs.rangers games should attract same figue given the audiance and sponsorship involved. so in recent season at least 24 million per season before you add all the other games in, what do we get 20 million from two t.v. companies for 30+ live games, f&ck right off

my opinion has never changed……a few moments of doubt from time to time but I have said from the start that division 3 at best…..thankfully justice has prevailed….to a certain level….they should be in no league at all…but that was never going to happen

  10. Hector Avocado. Silence is tacit consent. on

    Dozens of things to consider

So, the story so far as I see it….

    What we know for certain

    1) Rangers FC 1872 are in Liquidation

    2) Rangers FC 1872 fraudulently acquired results on the park through undeclared Dual Contracts

    3) Rangers FC 1872 fraudulently acquired taxation from employees and did not pass it on to HMRC.

    4) Rangers FC 1872 cheated taxpayers out of millions of pounds in revenue.

    5) Duff and Phelps made 2.5m out of the taxpayer and other creditors by running the Club at a loss during administration.

    6) The SFA, SPL and SFL authorities have shown themselves to be heavily conflicted, bullied, threatened and harassed member clubs and have colluded against fairness and a judicious process.

    7) Sevco will not be playing in the SPL

    8) Sevco will not be playing in the SFL Division 1

    9) Sevco will not be playing in the SFL Division 2

    10) The Scottish MSM are moribund.

    11) The NM have lead the way along with MSMs like Alex Thompson on C4.

    12) Regan, Doncaster and Ogilvie are compromised and are wholly unpopular across the footballing population of both fans and clubs.

What we don’t know for certain

    1) If Sevco will be able to get a team together

    2) Who Sevco’s financial backers are and whether they will walk away

    3) If Sevco will be in administration soon.

    4) If Sevco will be successful in an application to join the SFL

    5) If a non league club will launch a legal bid against a Newco being parachuted into SFL Div3

    6) If the SFL/SPL will snub democracy and plough ahead with more plans to get Sevco into the top flight

    7) Whether the SFA Appelate panel will convene to punish Rangers FC 1872

    8) Whether Sevco who are at Ibrox and wearing Rangers FC 1872 ties and emblems will be held accountable for the crimes of Rangers FC 1872.

    9) Whether the SPL will continue to investigate Rangers FC 1872

    10) Rangers FC 1872 will be stripped of their fraudulent titles and trophies and those same redistributed to other clubs.

    11) Whether Sevco will play with with Rangers FC 1872 strips and history.

    12) Whether Sir David Murray will soon be just David Murray. Whether anyone will be going to jail over the whole fiasco.

  11. Hector Avocado. Silence is tacit consent. on

    Sorry meant to add a don’t know…..

    13) Whether the exodus of people like Alex Thompson from the scene of the crime will increase the likelihood of more gerrymandering and fraud….

  12. Have we signed anyone yet. Jordan Rhodes? eTims rumour mill full of the usual Lillian gish but I am addicted to it like all things Celtic.

  13. The first games for the Ramsdens Cup take place 2 weeks tomorrow. Two weeks after that, the league kicks off.

I can see them booting the RC into touch, if that’s not too offensive, but to get a team together in four weeks will take some doing. Especially if the Yanks and Goian leave.

The Singing Detective – A couple of weeks ago,Dr. Gregory Ionnidis(@Law Report) cautioned that it was necessary to initiate the process of stripping R*nkers(IA) of the ‘Stolen Titles’ before they went into liquidation.

He suggested that once R*nkers went into liquidation,it would no longer be technically possible to remove the titles from the former club.

I respectfully disagree with Dr. Ionnidis. After all, in the absence of the defunct Rangers, who would have locus standi to challenge an SFA decision on Rangers’ past misdeeds?

If any SPL club wants to mump about the money they`ll lose due to Sevco going to Division 3(hello Inverness) they should voluntarily go to Division 3 too and give one of the principled SFL clubs their place in the SPL.

  19. I wrote this earlier on facebook and it took me ages, so i am going to post it here to make the effort seem worth while.

The question was, is it now all over ? settled here in div 3 ?

If they are still hanging about as a rangers type fiend they still have the 160k to pay and a signing embargo (or worse to be confirmed by the appalete (?) committee – potential expulsion). A wee tax case, a big tax case, BDO investigation on D&P, Serious Fraud Agency investigation of Murray, Potential appeals by other amateur clubs as to their rights for SFL admission, Titles and cups to be stripped with financial recompense to those clubs that missed out europe etc, an investigation as to whether or not rangers met the license criteria for europe in the last two seasons with potentially further financial recompense to European teams played against, three years fully audited accounts (for a newco. that’s still in nappies), regan and doncaster to try and keep their employment status, and any other news still to hit the MSM. Plenty of chip wrappers to be had :-) also, to correct a lot of pro rangers media today, rangers have not been punished by playing in the 3rd division, that is the rules. The punishment is still to come :-) 10 lines of ‘I must avoid the naughty step’ should just about cover it for the SFA….maybe ;-) p.s how many bodies do they have and do they need 11 to start a game ?

while I think theres a few twists and turns possible yet I still have to take a step back from time to time and reflect on whats happened to them.

It’s not just that theyve fallen out the tree its the fact that theyve hit every branch , and hard, on the way down in full public glare with the light being turned on them by the likes of CQN , AT and RTC.
