Spinning Struth, high integrity and some great Celtic fans

749

It will make little difference to those who really should be paying attention.  Malcolm Murray left the Rangers International board yesterday with a statement to fans unlike anything previously heard from a departing director of a Scottish football club.  His warning is loud and clear, “Events of the last year have seen behaviour that would make the late, great, Bill Struth spin in his grave (no, he doesn’t mean the fact that all faiths are now employed at Ibrox)”.

It’ll make little difference because the groundwork has already been laid to ignore anything Malcolm Murray says by those who in previous years did the bidding of David Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green.  Notions of having a club “run by men of the highest integrity” don’t fit the narrative, talk of “mysterious individuals” will not be heard.

We’re now watching the equivalent of the opening scenes of Police Academy 4, the same farce will unfold with increasingly less interest from the wider world.

I know lots of good Celtic fans, lots and lots of them. Respect today to those who buy Overseas Season Tickets, meaning they can attend five games per season, but they buy tickets to 16 games for underprivileged supporters.

We are part of a genuinely incredible body of people. Stories like this simply don’t happen elsewhere. If you’re part of ‘the programme’, well done.

Just checked, Police Academy 4 was subtitled ‘Citizens on Patrol’. If only!!

They could be a shamrock and be three in one, I care not a jot, they’re not Celtic men and you can take that to the bank.

Indeed sir, a mistake of the Merrydown.

You may well be right that next season Efe will come good, I truly hope you are but I remain to be convinced.

Did they have a whip-round to buy the flags

Well according to the Scottish news big Victor has gone he has signed a four year deal with Southampton we now need to sort out the Gary Hooper situation.H.H.

The ole flags come out of Mrs Salmond’s handbag.

They are doubles from her extensive collection.

With a sad heart I leave this wonderful football club, but I will remain a fan forever. Those champions league nights were amazing and so are the Celtic fans. I would like to thank Neil Lennon and all the players and staff for everything and hopefully one day I get the chance to play for this great club again. I will also miss my favourite Jelly and Ice Cream. Victor Wanyama

Heard today we were looking at a creative midfielder. Putting big efe into the holding role. Not big vic but could work.

    Fair do’s.

It’s just that ( not you personally ) some Celtic fans appear to ‘bandwagon jump’ on MSM maltreatment of Celtic players that ‘have had the odd gaff’.

The Daily Thugs and Thieves for example, loved to put the boot into Efe, despite his excellent national standing.

Yes, he had a few bloopers which Celtic defender in an attack mad club hasn’t?

My only fear for Efe is we don’t know his best position, and next season

he may move further forward in whatever the formation.

Where did they get the flags? It takes a special mentality to acquire a stash of flags of countries/organisations that you hate. I wouldn’t have a butcher’s apron in my house.

  12. Edwardburns5 on

murdochbhoy, yermanfrommk. i agree that neither of the personalties displayed shows any trace of common decency or basic humanity ,traits normally associated with the celtic ethos. i have always thought best to ignore and they may go away but if not possible then just take the piss out of him/her although i would worry that he/she would take it out on their wee ma

  13. Wanyama exit officially confirmed. Actually gutted by that because, although not a flair player like when Aiden left, I truly believe he will be at the top of the game for a generation, or should be.

Wanyama is the epitome of what big clubs look for in a player and it’s sad we are losing him.

The challenge is now set for John Park and Neil Lennon but the problem they will find is that when clubs know you have money to spend asking prices inevitably go up.

  14. Joe Filippis Haircut on

bournesouprecipe. I am concerned more that he is working his ticket and he will walk for nothing at the end of next season. If he wishes to stay all well and good all he has to do is sign his new contract if he doesnt sign the new contract sell him for what we can get.The guy can score goals and that is in his favour but no one is bigger than Celtic.H.H.

  15. Marrakesh Express on

I work with a guy who openly boasted that in 1973, he was in a walk going down Keppochill rd Springburn….suddenly a youth ran out in front of the march with a tricolor….this guys father who was leading the walk grabbed the boy and “just before my da smashed the steel mace he had made in Weirs through his skull, I dragged him off”.

The mentality of actually telling that to 6 fellow workers defies logic.

With respect – that’s cliched tiresome MSM influenced, thinking.

He scored two goals in the Cup Final and virtually landed the trophy for Celtic, before Hibs even started, some on here wanted him away in January?

The MSM price of an ‘alleged’ £7m bid in January drops to an alleged £4m by the end of the season.

Let Celtic decide when Hooper will leave, he’ll leave, when he leaves, which for all we know may be after his next new Celtic contract, and I don’t care if it’s signed two seconds before the deadline.

    Hail Hail

  21. I’m sad to see Vic go but I thank him for what he did for us since 2011 and wish him well for the future. He is gone now and that should be an end to it. In a way its a relief as we knew it was coming. Midfielders and defenders can be replaced easily enough not maybe to Vic’s standard but a lad that can do more then a decent job for us. Goalscorers are a different animal as we well know, we need to tie down Stokes and make a final effort to persuade Hoops to sign a new contract. If he won’t sign we have little option but to sell him, if it pans out that way it could be a tough enough season ahead. However we still have time to buy or get in Loans plus its a great time for a couple of the kids to break through.

I suppose it had to happen.

It’s the way the world is moving.

There was a time when Celtic men despised selfishness & greed.

Apparently it is now popular on CQN.

    OK…I’m fairly feeble minded.

Let’s embrace this world of superiority & ‘bigger & better bombs’.

I’m prepared to give it a go.

Let’s just be successful,… no matter how we get there.

That Celtic ideal of caring how we succeeded was a load of old tosh.

I have to thank the Mynah Bird & his acolyte for removing my simple illusions.

canamalar1. I agree with you, but the problem is if he is strong willed he can refuse to leave that is why in hindsight we should have sold him last January when he refused to sign a new deal.Lennie feels he still has a chance of getting him to stay I just hope the wee man doesnt get his fingers burned.
