Spinning Struth, high integrity and some great Celtic fans

749

It will make little difference to those who really should be paying attention.  Malcolm Murray left the Rangers International board yesterday with a statement to fans unlike anything previously heard from a departing director of a Scottish football club.  His warning is loud and clear, “Events of the last year have seen behaviour that would make the late, great, Bill Struth spin in his grave (no, he doesn’t mean the fact that all faiths are now employed at Ibrox)”.

It’ll make little difference because the groundwork has already been laid to ignore anything Malcolm Murray says by those who in previous years did the bidding of David Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green.  Notions of having a club “run by men of the highest integrity” don’t fit the narrative, talk of “mysterious individuals” will not be heard.

We’re now watching the equivalent of the opening scenes of Police Academy 4, the same farce will unfold with increasingly less interest from the wider world.

I know lots of good Celtic fans, lots and lots of them. Respect today to those who buy Overseas Season Tickets, meaning they can attend five games per season, but they buy tickets to 16 games for underprivileged supporters.

We are part of a genuinely incredible body of people. Stories like this simply don’t happen elsewhere. If you’re part of ‘the programme’, well done.

Just checked, Police Academy 4 was subtitled ‘Citizens on Patrol’. If only!!

    Canamalar,

Because even if the bubble bursts, we will be in a better league with more revenue than we get now.

An EPL where TV revenue is reduced to 25% of current levels would still be over treble our current income.

I hope that answers your question, and apologies for starting my response with a conjunction:-)

  3. I don’t think Celtic playing in England is a legal issue. Isn’t the English FA a ‘club’ of sorts and one has to be invited to join and the majority of the smaller clubs do not want Celtic in the English league system. Buying an English club may circumvent this but do we really want to be Sevco Celtic because I believe that is the only way this will happen – Celtic FC ceases to be and becomes Hartlepool Celtic 2014 . Nah not for me. I think our best option will be the much talked about Atlantic league or perhaps the amalgam of the some of the former soviet republics football leagues into one ‘Russian super league’ may lead to the formation of a UEFA sanctioned 2 tier European league structure for the bigger clubs to ply their trade.

  5. I hope Celtic have not sleeped walked into an agreement with Southampton FC,

The media is quoting 12m for Wanyama, but we all know the fee will be paid over his 4year contract.

With Southampton FC being in administration a couple of years back are they a club you would put your trust in .

If they go back into administration what would we received then.?

Well big Victor has gone. Best of luck on the South coast big man, it was a pleasure to watch you particularly on that special CL night against Barca. I know you will miss those nights but you go with best wishes.

Celtic would still remain the same company with the same company registration number.

Now the club that we bought .

They would disappear as a result of the acquisition.

    So your fears are pointless.

  18. Loved Victor in the hoops and was brilliant against Barca in particular. Now he’s gone I don’t give a toss what he does. He left for more dosh and a spotlight for a move to a big EPL team which makes him v ambitious, me I have different ambitions in life which don’t equate to working for the biggest and the most prestigious company in the field, that’s not a mindset I have any particular respect for. Glad he was with us, now he’s not, he has no feeling for Celtic and I know I will lose interest in his career pretty soon. It was a connection which has worked very well for both parties but 2 years does not make a bond. Thanks and goodbye. He’s no KoK or Sammi sadly.

  19. And the next trick will be……….

    To shut me up!

£12m for Vic, good business, undeniable, disappointed in Vic though, I thought he might have meant the badge kissing, he is no Sammy.

I wish him well, but he’ll struggle to recreate the feeling of beating Barca, anywhere but Celtic Park.

CRC, I was thinking of you at 6pm, it was very warm, hope you top up the fluids over the next couple of weeks.

Like you,I have huge concern about the worlwide spread of militant Muslimism.

I fear “we” have brought it on ourselves and have real concerns about the future of Western democracies. The problem is that people are reluctant to raise the subject in case they are labelled racist.

I don’t really understand why Celtic ‘favour’ the term “Undisclosed Fee” ….. Anyone know the logic / rational behind not just stating the agreed fee …?

  23. fanadpatriot 22:57

OK – go for it (bearing in mind I don’t have access to the contract details)!

Southampton have circa £30-40M TV money (+ sponsorship and a parachute clause worth circa £90M should they be relegated).

So! Please tell me why CFC should agree H.P. terms for the sale of V67?

CFC were the seller – set the minimum sale fee. Southampton agreed the purchase price ( and I assume the T&Cs).

Please feel free to inform me where it’s been reported that CFC have agreed to the payment being spread over 4 years.

I am in the “trust the board” camp in respect of the transfer of VM.

However that support is predicated on the assumption that the board has a replacement for VW lined up.

I fully expect that now the VW deal is done and dusted, we have a new face in place in the next 48 hours.

Not that the replacement will be ready for Cliftonville, but more to have them in place and training asap.
