Spinning Struth, high integrity and some great Celtic fans

749

It will make little difference to those who really should be paying attention.  Malcolm Murray left the Rangers International board yesterday with a statement to fans unlike anything previously heard from a departing director of a Scottish football club.  His warning is loud and clear, “Events of the last year have seen behaviour that would make the late, great, Bill Struth spin in his grave (no, he doesn’t mean the fact that all faiths are now employed at Ibrox)”.

It’ll make little difference because the groundwork has already been laid to ignore anything Malcolm Murray says by those who in previous years did the bidding of David Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green.  Notions of having a club “run by men of the highest integrity” don’t fit the narrative, talk of “mysterious individuals” will not be heard.

We’re now watching the equivalent of the opening scenes of Police Academy 4, the same farce will unfold with increasingly less interest from the wider world.

I know lots of good Celtic fans, lots and lots of them. Respect today to those who buy Overseas Season Tickets, meaning they can attend five games per season, but they buy tickets to 16 games for underprivileged supporters.

We are part of a genuinely incredible body of people. Stories like this simply don’t happen elsewhere. If you’re part of ‘the programme’, well done.

Just checked, Police Academy 4 was subtitled ‘Citizens on Patrol’. If only!!

  1. victor has left the building, thanks big man you’ve done us a turn. think we’ll see a new player enter before hooper follows victor to the EPL. remember victor came to us as an unknown for 900k and gave us two good years. we have a team full of young players wanting to make a name for themselves and there will be a few more looking on and thinking celtic might just be the right move.

with any luck there will be a sell-on clause, don’t think we’d be silly enough not to have one.

I already have a good feeling about the dutch bhoy, looks a right good player from what little I have see. as one door closes another opens

  2. Bizarre transfer choice for VW

Not to long ago he was being touted for top drawer European teams.

    With no due respect…Southhampton!

None the less, fantastic business by Celtic and good luck to VW

Bada Bing.Could it be that the bigger EPL teams dont see him as the answer to there goal scoring and he needs to lower his choice of club a little ? H.H.

Of course there will be a sell on clause. PL gets a cut of it don’t you know:o)

  6. This will probably be a regular sight in this country if it is ever independent…

The steaks were lovely and the big fat juicy pork sausages well enough said and during the lighting process a lovely Ice Cold Bud yes 57 is good to himself and missus. I ask you what is there not to like about that

  8. With the sale of Wanyama and last seasons CL money we have probably ensured the club will be in fantastic shape for the next 10 year’s. Imagine what it will be like when we start the eventual European League when it is created as the only debt free club…

  9. Good luck to Vic at Southampton, it won’t stop me putting a bet on that they will get relegated this season though.

I remember hearing that story – truly incredible!

Could be, or we’re just holding out for more profit, it’s the Celtic way don’t you know

  15. I do not blame anybody going to new job for a better pay, so the best of luck Victor. I thought he would have ended up at a higher level than Southampton. They must have money to burn and I wish them luck in their fight to stay in the English Premiership. The price was right and well done Celtic, no longer selling our best players for peanuts. I have got to be honest and say I would have been happy with 8 million. So goodbye Victor, it was nice to know you.

canamalar1-i read on here 20% ,seems a bit high? I wouldn’t rule out PL paying Beerschot off before now.

  17. asonofdan. Looks to me like its unionists who want to stop Scotland from becoming independent who are burning the flags.

I chuckle when I hear people talk about everything PL takes from the club and yet without a hint of irony, demand we go spend a fortune paying players stupid money we don’t have.

hoops is next for the off, I just hope supporters understanding celtic don’t hold all the aces, realistically if hooper does not want to stay we have no choice but to sell.

i’d rather we had bhoys like Charlie, Mathews, forrest, Sammy, ledley, izzy, brown and stokes signed up cause these bhoys are hopefully gonna be the backbone of our first team for years to come with others coming and going alone the way

  19. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

I’m generally not in favour of holding on to players who want to leave, and for that reason I’d have sold Hooper in January.

I’m now thinking it’s pretty much got to the point where there’s little sense in selling him now – if we’re looking at a fee of approx £4m.

Keep him until January at least – that way we get him for the CL qualifiers and (hopefully!) the group games, or at least EL group.

In the January window some struggling EPL team will probably offer not far short of £4m anyway – look at what QPR spent on trying to stay up last season.

That’s assuming his attitude would stay positive of course (if he’s looking to leave).

Beerschot (Newco) are set for a £600,000 windfall as Wanyama’s transfer to Southhamption triggers a 5% sell on clause.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

paying your bills, maintaining your stadium and trying to develop all aspect of celtic is the celtic way dont you know.

if you sit your arse in block 411 you can see ipox were a team with no history kid themselves on that they have another teams history which left 100+ debt at the wake

would you rather that be the celtic way?

  22. Thanks big Vic for some great moments over the last 2 years. I think within another 2 years he’ll be at Arsenal or Chelsea or ManU.

    Victor has just said:

“I just want to train hard and work hard to be a part of the starting XI. We’ll see where that will take me.”

I doubt very much if he sees himself as a Southampton player long-term.

  24. There is a “Tims Bar”in Pattaya in Thailand, but on closer inspection,I never saw any”Hoops”in there.Come to think of it,I never saw any clothes at all.Now theres a strange thing.

  25. I cant believe celtic making a profit is used to beat the club. the players leaving celtic actually want to leave and celtic are doing what any business does, it sells at the highest price possible and buys at the lowest price possible.

hope this windfall allows celtic to get the first phase of the celtic triangle done before the commonwealth games. oh that might generate regular income and therefore profitability, don’t see how that will benefit celtic, its PL fault don’t you know!!!!!!!!!!

    jesus weeps

  26. Without those games against Barca I doubt we would have got anywhere near 12.5 mil for big Vic. CL really is the be all and end all for us. Best of luck Victor, thank you.

  27. tommytwiststommyturns on

Gary Hooper has a year left on his contract….he holds all the cards, not Celtic. He’ll move, if the deal is right for him, not us.

We can’t force him to do the right thing for us, we can only sweeten the deal for him.

He’s not going to a CL club, but moving to a decent EPL club will raise his profile and his chances of a bigger move and England caps further down the line.

I hope Gary signs a new deal at CP, but if not then we have to “leverage” a transfer in this window.
