Spinning Struth, high integrity and some great Celtic fans

749

It will make little difference to those who really should be paying attention.  Malcolm Murray left the Rangers International board yesterday with a statement to fans unlike anything previously heard from a departing director of a Scottish football club.  His warning is loud and clear, “Events of the last year have seen behaviour that would make the late, great, Bill Struth spin in his grave (no, he doesn’t mean the fact that all faiths are now employed at Ibrox)”.

It’ll make little difference because the groundwork has already been laid to ignore anything Malcolm Murray says by those who in previous years did the bidding of David Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green.  Notions of having a club “run by men of the highest integrity” don’t fit the narrative, talk of “mysterious individuals” will not be heard.

We’re now watching the equivalent of the opening scenes of Police Academy 4, the same farce will unfold with increasingly less interest from the wider world.

I know lots of good Celtic fans, lots and lots of them. Respect today to those who buy Overseas Season Tickets, meaning they can attend five games per season, but they buy tickets to 16 games for underprivileged supporters.

We are part of a genuinely incredible body of people. Stories like this simply don’t happen elsewhere. If you’re part of ‘the programme’, well done.

Just checked, Police Academy 4 was subtitled ‘Citizens on Patrol’. If only!!

Spot on brother , a bit of experience is what’s needed.

Sephbhoy ya wee bum sook, my problem is, the team are no longer the focus, especially for clowns like you, your more enamoured with the executive.

Why don’t you go find a petrol company or financial institution to go and support obviously the sport has nothing to do with anything that matters to you.

Celtic the club have been through feast and famine before, we’ll go through it again irrespective of how well we are being told we are doing, I’d rather feast on titles and trophies than dividends every time, not for you though, if we’re paying dividends everything must be going good.

Bullcrap about making money now at the expense of the team on the park is a sure fire looser, supporters don’t turn up to cheer on bank balances, well most don’t, you obviously do.

  12. Good luck Vic.

    You played us fairly.

I don’t think that there are many of us who considered Vic the finished article.

His options were to sign a new contract with us, in the hope of playing some CL games against better opposition, or, moving to a lower level EPL team and have sterner tests on a week to week basis.

I think that, at his age, the latter ishis better option and not just for the wage.

He will learn quicker in the less forgiving environment and once he has eradicated the flaws in his game, the big boys will come a-calling.

‘It was brought to my attention last night that some posters have been using nicknames from celtc fans, among other unacceptable names, for our manager. Fat Sally, fat tramp, McSCIAF, and other highly offensive terms. I don’t care what you think of our manager, these terms are simply unacceptable. I’m not asking everyone to call him Super Ally, but just have some respect. Frankly, anyone using a name for our manager that comes from celtc fans wants to take a long, hard look at themselves.

You are, as ever, free to have whatever opinions you want of our manager – debate his managerial abilities, his dress sense, whatever you want – but do not resort to these pathetic names for him.

I’ve sent a few PMs out this morning to repeat offenders and I will be monitoring this. Anyone who continues to use these terms will find themselves unable to use this site. ‘

The Orange bands were ordered (encouraged) to play only respectful hymns passing St Patrick’s Church in Donegall Street Belfast. I was in the upstairs room of a pub close by ( owned by a good friend) as a recent procession passed by.We heard the leader of one band shout out “Holy Mary” and the band struck up to the tune of “What a Friend we have in Jesus” as they approached the church. All sang the “respectful hymn”. the words of which are very different to what you posted. I’ll post them if you want to read them.

Have to disagree there, a team from a league that contained Greuther Furth last season produced two teams that competed a Champions League final at Wembley

So I reckon we could probably buy up Greuther Furth for about £2million of Victors money and use the rest to secure Sammi on a longer term deal and progress our way to being Champions of Europe through the bundesliga

EN – I’d agree about Gordon’s first two seasons, but the 3rd and 4th had me wavering about renewing my season card! I think NFL goes back to WGS tactics too often.

When he sometimes reverts to 4-2-4 (RIP Lurgan 53), it brings out an involuntary groan from me. Then again, that could be due to my age!

I have supported celtic since I can remember and as a child I always wanted celtic to sign the best players, today I go to the games and I support the team, I still want the best players. it depresses me we cant buy the best players or hold on to our best players. the main reason we cant is simple and that reason is money, pure and simple.

so then I think to myself what and how can celtic compete with all these diddy team it occurs to me that we actually have something those diddy clubs will never have and that my friend is you and I and another 9 million like us. I am far from interested in dividends getting paid out.

I am very interested in celtic trying to tap into her potential to increase income so that we can become more competitive. we have to spend more to compete better and that means we have to increase revenue or run up debts. so what is so wrong with that exactly? it seems there are many others who think like me we are not all clowns.

Glasgow rangers died because they spend more than they brought in yet clowns like you advocate that as the way to go
