Space indicates why Moussa scores so many against Newco

444

I read Kenny Shiels’ comments that Newco’s Barrie McKay was better than James Forrest and Patrick Roberts, making me curious about McKay’s contract. The midfielder’s deal expires in 18 months, but when announcing his contract signing, Newco were unusually frank about their newco status:

“The winger has played a total of 78 times for Rangers, after making his first start in July 2012 against Brechin City at the age of 17.”

Before going onto explain in the same article that “The pacey winger made his Rangers debut against St Johnstone in the Light Blues’ last game of the 2011/12 season.”

If you count, that’s two debuts.  For two Rangers.

McKay was clearly Newco’s best player against Celtic, causing problems from the first minute until their challenge ran out of steam. Tying him into a long-term contract will be a priority (or selling him will be).

Yesterday I noted how Kiernan yelled abuse towards Tavernier at Scott Sinclair’s goal at Ibrox, but as this still shows, the entire Newco defence have questions to answer.
2017-01-03-1

There are five defender goal-side of Stuart Armstrong (not counting one on the wing). As the world was about to find out, Sinclair was unattended, but look at the space Moussa Dembele is in! The two central defenders, who will soon claim to be covering him, are five yards away from him. The defensive line isn’t so much a line as a horseshoe.

This is what Moussa scores so many goals against that lot, he doesn’t get this kind of space against any other opponent.

I remember introducing myself on this site in June 2008.

I said in my first few posts that although I was not a “Celtic supporter”….I don’t go your games….but, from the highlands, the only “big” team I could support was the Scotland international team. And as a wee boy in the Highlands, brought up to be a highlander….fiercely proud of our heritage…the one player that translated our feelings on a pitch…was the one and only Jimmy Johnstone.

    Drambowiecelt,

I love Frankie’s voice …and maybe you can tell me whether this is myth or truth…

That Otis Redding’s mum said, “He sounds just like Otis.”

Interesting what the Ross County chairman said today about Scottish football..

You have a break between ” city” teams and “community” teams.

He didn’t say this, but 2 of our “city” teams are in the 2nd tier.

Sorry, but that can only be the situation because of poor corporate management on their behalf.

” A board that will be forever remembered as complicit in ……….. the total sell-out of everything Celtic should stand for! ”

The point about Celtic’s values and ethics has been made in Res 12 discussions and abandoning both is not the kind of legacy I’d want to leave behind.

No true Celt would and 2017 will be a testing time in that respect.

    I’m persistently optimistic :)

By the way, I read that Vangard Bears pish article tonight …about cùltural bla bla.

It listed destroyed cultures ….but forgot to mention the one closest to where they are. The Gaelic lànguage of their own country. Where the belting of children for speaking their owm language had been hapening since the late 1700s and right up to the 1950s. Both protestant and catholic kids suffered this in the remaining strongholds of this language.

The whole deal , whether this comes to fruition or not , spells out ” ambition. “

I’m lying feet up in the cabin with only a phone to communictate sp …..but youtube Trail West….even better buy their 2nd LP ..They have their own version of the old song “South Australia” on it…although I will always prefer the Pogues version.. haha

  27. MACJAY1:

I’m not sure we define ‘ambition’ the same way. To me it is ambitious to hang on to our best players in the interests of the football club as opposed punting them at the first sign of an acceptable profit in the interests of the PLC.

“Glory before dividends” is my motto mate.

    Agreed.

Eddie and I were distraught at the loss of big Virgil.

However , I get the distinct impression that some signing agreements contain a clause which guarantees the right of the player to ” move on ” if certain conditions are met.

Perhaps that`s the only way young ambitious footballers can be persuaded to sign for a club in what some consider to be the ” backwater ” of Scottish football.

However , I seriously find it hard to believe that Brendan would have agreed to manage a ” selling ” club.

He has too much class for that.

( Big Jock put Bob Kelly and the Board in its place when he told them that he wouldn`t be telling them beforehand the makeup of the starting eleven )

Remains to be seen, but at the moment I couldn`t be happier with the state of the Celtic Nation.
