Sine die Murray for Rangers lying and cheating

953

“The appeal is dismissed.” With those words at the Supreme Court in London at 9:52 this morning, Rangers tax cheating was established as fact. The charlatans who manipulated Scottish football fans were shown to be the disgrace they are.

Rangers made unlawful payments, totalling many millions of pounds, to footballers, who, by the club’s own admission in court, they would have been unable to recruit if they had to pay tax and National Insurance contributions for.

They lied to HMRC.

They also hid documents from HMRC, which only came to light during a City of London Police raid on Ibrox.

They hid documents from the SPL and SFA, failing to honestly register dozens of players.

They cheated the tax man.

They cheated the welfare state, the NHS, the police, councils, schools. They cheated the Army and other services.

The SPL’s (now called Scottish Professional Football League) Commission into these matters must now be set aside. It was conducted on the assumption that Rangers acted legally. Lord Nimmo Smith was clear that his conclusions were predicated on this point.  A fresh commission is required, we cannot just allow the biggest cheats in British sporting history wander off into the distance.

The SFA has failed to call Sir David Murray to account, or the other directors of Rangers, who had explicit responsibility to ensure the club acted within the laws of the land and within the rules of football, both of which it failed to do.

Murray should be sine died. God knows, I cherish every moment Dave King controls things at Ibrox, but he was a director of Rangers with legal responsibility for its actions. They should all be censured.

Seriously, this SFA mob need to be defeated, or the cheating will continue.

Ive had enough of these corrupt bigots.

Surely if we can attract 60,000 supporters to Celtic Park, we can protest against this blatant corruption.

    This is sickening.

    SFA Statement –

For them to do anything without being forced to would open an unprecedented can of worms.

It would take a billionaire to pay the lecky bills for all the ludge all night meetings.

Once we see what progress if any on the anticipated SPFL review, it looks like we go down the route of a Judicial Review to force the issue.

Will take a monumental effort from many of us in many ways, but we can make it happen.

Many years ago we used to laugh at Italian football, the belief that it was corrupt to the core. Now that mantle is with Scottish Football. All of our clubs must work together to ensure that the failure to do anything to stop Oldco cheat their way to the top is addressed. Fans spoke out and won when they proposed Sevco be parachuted into the Premiership we can do it again.

Simple. Like others, SFA simply want to bury whole affair.

I see the story is already “moving on” to English clubs and other businesses. Busy day, Jim?

  8. The SFA are the clubs its up to the clubs, senior counsel my rectum, who was he what did he read who did he communicate with, garbage of the highest order and basically giving an up you to all supporters not of the sevco persuasion. They are up to their necks in a cover up and it needs blown wide open.

I think that a key question would be why did the SFA agree to the LNS enquiry at all in 2013 – and what was relevant then that isn’t relevant now?

Surely the sanctions that were open to them in 2013 would be no different to the sanctions available now given that Rangers FC were already “in Liquidation”?

  12. embramike supporting Res 12 on

So the SFA are saying the operating an illegal tax avoidance scheme does not breach the Scottish FA’s Disciplinary Rules as they applied at the time of the EBT payments ? Seriously ??!!

What exactly are these Disciplinary Rules there to guard against then? What use are they if they don’t regard this behaviour as a breach of rules ?

  13. SFA statement incredibly weak.

Precisely. Be vigilant bears and consider your actions in terms of businesses you support, clubs you buy tickets from carefully. We must be ready to respond to any attacks on our club.

Remember, as we have seen, we have the power to reduce Scottish football to nothing.

As I said earlier, the SFA made their position clear last week – “Scottish football needs a strong Rangers”.

  18. thetimreaper on

The SFA statement is the most laughable i have ever read. It says it has taken advice from Senior Counsel but does not name him/her nor does it says what advice they gave. So it could have been any Tom, Dick or Harry who was carefully selected…. It says they shared this advice with the Board. Who is on the Board? What the statement says is Senior Counsel precedes any investigations into potential breaches of SFA rules. You couldn’t give Regan and his mob a red neck with a blowtorch. Absolutely shameful.

  19. SFA statement

A lot of emphasis on the external QC’s input there, apparently to ensure a robust and independent opinion on this matter ( aye right ) .No great detail into the thinking or rationale it took to reach this conclusion.

Typically non transparent and lacking in accountability from our dear friends in Mount florida .

    Disband the sfa

  20. thetimreaper on

Apparently the SFA only have jurisdiction over the Scottish Cup. SPFL will decide on League Titles. Not sure if correct.

  21. When Rangers won the SPL on the last day of the 2002/2003 season five of their six goalscorers were paid via a EBT tax avoidance scheme

    NoAdvantage CSC

  22. If the clubs won’t act then it is up to those who have been cheated, in other words the fans, to fund a legal action against the SFA. At the end of the day it’s our money that has been misappropriated to fund this fiasco of cheating and we are talking a lot of money here over the years of cheating.

If you paid money into a lottery and eventually found that it had been rigged so that you had no chance of winning it then, in my opinion, there would be recourse to the courts.

I for one would certainly help fund such an action. Celtic should be aware that doing nothing makes them complicit and this will not sit well with a very large number of fans.

  23. SFA Board have agreed the statement.

Who are these people ? Who attended ? Did they vote ? Who voted which way ?

I do not mean this to be a superally threat but we need to know what clubs and reps did this.

  24. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

If someone in the FA or EPL made a comment like that they’d be out on their ar$e the next day. Look at what Allardyce got sacked for.

The clubs must WANT these guys there.

  25. Go tell the Spartim on

So basically they’ve taken the word of one senior counsel, Fgs every lawyer I know has an opinion and tbh a lot of those opinions aren’t worth the time of day

  26. embramike supporting Res 12 on

    Request to the SFA

When will we see a copy of the opinion from Senior Counsel which prompted the “No further Action” stance on EBTs from the SFA ?

Can we launch a FOI request or will it take a legal challenge ?

  27. Ok so great news on the court case. Celtic have mad a statement but in my opinion it’s a buck passing statement (for now at least). The sfa has rushed to declare its hand with a statement which says nothing. It directly contradicts what Celtic have asked for so that’s interesting. The SPFL are yet to declare.

And yet all of this is really really simple. The Huns have been npbanged to rights and they have admitted in a court of law that they got advantage from it. No further review or enquirer is needed and I am afraid that Paul and Celtic are leading us right up the garden path by saying their should be a new review. More jam tomorrow and seriously if of you trust in a Reiner in Scotland you are seriously not paying attention.

The titles need stripped, it’s very very straightforward.

The power we have as supporters was made clear previously. The power is to threaten boycotts. Even Celtic will pay attention to that.
