Signing no-marks, CL shake-out

289

You have to love the weeks of anticipation ahead of the new season, when teams can consider that just about anything is possible. Nowhere is this truer than at Newco, where the pages of newspapers proclaim the signing of some or other no-mark you have never heard of.

From a purely football aspect, the imminent challenge for boss Caixinha, to qualify for the Europa League group stage, is fascinating. Do not for a second believe he has been asked to lay a glove on Celtic, pragmatism determines this is clearly not possible.

After a season of domestic invincibility, there are a few in our ranks who believe our own imminent challenge, to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, will be a formality. I doubt it will be. We will certainly be better prepared than we have been for many years, but you can expect to see tense times in Scandinavia, Easter Europe, or perhaps Central Asia.

Celtic teams with Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Thompson, Lambert and Lennon failed this task. Peter Lawwell has money to spend right now, but he cannot count on a huge dividend from Uefa until it is guaranteed.

The Road To Lisbon

The Road To Lisbon team announced this morning that they achieved their target of raising £50k for Celtic FC Foundation, Solving Kids Cancer and Children in Crossfire. It is a breath-taking achievement by CQNers and others. When Mouldy67 looks back on his life’s achievements, this chapter will put the biggest spring in his step.

Well done to all on a fantastic achievement. Here’s a message from Mouldy (who you can still support here):

Yes, I’d file it under natural evolution of the team/squad – the youngest (first team) squad in Europe right now is probably Ajax, who ended the Europa final with an average age of about 20, but having 3 or 4 older, experienced leaders is no bad thing and thats what we have right now.

As I say there is no immediate panic and I’d say Celtic are comfortable with where the 3 players mentioned are in terms of their careers. And as you say there is an extensive scouting range and a number of youngsters who will be threatening the first team within the short/medium term.

On another point, 3 or 4 years ago who could have seen the day we’d even be talking about breaking our transfer record again? There is a strong backbone to Celtic now and we’re well equipped for dealing with the loss of a player or two. Having the right manager in place is key to getting it right regarding the development of the squad.

“Had their been proper accountability in 2012 there still would a team playing at Ibrox called Rangers, but had the views of supporters at large been taken into account in the 5 way agreement thinking, the cost would have been TRFC were not the same club and titles won during ebt years by RFC removed or asterisked.”

Even with “proper accountability” back in 2012 would the club formally called Rangers not have gone to the wall sooner because it just couldn’t hope to honestly pay its debts?

Also regards the five way agreement I just can’t ever get my nut around the fact that there is only one Rangers but yet two separate Rangers were party to that agreement.

Eleven of the twelve most recent terrorist incidents in Australia have been carried out by refugees or their sons.

Make of that what you will.

    No further correspondence………….

  5. What I’d like to see this summer:

Out the door: Bailly, Fasan, Toure, O’Connell, Allan, Ciftci & Janko

    New Contract: Broony and Armstrong

    Signing: Patrick Roberts

Out on loan: Ajer, Christie, Henderson

Promoted to the first team squad: Ralston, Mickey & Hazard

I wouldn’t mind seeing Hayes join and GMS leave but I don’t think it’s a priority.

I also would quite like to see another striker. Keep Dembele til January and see where we are. If we are well clear in the league and out of Europe it’d be good to have another striker ready to take the reigns after having 6 months to settle.

Our team has just went undefeated and won a treble. I don’t expect or want wholesale changes. The priority is signing up those we already have.

What percentage of rapes/murders/ sexual assaults have been carried out by immigrants or the descendants of immigrants?

  8. I think there’s alot of evidence that Celtic will back BR in the transfer market.

He wanted a new Broony back in January and we signed Khouassi the latest Ivorian star, he wanted a new pitch we’re layin it, its pretty certain we’re attempting to break the club transfer record with the signing of Patrick Roberts. Throw in, negotiations with the best player in Scotland outwith Celtic and Barry Mackay and we’re good to go. When the vultures were set to pounce, we gave Brendan a new contract.

We are presently queuing in the pouring rain for the last remaining ‘restricted view only’ season tickets and the old miss placed ‘board’ cynicism on top of an invincible treble is strictly limited to the internet.

As far as terrorist acts go I found the most recent reported act a strange one indeed. For me, the modus operandi just didn’t seem to be in tandem with a committed terrorist’s indiscriminate contempt for innocent lives.

They are reporting it as an act of terrorism but I am skeptical.

    ———

Are you suggesting Australian officials are putting out a false flag?

Still given the commentary of Macjay with regards immigration and how the Australiangovernment has it so much more nailed down than the UK, I am still interested in his insight, or more appropriately, outsight. On top of that his take on Australian justice and parole system is also sought.

He’s quick to jump on the immigration (I’ll cal lit race/religion) card within minutes of something happening in the UK or Europe.

Don’t get involved in that. It’s whataboutery. It’s very unpleasant and very disappointing to read it.

I reckon it would be quite a high percentage.

And the only way to make Australia safe is to send them all back to where they came from.

So maybe he should be campaigning to have himself deported.

It’s a bit like the comment about that Baroness Warsi ‘She’s so right wing she would send herself back.’
