Spinning Struth, high integrity and some great Celtic fans

749

It will make little difference to those who really should be paying attention.  Malcolm Murray left the Rangers International board yesterday with a statement to fans unlike anything previously heard from a departing director of a Scottish football club.  His warning is loud and clear, “Events of the last year have seen behaviour that would make the late, great, Bill Struth spin in his grave (no, he doesn’t mean the fact that all faiths are now employed at Ibrox)”.

It’ll make little difference because the groundwork has already been laid to ignore anything Malcolm Murray says by those who in previous years did the bidding of David Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green.  Notions of having a club “run by men of the highest integrity” don’t fit the narrative, talk of “mysterious individuals” will not be heard.

We’re now watching the equivalent of the opening scenes of Police Academy 4, the same farce will unfold with increasingly less interest from the wider world.

I know lots of good Celtic fans, lots and lots of them. Respect today to those who buy Overseas Season Tickets, meaning they can attend five games per season, but they buy tickets to 16 games for underprivileged supporters.

We are part of a genuinely incredible body of people. Stories like this simply don’t happen elsewhere. If you’re part of ‘the programme’, well done.

Just checked, Police Academy 4 was subtitled ‘Citizens on Patrol’. If only!!

CHAIRBHOY is coming in to Marylebone,so maybe The Doric Arch at Euston as a meet, then The Horse Guards (eventually)?

Might be better going to one of the four corners,I can nick a B’s fans ticket wi one hand and put a twenty in his pocket wi the other. Or ask him nicely,as I prefer to call it!

  3. Morning all. Glorious yet again. Enjoying it but I hope it gives those “marchers of hate” sunstroke. Either that or they get thoroughly drenched. I hope those of you stuck in the North today stay safe and sound.

I missed your reply last night as I had nipped out to work again, but I know where you are coming from.

My oul’ Dad is a great man for the pragmatism-and I’m not suggesting you’re kicking 75 like him, btw!

It’s just that when I was moaning about the standard of football that we were getting from the days of Gordon Strachan and Martin O’Neil, and comparing it with the beauty that I grew up with from 68 till 88 (I effed off for the bad years) and then Tommy and even Dr Jo,he asked me why I didnae include Wim.

Eh,we just had to win at all costs,Dad. That certainly wisnae pretty.

That was when he reminded me of how lucky I was as a Celtic supporter.

I saw G-R-E-A-T sides and marvellous players winning with ease.

    And with style.

And just before my 25th birthday,I saw us win the double in our Centenary Season.

He suffered as a Celtic fan. The Empire Exhibition, the double in 54.

    Hampden in the sun,7-1.

That was it till long after his 25th.

Aye,I’m right to be an idealist.

But my Dad is a much more intelligent man than I am,and I canny argue with his pragmatism.

And just before I finished that,I realised that it was WEEFRATHETIM whose reply I missed!

Bloody hell,I described myself well yesterday, right enough!

Celtic board are not daft most season ticket renewals in then sell the best player. Now we will get the old statement Lennon will get a large chunk of the cash for new players. Then transfer deadline comes no new players then the old saying nobody out there that would have improved the current squad. If you’s think a midfield of Ledley,Brown, commons and Mulgrew are taking us into the CL better get ready for Europa league if we are lucky.

  26. Last summer, the locals were amazed, chearing and clapping hailing EuroChamps67 a great hero when he did a bungee jump complete with the Hoops, from The Paliokastro for a local charity.

  27. Sad to see Victor leaving us . He could have been one of the best-ever Celtic mid-fielders.

I would put him amongst the very elite Ive seen in the hoops.

Its a shame because Celtic is one of the top clubs in the world but due to being in a crap league and the Sky money on our door-step these good players leave for little clubs like Southampton and Swansea.

Some expert was analysing Victors strengths and weakness’s said his alround game was strong except for is awful long-range passing?? He is not yet the finished article but Ive seen him hit many rakeing accurate 40m-50m passes.

Efe a different type of player who has loads of talent .But I believe he needs to be in the back 4.
