Spartak sack manager Emeri after derby defeat

871

Spartak Moscow today sacked manager Unai Emeri after a 1-5 home league defeat against eight placed Dinamo Moscow.  Spartak are confirmed as bottom of Celtic’s Champions League group before they head to Celtic Park for the final game on 5 December.

Emeri has been increasingly unpopular since taking over earlier this year when his spell at Valencia ended, while rumours of dissent in the dressing room were never far away.  I had hoped he would remain in place for the visit to Glasgow but there will be a new man in charge by then.

A group of around 200 supporters demonstrated after the game, many chanting for the foreign players to ‘Go home’.

Although it now has become common place to use his Christian name, so most refer to him as Fr Willie…

Can anybody remind me how many times the Green Brigade have berated Lenny and the team like yesterday

Get it sorted board, you’ve made the right decision asking Lenny to be the middle man, dont send him in there with a list of demands, as Auldheind says, thats no dialogue.

  6. Bourne- I do not miss the vermin and do not want them back any day soon, but League form and thems not in it,is having an effect which equals little pressure on getting results/dropping points IMO.We should be playing fringe players in games during CL campaign, because we can with no penalty(i.e yesterday still top with a game in hand) and give guys a chance Ibrahim ,Mc Geouch,Chalmers spring to mind, together with resting players.

  7. On names;

H R manager asks an interviewee his name.

“Jack f*!kn bo”*ox Ryan”, the man replies.

“Oh I’m sorry, Jack, do you suffer from tourettes syndrome?”

“No,” said Jack, “but the priest that baptised me did.”

    Agree with you….

Also are the people who are complaining about yesterday and the previous performances, ST holders who should be at the game and no “doggin it!”. The GB support is superb and a lesson we could all learn. If ST holders weren’t at the game then surely they are partly responsible for the result, if as a support we can help the team secure big results with fantastic backing then we should also look at ourselves when things don’t go according to plan…..

    bt,

I expect he was surprised at the response, there are only two ways to go forward, one unites the club

  12. Lenny has to get the team playing more forward passing.

It’s like when wee gs was the manager there would be umpteen passes sideways giving the opposing team time to regroup.

Im not saying that ball retention is a bad thing but it doesn’t excite me.

I no barca do it but we are not at their level yet…not sullying anything gs achieved with us either.hail hail

  16. sipsini-Agree,i have posted a few times that IMO we take too many touches on the ball, and do not move it first time pass often enough.A factor of that is not enough movement off the ball.HH

IMO I think it is unfair the board wanting Lenny to be their intermediary, his job is difficult enough. They should be speaking to GB directly.
