Space indicates why Moussa scores so many against Newco

444

I read Kenny Shiels’ comments that Newco’s Barrie McKay was better than James Forrest and Patrick Roberts, making me curious about McKay’s contract. The midfielder’s deal expires in 18 months, but when announcing his contract signing, Newco were unusually frank about their newco status:

“The winger has played a total of 78 times for Rangers, after making his first start in July 2012 against Brechin City at the age of 17.”

Before going onto explain in the same article that “The pacey winger made his Rangers debut against St Johnstone in the Light Blues’ last game of the 2011/12 season.”

If you count, that’s two debuts.  For two Rangers.

McKay was clearly Newco’s best player against Celtic, causing problems from the first minute until their challenge ran out of steam. Tying him into a long-term contract will be a priority (or selling him will be).

Yesterday I noted how Kiernan yelled abuse towards Tavernier at Scott Sinclair’s goal at Ibrox, but as this still shows, the entire Newco defence have questions to answer.
2017-01-03-1

There are five defender goal-side of Stuart Armstrong (not counting one on the wing). As the world was about to find out, Sinclair was unattended, but look at the space Moussa Dembele is in! The two central defenders, who will soon claim to be covering him, are five yards away from him. The defensive line isn’t so much a line as a horseshoe.

This is what Moussa scores so many goals against that lot, he doesn’t get this kind of space against any other opponent.

Re: All yer trumpet blowing yesterdy about, MO’N and BR.

You said that BR is the best Cellic manager since Mr Stein.

How can this be so ?

BR has to date – won a League Cup and finished bottom of the CL group that we could have qualified for the EL from if,….BR didny bring CMcG back into the team….after dropping him coz, CMcG cost us 2 goals in 5 mins at home vs the HBS coz, CMcG didny track back. Brendan brought him into the team vs, BMG away and, CMcG missed ‘theeeee’ sitter that would have put us through….imho.

What I couldn’t understand about BR thinking here was that, Kolo made 2 mistakes at home vs BMG and, he hasn’t appeared since…(ah don’t think ?)

Anyway,…..as far as I’m concerned, no manager in Celtic’s history was cheated more that MO’N and, as a consequence….MO’N was denied 5 titles in a row because of ebt-cheating.

Every team in Celtic’s history has been and, will continue to be cheated for as long as, Celtic supporters hand over they’re season ticket money to a PLC board who are in bed with the cheating huns and, the establishment that props them up.

Enjoy Brendan whilst he’s here coz, sooner or later the PLC will shit in BR’s nest as well…….

  7. So, what’s the new bhoy all aboot ?

Seriously, I hope he turns oot to be the new Murdo.

    None of this….

    Defensive midfielder….

    Sitting midfielder…..

    Attacking midfielder….

Ah mean, can a midfielder no just be a midfielder, that does everything in the midfield…..sumdy like, Craig Burley, Murdo, Petrov, Vic67, Broony, Armstrong, Jackie MacNamara….etc ?

Attack / score goals / win the ball / battle / hunskelp / pass / read the gemme ?

Mr Stein said – “The game is simple.”

So, why all the daftie confusion stuff ?

Anyway, the new bhoy looks to me to be a mixture of…

    Yaya….

    Efe…..

    Jerren Nixon…..

    Stripe oot the Gremlins…..

    A skunk…..

    Dyoof…..

Wan of yon bhoys who battled so heroically at ‘Rourkes’ drift…..

Hopefully the blonde bit means that he’s a secret Murdo fan :)

Anyway, the new guy is either a project with a kid-on price tag and, Brendan’s a puppet ?

Or, Brendan has the bull by the horns and, Lawwell’s lying ass is getting nearer the door ?

Whatever, guid luck to the new bhoy….Jesus….is that right ?

Scrolling back I’m scunnered with the lack of responses to SOS’s post from posters who were on at the time. Being a Tim is much more than just going to follow the team..

    ———————————————————————-

I thought twice before commenting on your sweeping statement. Was it not yourself who mentioned arrogance in telling Celtic supporters what to do a few days ago. This is the first time on CQN I can remember posters being castigated for the lack of response to a post.

Yes it was a well written post from the heart, however there can be a number of reasons why it didn’t get the response that you would have liked.

I am sure SOS didn’t write this post to receive universal acclaim from fellow posters.

Yes there is much more to being a Tim than simply following the team. But individual interpretation of that statement can be so different. Board bashing is very fashionable on here, repeated on a daily basis, but not all Celtic supporters agree with or slavishly follow that view.

Many Celtic supporters are happy the way the club is being run, we see a winning, entertaining team that gives enjoyment. Is that not what football is meant to be about in its most basic form. ?

Personally there are a few things I would like to see our board do differently, bit I would never dream of imposing my views on other Tims.

Just like the mother a few days ago taking her son to Ibrox for the first time , there are many deserving posts and action worthy of mention.

I would certainly not be scunnered by supporters or posters not reacting.

    VFR,

Wonderful coach that BR is, you do realise that Rangers are dead? MoN and Mr Stein managed Celtic teams that played the ‘real thing’. Over the last 50 years Celtic and *Rangers* have won 47* titles. The last title *won*by the Oldco was *2010/11*.

Comparisons with games played, players, managers should be ‘eschewed’. Rangers are dead.

Without a successful Zombie Scottish football is a one horse race, that’s bad news for the Bean Counter in Celtic Park.

The current shower playing out of Ibrox are propped up by institutionalised sectarianism and profiteers.

Celtic have only played Sevco 4(?) times. The previous matches against Rangers are for in the past, gone. Despite our current Board’s apparent desire to eschew history and disrespect the generations of Celtic supporters who were cheated by Rangers* and the establishment.

    I hope you are well.

    Macjay1,

There are very few, if any, clubs which are not selling clubs.

The only criteria is the money being offered, in relation to a club’s financial circumstances.

Even in the case of, say, Barcelona, if Messi decided it was time to move on, Barca would inevitably do a deal with whichever club Leo wished to play for. Does that make Barca a selling club?

Conversely, if under performing Joe Bloggs, a player with an unfashionable club, decided that he didn’t want to move, then he wouldn’t be sold.

Celtic, like virtually every other club are a buying and selling club and every manager understands and accepts that.

I’ll be scunnered if nobody reads this post. : > )

  22. VFR800 is now a Monster 821 on

CLOGHERCELT I had worked out that Rangers had died! The game has changed.

However, the ability of a manager can still be gauged from how he performs; I have a view on Brendan Rodgers. It obviously differs from some posters on here and that’s as it should be.

It doesn’t mean that I will change my view based upon what others say about him or previous managers. Time and history will determine whose views are the more accurate. It may be me, it may be others.

What is good though is that we have debate about good things!

    Heartbreaking,mate. His allegiance aside,of course.

Obviously there are some people who are beyond help in wider society so need institutionalised care, for a while at least. But I see so often-in Swindon at 3am when I’m working-people curled up in shop doorways and even telephone kiosks.

That cannot be right in a civilised society. When you need help-no matter how undeserving some might think you are-you should get a helping hand. Not ignored by the authorities and abused by the public.

When someone is in as much need as that and gets nothing,he will never be able to contribute in future. Sliding doors for some of us.

    Yer no scunnered then.

    :-)

What I meant was that the contract for some players to join Celtic may well contain a clause which allows the player to leave Celtic if certain criteria are met.

Perhaps if a certain sum is offered or if an EPL team comes calling.

    Or a combination of both.

I suspect that Virgil Van Dyke was in that category.

I sincerely hope that Moussa is not.
