Some perspective first. Ronny Deila, manager of Norwegian champions Stromsgodset, is not about to be appointed Celtic manager. He does, meet the criteria, unlike the various one-season wonders cast aside from the English Premier League. I believe there are two other strong candidates, Ronny has no pre-eminence at this stage, but unlike the various ‘favourites’ who have appeared in recent times, at least he is a genuine possibility.
Stefan Johansen worked under Ronny immediately before joining Celtic, which gave club scouts an insight into the coach’s style of play. Stromsgodset are predominantly an attacking team, who press high up the field and pass quickly.
His players are dedicated athletes or they don’t remain his players for very long. He is also one of the game’s intellectuals, a former teacher – and what I’ve been asking for since Neil resigned – a student of the game. His attitude to his own role is one of continual professional development.
Ronny has a track record of improving players and improving teams. He is not a brand name, nor a shareholder’s whim. He is not being considered because he’s ‘pals with Peter and out of a job’.
Please bear in mind………..
Ronny Deila is only one of three genuine contenders Celtic are considering at the moment but all three match the same criteria. They are intelligent, technically adept, progressive, winners. Which has made me more excited than any of the names suggested so far.

When I saw photos of your lady I thought how did Michael get of with her?
Now I’m doubly astounded as she is clever also
Hail hail
On the subject of football corruption and FIFA here’s a short editorial from the FT that highlights part of the problem – FIFA is based in Switzerland but is not subject to the criminal law in that country despite the billions of £’s it handles :

Your correct about RM.
I did the stadium tour years ago and they do not recognise huns as having the league title record.
But…they did have a nice video of RM v Celtic when Jinky run riot in Di Stefano’s testimonial with 100,000 crowd.

Even if that were the case Lustig has proven those people to be wrong.
Yes Keane won promotion with Sunderland which was a good achievement but you could argue that being a yo-yo club is their natural position. He did benefit from having a bit of money to spend from the parachute payment.

Great post this morning.
And sorry to hear of your loss.
Take care.
Twists,
If you scroll back to somewhere between midnight and 1am HamiltonTim explains it better than I could.
If you can’t be arsed scrolling the gist of it was rye catcher started his usual pash about teachers to have a dig at HT.
Great post earlier btw. HH.

Enjoy your holidays!
Billy Bhoy 05:
He used to get slaughtered on here, so much so I thought it was Telfer in a borrowed body.
weeminger:
It is all academic now, Keane isn’t coming whether he was offered the post or not. I personally don’t think he was. I think he listened to the terms and conditions and said please don’t consider me any further.
I was just wondering why so many had the knife out for Keane.
Petec, if it’s still going can I blah last seat mate
Not sure if John Collins ego could handle being a No 2 to anyone.
It was a teacher that started Celtic.
So they are not all bad ;/)
The Swedes, Danes and Norwegians have been “exporters” of football talent rather than “importers” for as long as I can remember – and they churn out a fair few decent pros as evidenced by their international teams consistently punching above their weight.
So to deride their leagues as inferior misses the point – they are often good athletes who are very well coached and generally have a good work ethic – ingredients that are high on the menu in the new world order at Celtic Park. Maybe no bad thing to have that background if you are coaching in the SPL?…
The nonsense posted on here about teachers, some who post on here is insulting to a very dedicated group of professionals IMO.Cause some guys got a hard time at school,or too thick to understand what was being taught.
‘He Sacrificed himself so the Future would be better’
– whose future? His? Or the teams?
He cetainly sacrificed Liam Miller’s future, when he told him to leave Celtic for Man U.

I think there was two reasons
1) he’s not good enough and
2) it was a cynical move by the board to put bums on seats (and he’s not good enough)
I did see a theory the other night that perhaps Keane had put himself forward and he’d been spoken too out of courtesy.
You’re right though it’s all academic now.
Kitalba I would have thought there are various reasons why players run down their contract. Again how much did Joe and Adam cost? Hail Hail Hebcelt
kitalba 09:59,
Our Youngsters need a hard taskmaster.
Neil was very friendly with all his players, from the very early reports, if my mind isnae playing tricks.
Andy Walker on ssn .we went from high profile candidate to a no-one
the job isnt attractive to anyone. wtf he’s a tool

He considered over 4/5 days, it apparently involved DD, MON and RK, if it did have DD spearheading it then i believe the job was Keane’s IF he wanted it, we can all play semantics around what constitutes a job offer, as you say all academic now

Where do you stay olde chap? No problemo for a lift.
twist ‘n’ turns,
First of all, condolences on your sad loss.
As for your reappraisal of your view of Celtic, I am in complete accord.
Going by your references, we have trodden a similar path with our club.
I got annoyed last night with the destructive negativity of some comments regarding our recruitment of the potential new manager.
Constant attacks on Celtic staff and the absurd desire of some for Celtic to single handedly cure all the world’s problems.
To my generation, Celtic was a focus to what we had in common.
Not every Celtic supporter had all the same things in common, but there was that thread of common decency and fair play that united us.
Sadly, that is changing and an angry, belligerent type of fan is aligning itself to the club.
The joy of Celtic is supporting Celtic. The ups, the downs and the bits in between.
Always looking forward to the next game.
May you have many more years to enjoy the love of our club.

negativity about which potential new manager annoyed you
Roy Keane?
Thomthethim
Tyvm, and indeed to all who responded.
I’m off to the airport shortly. Going to rest on the beach and dream of European glory. Dreaming is free….and whose to say that we won’t win…..ok…..I’m taking it too far now:-))
Kit. I think what you are saying is players who run their contracts down tend to get a signing on fee and a higher basic wage which in turn ends up costing the new club the same amount of money as a transfer fee
Ledley seemed to be on a very high basic wage compared to the rest of the squad
Is it safe?
Ps I’m on my break!!
:-)
twist ‘n’ turns,
have seen posts giving you condolences didnt kept up with blog yesterday . I’ll keep you in my prayers

I was looking forward to having a good discussion about anything and Everything the previous night, I had utilised some Holiday credits, the tone, when I looked in, was dark.
We need to let everyone Breathe.
Strange that last week there were around 10 candidates who were in the frame and were being spoken with and last night permission was asked to speak to someone who obviously wasn’t included in that 10. So he just popped up and the other previous candidates were immediately discarded.
still think he will be goid for us though. Though I think Dr Jo was one if the best coaches we have ever had! :)
“In service days aren’t holidays though. They’re a vital part of the job. ”
I agree with the first part. I disagree with the second.I found MOST in service fruitless.
Incidentally,my mate`s daughter told me she wouldn`t be going to school because she had an insect day!
JJ
HT,
I think someone else was on the break last night.

JJ,
Incest day was the funniest I heard.
Your local lad done ok last night eh but Murray was just too strong for him ;)

Ok point taken :-)
Btw not all teachers go straight into further education, I was a painter and decorator when I left school and then did a vast array of jobs.

I didn’t think I’d have to spell it out to be honest.
