Really delighted at the flow of sentiment towards Billy McNeill and the launch of the new frontage of Celtic Park tomorrow. The place is beginning to look like a 21st Century venue, now we need the shops, restaurants and bars to bring the match-day experience alive.
Were you one of the fans who put £620 (or more) into Celtic shares in 1994? Around 10,000 did, raising an initial total of around £10m from small investors alone. It wasn’t an investment, none of us wanted or expected the money back, it was our contribution to Celtic at a time of critical need.
Many small investor-Rangers fans did the same when Newco went to market in December 2012, although one high-profile investor, who coughed up £500k, has asked Dave King to buy him out.
The stark reality facing these shareholders is that if King’s path is followed to a logical conclusion the club will be run into the ground, destroying their investments along with everything else. I have some sympathy for their position.
King is not interested in buying control of the club, even at the discounted price shares are now available at. He emailed the £500k investor “Why should any new investor bail out existing investors because they made mistakes in overpaying for their shares. The club needs money not complaining shareholders”.
The price paid by small investors was perhaps the most irrelevant figure to them, they paid the gross figure they could afford, irrespective of price. The value of the share was irrelevant so to accuse them of making a mistake by overpaying is like criticising the month of March for being too purple.
How the small shareholders feel about this behaviour will not determine what actions the Newco board takes, that will be come down to how easily manipulated people like the Easdales, Mike Ashley and Laxey Partners are. My information is they are not easily manipulated in the slightest.

Borrowing money to save and support your club is true love indeed.
Well done to you and all who did that.
Recieved copies of Seville an Yogi Bare this morning.
Looking forward to a few days of quiet indulgent reading

You picking this week?
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Ok Re a James F… I’m taking £7m at first opportunity. Here’s why-
I’d rather have a £1m replacement like McKay Stevens on the pitch most games than a £7m player on the treatment couch.
If we want a direct replacement for £750 (who in my opinion is more effective) go ask Bournemouth if they’d sell Ryan Fraser….
Tell you what buy both and bank. £6.25m
£5.25m

Whose Mathew Lindsay…….?……journalist…? …..very amusing, incidentally…!!
Lennybhoy, affirmative.
James Forrest, bags of talent but bags of injuries to go with it.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk he is valued at 1.5M
Played 16 league games with a total of 12 of those games either coming on or going of as a sub. 1 cup game (Dons) and played a total of 10CL games ( 6 Qualifiers)
Make of that what you will but 7M is the usual DR stirring the shit nonsense.
Would love it if the Robert Snodgrass rumours were true.
KTF Celtic 5 Aberdeen 0
On the Jamesy front, Aiden is hardly a regular in the Everton team.Since signing he has only played 498 minutes out of a possible 1440 minutes and only had 2 starts in 11.

James Forrest is the best player we have on our books, outwith Forster & Van Dijk. Therefore, it is no surprise to see a seasoned football scout like Martinez (and Harry Redknapp before him) being interested in bidding for James when many of the other players, more favoured by the CP crowd, do not attract much transfer interest.
£7m would be a steal by Everton. Celtic would be mad to sell at that price- our worst undersell since Boruc to Fiorentina.
——————————————————–
So what you mean, SFTB, is that James is the 3rd best player on our books? :-)
On a more basic and less frivilous point, how are you able to compare a goalkeeper, central defender and winger and make a decision about who is best? You’re trying to compare completely different things here? What’s better – a yum-yum or a claw-hammer?

Got one of my favourite days of the season tomorrow,a group of season ticket holders who have known each other for years meeting for pre match curry and then post match drinks, can’t wait.We normally do it at Xmas and end of season they are great days, even if nowadays they tend to end a little earlier than they used to…………old age has its challenges.
No taxi required CSC.
Trains still run at 9pm :-)
Just driving up the road there from Morrisons with weekend ‘supplies’ and the newsreader reports that 5 monkeys have been stolen from Blackpool zoo. I burst out laughing as my thoughts immediately flew to captain Bazza now ‘managing’ Blackpool FC.

…and you’re my favourite…… :)
I’m amazed at how highly rated Forrest is by some fans. I just don’t see it.
To me he is injury prone, inconsistent and throws his arms up in the air every time he is tackled. He strikes me as a guy who will still be a “promising youngster” in his mid twenties. “If only he could stay fit” folk will be saying for years to come.
Snodgrass for me would be much more effective and could be a leader on the park.. Someone who could take the pressure of Kris Commons if he is injured or out of form. Forrest is nowhere near that level of player for me.
Having said that, can’t see Everton bidding and can’t see Lennon allowing him to leave anyway. He seems to see James as his project and is very protective of him.
67 heaven
I particularly liked the one “Here’s another game. Type sycophantic Sevco areselicker and see who it names”
Squire, saw your Juve post.I watched the game and had great fun watching Italians bitching about players diving and wasting time…………whats the German word again :-)
GIRUT.
Particularly enjoyed watching the wee Swiss ***** moaning non stop then missing a sitter with ten minutes to go.
See you tomorrow.

James Forrest and Adam Matthews are the most talented young players at the club. Both are built the same way, both endure the same problems as their bodies adapt to the physical demands of life as a professional athlete.
By 25 their bodies will have matured and their injury troubles will recede. In the meantime, just applaud their wonderful football when they’re fit to play.
Going nowhere.
Johann Murdich- a pleasure meeting you sir, many thanks to BlantyreTim and Voguepunter, look forward to meeting CQN’rs old and new next week.

All good here.
Didn’t find any pubs owned by Tims but we were made very welcome in the Saracens Head for league win day a couple of years ago. Entertaining for the locals to see 2 adults and 2 kids noisily watching a lunchtime kick off.
Plenty of good pubs in and around. One of the best English inventions – the country pub and local boozer.

Totally agree with you regards Adam,I’ve been saying since we signed him that he may well end up being our largest selling fee ever at some point in the future. Not so sure on James I hope you are correct though particularly since he’s Scottish. He often frustrates but then changes a game with a piece of magic,a little consistency required I think.

Does anyone really know the ratio of the £70m that was actually spent on Huns infrastructure compared to their usual thievery over the last 2 years?
Surely the SFA nor at least our illustrious judiciary should be interested ?
Can you play football in the Glasgow Celtic Way?
A part of me judges a player’s worth to the team,is how much he is missed if he is not playing.I have to be honest and say Forrest has been out for so long i’d forgotten about him.An impact sub at best for me.
